  • Please don't tell me they both could actually play the fiddle. That will just make feel even more inadequate as a human being than I already do when watching them.

  • so heterosexual.

  • @broadwaybound246 ok, are you crazy??? hetrosexual?!!! there can never be anything more attractive, awsome and manly as a man who knows how to dance, i am completely fine with expression of opinions but hetrosexual is wrong!!

  • @MyLOLrandom not sure what you just said. You just say that its manly to know how to dance, then said that *heterosexual wasn't the correct word? obviously i know that gene kelly wasn't gay. sarcasm is fun sometimes.

  • OMG! The spongebob dance at 0:57! They did this before Party Rock Anthem

  • HOW CAN NO ONE LOVE THEM?! BOOOOOOOOOOOOO TO THE AUDIENCE!!

  • Kudos to beloved Donald O'Connor who keeps up with Gene Kelly step for step. I've been hypnotised by this dance scene since I was like 5 yrs old :)

  • All the songs and dances from this film make me smile. They even make me smile when Im having a bad day! LOVE IT!

  • Pure genius! :D

  • lol please take out the troll from the poll up there ^

  • 0:56-1:02

    Amazing

  • legends.

  • OMG 1 DISLIKE LOL! :D

  • There's something very unsettling about Gene Kelly's "showman face" at the end.

  • Scientists claim monkeys would be able to recreate Shakespeare, but they could never even begin to develop the majestic beauty, creativity, and fun displayed in this scene/movie.

  • One person just wanted to be mentioned in the comments.

  • Donald is so ADORABLE and CUTE.<3

  • These guys are crazy talented.

  • starting at 0:56 I LOVE THAT PART

  • clearly the 1 person that disliked this doesn't sing in the rain

  • At first I really thought they were playing the violins..then I noticed it wasn't real but it was so convincing. AMAZING no one can compare to Gene Kelly or Donald O'Connor.

  • Fuera! XD (of course NOT)

  • I think that the audience isn't "booing", but rather going "oooh!" :S.

  • @Toya9998: Absolutely! Jawdropping dance moves. The highlight of a a very inspired piece of choreography. So glad you pointed it out!

  • Gene Kelly + Donald O'Conner = Amazing

  • What actually makes this fabulous, is not just the spectacular talent. It's also the fact that they make it seem so effortless. What and inspiring pair of performers

  • @giannalepera i happen to think these guys are amazingly talented and i also believe id be able to do this before u will so fuck off wack bitch

  • @chineseblackjew She wasn't insulting them. She was telling someone else off. She was telling someone else to show respect. Next time, read a little more carefully.

  • this shit kills underprivileged kids urban gay dance movies.

  • @chineseblackjew this "shit" is something u cannot do and will never be able to do. Show a little respect

  • I love :56 to 1:02 :D!!! AMAZING!

  • This is a real movie. They were actully PLAYING that song! Its sounds much better than a computer recorded song

  • Also, might I just point out that this was one take? !!! :o no short takes here!

  • That IS Entertainment :D

  • Wow,that's what I call multi-tasking!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The person who dislilked this video doesn't make more money than calvin coolidge...put together!

  • WOW! Gene and Donald are just pure magic and so much fun to watch! I can watch Gene Kelly all day long! They brought so much charm, humor and great timing to their performance!! I wish people today could still do that..

  • Pure frickin talent! Made my day!! And the fact that I'm fourteen and I love these guys, shows some hope for my generation!

  • these two were REAL dancers. these were the standards. they seemed to have dropped somewhat over the years. do you have any idea how much leg muscle is needed? and insane amount!

  • Excuse me youtube, this video has a dislike button, please remove it for it is clearly not needed.

  • @TheTripletrouble6712 one person clearly thinks otherwise

  • Donald O'Connor <3

  • I want that outfit. Mad plaid, yo

  • I jsut have to say that this number and Debbie' 'All I do is dream of you' and 'Moses suposes' are my favorite songs, BUT I love the whole film and .... ...

'I CAN'T STAN' 'IM ' ...whoever it was who disliked this clip... hee hee :0)x

  • WOW I have watched this twice over, once watching the incredible foot-work and the 2nd time to watch their VERY expressive faces... Brilliant O'Conner and Kelly at their best.. LOVE 'EM and ADORE the MOVIE :0)x

  • I love it when they drop the violins and they bounce back up. The first time i saw it i thought they actually dropped them!

  • He no doubt visit`s this page quite often and says to himself, "That`s me that is, i put that dislike up there". and sit`s there really pleased with a smug grin on his face. A little bit sad really.

  • that one dislike (god help their soul) is clearly someone from that audience.

  • oh i love this this is th ebest i want to do nothing bu tlisten to this i want to do that when i'm grown up!

  • 1 person doesn't have a fiddle :/

  • I don't know if they're really playing the violins or not, but I have no doubt that they could probably pull off an act like this in real life!

  • even if theyre not really playing the violins, this is still freaking amazing.

  • aaahhh.. generation where talent is a must if you want to be an actor!!!

  • one person has no musical integrity

  • audiences everywhere adored us.

    bboooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!

    LOL

  • amazing <3

  • Can I hav a super power called singing in the rain where i instantly dance as amazingly as them?LOL i wish

  • @ncis19561 Adorable and super-talented Donald danced on rollerskates BEFORE Gene did. Check out the I Love Melvin clip from 1953, several years before Gene did his number. And, for pure physicality you can't beat Donald in Make 'Em Laugh - considered by film historians and critics to be the best comedy dance number ever put on film. Donald won the Golden Globe for his role as Cosmo Brown.

  • Gene Kelly had to be THE best "physical" dance of his time.... It was amazing what he could do. You should check out his tap dancing on roller skates video from the movie "it's always Fair Weather". I wish i had one ounce of the talent he had. Truly amazing

  • @Truebeatlesfan15 Lol, Just looked at your comment about a minute after mine :D

  • For the longest time i thought they were really playing the violin. Now, that I'm grown and am a tap dancer and violinist...its very hard to do both. I love this <3 I have chills.

  • He looks like he's about to laugh the entire time! XD

  • Oh yes and let met just say I can't take my eyes off Gene Kelly (naturally, of course).

  • Ahhhh, REAL entertainment.

  • $100 to anyone who could do that again! I wish dancers now a days would do stuff like this instead of the boring things they do now. These two guys are true dance heroes.

  • @chris169425

I just saw a play of this! And they pulled it off very well! Not as good but still amazing! Just look around you'll find some!

  • Holy crap...how did they do that?

  • audiences everywhere adored us....

    damn straight

  • they must have had some great looking legs!

  • let's see the dance youth of today pull off some of those moves! Sheer skill.

  • let's see the dance youth of today pull off some of those moves! Sheer talent.

  • i love this movie!!

  • I never noticed the bird before ... guess he was hidden in the neck of the violin. I always watch Donald O'Connor ... he's so fun in this and dances just as good as Gene Kelly . Thanks for posting

  • normally when i see actors faking violin playing it makes me mad

but this is so entertaining it doesnt matter anyway

  • Jesus Christ!

  • OK seriously?? WHY DID THE CROWD BOO!? I would've legitimately freaked out if I got to see an act that good.

    Silliness.

(Mostly because I don't think it's possible for someone to sing, dance, and play the violin at the same time... But whatever. I don't really care. ^_^)

  • @DiznyFanGerl That's the point. In the story, these guys are pouring their hearts out, and the audiences just don't care. So, off to Hollywood they go. Furthermore, in the movie, Gene Kelly is explaining his storybook rise in the industry, which is just full of lies-hence, "audiences everywhere adored us" when they clearly don't.

You really MUST see "Singin' in the Rain." One of the funniest, most charming movies out there.

  • @DiznyFanGerl Because the screenwriter said so.

  • Gene Kelly's facial expressions make me laugh.

"Audiences every where adored us." As people boo in the background. So funny.

  • LOL playing it like a guitar!

  • Ha Cha Cha!

  • One of the best musicals, full of great dance and song numbers.....I always believed Donald O'Connor was very underrated . As an excellent dancer, singer and actor he should have received more accolades from his peers...

  • That is just an amazing amount of talent in a little one and a half minute clip :D

  • i will not rest until i find out where the flowers came from!!!!!!!! lol

  • even though we can tell they arn't playing, we know they are singing and dancing....still awesome. ^^

  • I like 0:00-1:32 XD (the song is just fun/funny XD)

  • At 1:19...MAN you have to have some SERIOUS muscles to do THAT....Haha, they really were fit as fiddles.

I really wish this video was in HD, because I swear, seeing their FACES while they're doing this makes it 10x funnier/awesome.

Gene Kelly always has this overly energetic smile on his face, it's hilarious!

My fave part is at 0:49 where Donald's violin stick is stuck in Gene's hand, and gene is just grinning away still doing his dance...while Donald pretends to play the violin like a guitar.

  • great movie one of my favourites

    theses actors were actually entertaining

  • cantaban , bailaban, actuaban que buenos eran ,ahora seria imposible hacer una pelicula musical como aquellas

  • 1:01& 1:13 were amazing! how do they do that!!

  • 0:56 perfect

  • second that!

  • what really amazing is their footwork.

just ONE of those moves difficult and they did them all one after another.

  • Perfect! Genial! Great! Fantastic!

  • these guy are the best ever!!! why can't they have movies like this anymore?

  • that's fucking INSANE!

    i can't even macerena right!

  • If you notice that Donald O'Connor is the only one moving his fingers to the notes of the violin:) Just an observation:-D Great clip and classic movie!

  • Either way hes not moving his fingers like you would on a real violin and they're in the wrong position... not like they had the technology to record all this on set...

  • lol... why did the crowd boo? That was awesome! I <3 this movie :) And these guys.

  • ah back when to actually had to be talented to be an actor, and not just a pretty face. these two are so entertaining through the entire movie.

  • Actually, if you think about the time period of movies, it was exactly the opposite. All you had to do to be an actor was be a pretty face, since you didn't need to speak =D

  • @raxor1212 actually, this is a vaudeville show, and back then in vaudeville shows you didnt have to be talented, just entertaining! if you could entertain the audience, BOOM! you had a career!

  • @raxor1212 Yeah but they also had pretty faces, so that helps!

  • THANKS so much for posting this delightful number from my all time favorite movie musical (Singin in the Rain)! It never fails to brighten my day. Gene Kelly & Donald O'Connor were truly two in a million...what an awesome team they made. Hope you have a Thanksgiving holiday that is filled with fun! :)

  • "BOOO!" "audiences everywhere adored us." lol Love love love. that's talent.

  • Donald was a more theatrical dancer than Gene... But they were both amazing. I love this dance number because they make it look like second nature! Phenomenal. :)

  • My fav dance scene in the whole movie!

It couldn't have been easy to keep up with a great (tho sometimes tyrannical) dancer like Kelly... O'Connor matched him step for step throughout the film.

  • i dunno how they keep that smile on for that long lol

  • I love the stupid grin on Gene Kelly's face after he obliviously takes Donald's violin bow. Priceless!

  • Comment removed

  • Really? Well, you start them slow, keep practicing. When you are done, post your video on You Tube. Lets see if you can dance just like these two great dancers.

  • christ calm down

i was just sayin if you wanted to be like them you could learn to do the steps and then gradually build it up

i love these guys i would never slag their dancin off

  • its better than some vaudervill acts

  • This is better than the crap that passes for dancing now and since the great dancers like Kelly, Astaire and O'Cooner have died.

  • Why on earth are they booing at the end??

  • It's supposed to have been an extreamly cheesy preformance. This dance number was from the part of the movie where Don Lockwood describes his glamourus accent to fame, while the camera is showing that Don's lying about everything.

You'll notice at the end he says, "Audiances everywhere addored us" while they're booing.

  • Yeah I understand that, I was just saying that it would have made more sense if it was a bad performance like it was supposed to be.

  • I don't think it was supposed to be "bad" so much as just extreamly cheesy. Back then, people on stage had a lot more talent than they do today, so there was a higher bar to meet.

  • 0:57 old skool spongebob dat's cool

  • I love this film sooooo much.

  • Ugh! Seeing them dance makes me want to learn tap soooooo bad! They are just so amazing!

  • 1:02 is thee best!

  • :D no kidding!

that would be ridiculous if it was them, but I still stick to my question!! WHERE CAN ONE OBTAIN VIOLIN MUSIC FOR THIS DUET!!!!

  • they are not really playing the violin. it was added after word by profsionals.

  • Adore this song!!

IF ANYONE KNOWS WHERE ONE MIGHT BE ABLE TO PURCHASE THE VIOLIN MUSIC FOR THIS SONG IT WOULD IN INSANELY APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

  • Gene Kelly and Donald O'Conner were pure magic together! I love this movie.

  • 0:57-1:02 is my favorite part! :)

  • same here :) i wish they made that part longer

  • I have no idea how they do that!!

I'm trying to replicate it and I keep falling down!

    -Henry

  • @msofjobee57 oh yess that foot work it just amazing!!! they are so smooth and they just seem to float across the stage :D:DD:D:D

  • @msofjobee57 Mine too!!! They're perfect...

  • @msofjobee57, yeah. I know. Now that's REAL dancing. Not like today's crap

  • @msofjobee57 thats the best part!!!

  • @msofjobee57 0:01 to 1:32 is my favorite part :D

  • @msofjobee57 0:00-1:37 is my favorite part

  • @njrobinson95 o.o....I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool

  • Gene Kelly e Donald O'Connor são os melhores \o\ Amo esse número =D
