well its amazing... how u can see so clearly so far away and all the galazies behind the eye ... and stars are also quite visisble.... yet were to beleive you cant see the moon upclose or any stars around it... with any telescope. and vice vercy. pics from the moon looking back on earth. no stars in background ..... yea right.

In all my astronomy textbooks that is referred to as the Cat's Eye Nebula... I've never heard it referenced as the "Eye of God," but I suppose the editors of the textbooks could have left that part out because of the mention of religion... (which is silly in my opinion).

@lovelisteningtorain no, you see, i do appreciate it and i do it to the best of my ability, but we don't know what god looks like, so we shouldn't name such formations as things like eye of god or hand of god. the only reason i can somewhat accept the hand of god picture is that it really does look like a hand and there's a grace about it that lets me be okay with that name. this just looks like a cat's eye through and through.

Its exactly what they said it was.. a dying star, it happens all the time. It also depends on what you consider to be God which is what makes it real or not. Technically energy is God since it fuels creation, and somehow conscienceness and thought is connected to all that.
