This subfloor system is not water impermeable. They never quite push together and there is always OSB exposed on the bottom of the subfloor. They really don't give either, much easier to use Delta-FL or Platon subfloor systems, they roll out & you can use full pieces of Plywood over - much more cost effective and truely moisture impermeable.
@thunder4u * bucks, last year they were 5.98 and they recently went up a buck. 6.98 now at home depot rona etc. A better method is to buy platon by the roll and then get tongue and groove sheet of ply wood and tap con them to the floor. Cost about 2 bucks, better finish and faster.
Or you could always do what they do in commerical buildings sometimes and if your concrete floor is halfway level you can ramset 4X8 sheets of CDX Plywood right to the concrete

I recently put some of this product in my basement. If you sand the edges that stick out smooth it will go together quite well, otherwise you are in for a lot of misery. It warmed my floor up nicely.
I put some of this down recently and if you sand the edges that stick out with a small orbit sander with 80 or 100 grit paper the pieces will actually go together fairly easy, otherwise your in for one great big bunch of misery.... I also use 5/8" brads with my small nail gun to make sure. It has made my basement shop a lot more comfortable.
OSB is pretty durable and is great advantages over plywood. The video perfectly illustrates one of its many uses.

now all they need to do is put that green plastic coating on these (from your wall sheathing video) and you would have a waterproof subfloor....

@EquipmentPhoto The company that makes the green wall sheathing does, in fact, make a special board for flooring and roofs!

Are we splitting hairs here? Look at the title of the video.

Where can I purchase these panels?
I just tried Googling them, but all I come up with are more links to your video.
Is there a brand name (or some other detail) that will expedite my search?

They are sold at the big box stores. Look in the lumber department. Dri-Core comes to mind. I could be wrong about the name.

This is pretty cool. I just put down interlocking gym flooring to save money.

Yes, that is an option. Be sure not to forget a vapor barrier!

they never do that, there would be absolutely no point to doing that

For a similar but cheaper solution, buy a roll of Platon and 4x8 sheets of OSB subfloor. I found this to be about a quarter of the cost of dricore.
Also, many flooring materials (adhesive tile, vinyl, etc...) will require a layer of underlayment to get a nice flat, smooth surface.
ricksite 4 years ago
Hi ricksite -
Where did you buy the Platon? Should the OSB be 3/4" or can you go with a thinner subfloor over Platon and a basement floor?

I did not know this kinf of basment flooring existed, but I will be pricing it over the weekend. Thanks Tim.
