I remember back in the early 80's watching Maya reading her poetry in a concert she gave here in the UK. It was the first time I had ever heard of her. I was a young man of 18. She moved me to tears. She has from that day to this. She has a voice that rises above and apart from the confines and petty greeds of humanity.
