If you use a fork to mash the flour and butter together it comes out like bread crumb its easier than using a knife. hope you don't mind me giving you this advise. happy baking !

you really need to try this stuff. i don't know what state you live in but we have it in SC. it's"Southern Biscuit" brand biscuit mix. it's not the flower you have to get the biscuit mix. just add buttermilk. it already has the shortning and soda.
try walmart for it. i've had lots of homemade biscuits... if you can find it, try this, trust me

I had just the opposite problem. I could make perfect biscuits, but my gravy was lacking. It is on my to-do list to learn. But I agree biscuits can be eaten in different ways, but gravy is useless without biscuits. Well, there's country fried chicken; yum, yum. great vid!
