Honestly you kinda missed the point of the weekly D&D social event. You go there to have fun with your friends, imagine your killing some monsters, save the world and get loot.

The only people not afraid to be creative because they don't let older kids that don't know shit about life control them are the ones that might be "Unpopular" But that died off long ago now ANYONE plays, unlike some people, other people got smart and seen how awesome the game is. If you don't have a large imagination then you might not grasp the concept but all you need to know it is fun and it lets you get away from this shit hole of a place for one night.

It's just a game, played for fun. The game doesn't define the person. I'm in a Rock Band that entertains people. I have a girlfriend. I drink beer and go to club/bars with friends. I am in the Military and wake up before the suns out, and serve my Country proudly. I play D&D to be creative, be social, and escape some of the tough realities. @GazzetteBlackheart The Goths in Germany used to be like the punk movement. It was more like a fashion thing where you basically decided to hate the world and everything lives in it. Most of them were highly into alcohol and drugs.

Now, I know some nice goth's too, but in most cases it was frustrated teenagers that hopped on to a running train as a way to rebel.

I don;t see what's wrong with liking D&D. It is a social game where you have to use imagination and creativity.

You should take some time and think about who the whole concept of roleplaying is the same as watching movies or reading books, it is about accepting the illusion of fiction to experience the sensation of thrill and/or excitment. The only difference when it comes to playing RPGs is the level and method of participation, which is a bit more active and involved than watching movies for example.

I think you are preoccupied with the public "image" of roleplayers or "nerds".
