he thought that they were dead until he first sensed luke and he had a suspicion when he killed beru and owen. but he didnt know the sex of the child so when he saw that the jedi had a son he automatically filled an image of his child with that kids face. thats also how palpatine came up with his name. vader means father

and vader means in sith language the dreaded tormentor not father.

i played the ps2 version of this game, and there was a big difference besides the graphics. an example is that proxy did not surprise the apprentice like that, and vader fought that jedi at night outside in kashyyyk. thats one difference.
