  • absloute kicking ass although i'm not a big WP fan -I have WP 6.1 and i regret buying it =\-

  • Everybody says it's a copy of Siri even though the windows phone 7 came out way before the iPhone 4s So really Siri is a copy of windows 7 voice actions ( you guys are stupid)

  • this video tells me, that siri is faster, and easier to use. I never had an iPhone, (currently on android) so I'm not a fanboy, but my next phone will be apple that is for sure. I wouldn't even consider buying a w7.

  • @Jocks0113 maybe you should consider sticking to android phones, they will never try to put you in a cage as proprietary platforms!

  • copy of siri but nice vid

  • WP7 looks so awesome! And I would get one, if I wasn't an Androidfag

  • herp derp im a massive apple fanboy and apple made siri before microsoft hurrdurrp

  • Not to stereotype. but from all the demos I came across.. Tell me works flawlessly with foreign accents particularly Indian accent and it could be true since most of their product development and testing is done in India.

  • @alisurya Nope, the speech team is located in Mountain View, CA, Redmond, WA, and Bejing, China. The bulk of the developers are in Mountain View and Redmond.

  • Hope Robin doesn't mind his number showing up

  • @gorgobar Not al all. Thats me.

  • i'd never trade this for an iOS, is still a Nokia

  • The point is with Siri you don't need to say those command words. It was completely fair, why should you have to limit Siri to command words just because TellMe *NEEDS* them?

  • One annotation: iOS has a similar Voice recognition and Voice command feature like TellME since iOS4 i think. Siri is a large step compared to this.

  • "Bear in mind that you have to say certain commands before doing voice actions on WP7" ... Well but THAT is the difference! For Siri it doesn't matter what you say cause it analyses the sentence. For TellME you need precise sentence constructions.

  • funny thing is, wp7 has this integrated since last year.

  • You can also do all these things on a 2 year old iphone 3GS you idiot. This does NOT equal Siri. Search "iPhone 3GS voice control" to confirm, unless that's too advanced for you...

  • @theoxygenthief that's not true, this equivalent system you say exist in the previous ios iterations didn't work as well as tell me system in windows phone 7 os, in facto many iOs fanboys complained about it! But in a way your are right you Idiot this does not compare to Siri, Siri does work outside the US and the Tell me does! Siri does not have voice command to open an app, and Tell Me does! Lol comenack anytime with your girly siri dilly thing

  • @theoxygenthief I dont think he was saying it was equal to Siri, we all know thats not true. He was just pointing out that you can't use Siri commands on a different phone. The wasn't very fair, even if Windows would lose either way, it could have lost with a fair fight.

  • I'm not fan of either side, but... 'the other guy' did not make unfair comparison. Siri isn't new as simply voice recogniser. The other video shows what's the difference, and whats new about technology on iPhone, not 'how it can recognise commands'.

I can "Call Robin" on a 3year old SE.Try check meeting, reschedule it depending on weather forecast and then send sms about it so fluently on wp7.

  • Its better if people stop making stupid comparison videos and start posting videos which show how things actually work.

Voice commands on phones, been using it for years. Why the sudden interest in it just cause apple has it now? Siri indeed has natural language recognition which is a plus. So whats the big deal. Is that a selling point?

The previous comparison was total bullshit. The guy did not know how to use a windows phone. This video is more on how to use voice commands in windows.

  • Was going to leave a comment, but wasn't sure which commands I could write :)

  • @techaudottv Then I guess Siri is smarter than you.

  • @techaudottv awesome summary of the whole situation

  • You can open any app on the phone using "start...", "open...", or find... ". It's a simple difference in telling the phone what to do versus just talking to yourself out loud while the phone listens. And MSFT didn't have to add someone else's program to its "next gen" phone just to get people to buy it & justify the purchase. Voice commands have always been standard built in on MSFT phones. So yeah... my life just lost all purpose because Siri is out there and I don't have it! Oh NO!

  • Still not fair. There is no Tellme in Europe.

  • Wow. I knew the "other guy" didn't make a fair comparison, but I actually didn't know how similar the experience can be before this. Great job!

  • @lycosman Thanks lycosman. Appreciate the support.

  • great vid. thanks for making this.....WP7...needs a better rep

  • @LEDONBORIS Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support.

  • Actually, I feel doe SIRI, we are using a speech that is more like talking to any human. But for WP7, we NEED TO use COMMANDS. Apple are always making products more friendly for the users. If we can order the phone to do something using normal way of speech, why will we need to remember COMMANDS instead?

    Just my 2 cents.

  • @chmun77 I'd rather quickly say, "text Katie" than say " send text to Katie". TellMe is command driven but it really is like just saying what you want. You don't have to ask it, "What is the weather in Paris?" you just say "Weather in Paris". You don't have to say, "Find me a sushi restaurant", you just say "Sushi" and it takes you to local results since your probably looking for food. You don't have to say "search for...", you just say it. "New York Giants" and you'll get scores/schedules

  • @wixostrix Well, it sounds like you are talking like a machine to a machine?? Do you talk to a person using "What is....." or do you starts a conversation with a human like "Weather in Paris"? SIRI allows us, HUMAN, to talk to a machine HUMANLY. Which is much easier for US, the consumers.

  • @chmun77 I don't know if that is necessarily easier but okay.

  • @chmun77 Which actually makes sense because you're NOT talking to a human, but rather a machine. This video only proves that TellMe is just as effective as Siri, being the latter just a little more sophisticated.

  • @lycosman But why will a person like us NEED to talk like a machine just because we are talking to a machine?? If SIRI can provide a normal conversation with US like human, why not? See the point? Do you prefer coding in machine language or rather code in a more user friendly language like .NET?

  • @chmun77 The thing is, when you're coding in an high level language, you're not anywhere near of personifying the machine, while using Siri, you are. I'm not suggesting this is bad, but do we really need to give that kind of importance to a tool? I'm a geek thus I like when people make technology more friendly and "human", but it all comes down to a gimmick and not necessarily an useful feature. Anyway, Siri and TellMe work differently, but just as good. And that's the point of all this.

  • @suharsya i agree, i was asking them why THEY think extra steps to make something work is better

  • @codybrucewilliams function. their purpose is different. TellMe is great for doing the core function of your cell phone. Siri is for wider purpose but not so good for core function of your phone. you still need your hands on siri of there an incoming message.

  • @tuscanii : my question is still the same as before... "why make more steps then nessasary?"

    @asaholey : see question above :)

  • @codybrucewilliams because they use a different technology, if you really want to compare, compare this to voice control on your iphone 4 your gonna be sad.

siri is the next generation of voice control its great.

tellme on windowsphone is the now generation of voice control and it works great comparing to other platform, try it yourself. not just by reading or watch some video on youtube.

you dont even know they are different. gosh

  • @Oranges961 Thanks for watching. Appreciate the support. I was really pissed off at the unfair comparison and had to do it.

  • TellMe is so limited. It still has to consult Bing if I ask it what the meaning of life is.

  • @tronjhiem79

But you are obviously willing to accept the answer that Siri gives you without any other differing opinions, which is what the Bing results give you?

If you were joking, then I get it. :)

  • How did you get the weather to show up in search? my focus doesn't do that.

  • Comment removed

  • @ElisonLugue Set the region and language to United States. That's how I did it.

  • Try what Elison said. My region and language is also set to English (US).

  • Apple is dead again. They need to do false advertising just to impress morons.

You are doing it wrong stevie!!!

  • Great video, the other one was indeed ridiculous as he used one command (yes, also Siri just understands a set of certain commands, and just in one language well, the other two languages do not even have a local search e.g.) which was specific to Siri and did a web search on any WP7 device, and there are also things Tellme understands but Siri doesn't. Sure every technology could still be improved but so far voice commands is the least used feature on any phone for me anyway.

  • @Arjoma92 Thanks. :)

  • "bear in mind that you have to say certain commands before doing voice actions of WP7"... you could... but... why? the whole point is talk naturally... if not, then there is no point.

  • @codybrucewilliams

Yes, it's somewhat cool that Siri can process natural language but it's not like WP7's commands are awkward or hard to remember. Things like 'Text someone' , 'Open Calendar', and etc commands confuse u, then u got bigger problems.

Siri is cool to use, but Siri itself doesn't seem to be a good reason to get an iPhone 4s and if ppl need Siri to talk to their phones, then I suggest they look for friends

  • @tuscanii Yep, thats my main contention. Its ridiculous that Apple held off a feature so that people would just buy the iPhone4S to use Siri. Thats very dishonest.

  • @techomaniac

    That's Apple though....

Whatever it takes to get the minions to line up around the block for a feature we could have pushed out as an update!

  • @codybrucewilliams You still don't get it do you? Siri and tell me are just bonus features of a phone.

Main reason of buying phone is to call. The whole point is holding it naturally. and that can't be done on iphone 4.

  • @asaholey

You can hold it naturally, if you buy the 'magical' iRubberband!
