I knew Renato and his wife Moreen personally as neighbours in the 1970s and when I was a small child I used to know Moreen as Auntie Moreen. Amanda, his daughter was a childhood friend. We used to live on Hollydale Road in Erdington, Birmingham. I remember my family and I all watching Renato on opportunity knocks when he was told he'd never make it big, but he did with the Christmas 1982 No.1, although he flopped after that. Sadly Renato passed away on 29th July 2009 at the age of 69.

I was born Oct 1980 and funnily enough, this bring the Xmas no.1 of 1982 is one of my very earliest vague memories.. remember when I'd just turned 2 and hearing this round my grandparents house at xmas on the tele/radio.. so deep in my memory its kinda strange but so lovely.. :) x

there is a simple reason for that, she is not renee! renee was working with another band at the time and was unavailable so a model was used. her name was val penny. strangley enough she dies 4 days after renato.
