  • I STILL can't beat the Minotaur demon....

  • great review !

i am a casual gamer so i am really not sure if i should go for this game

it looks really nice and bosses seem great.. but is it really that hard to master - or ist it just harder than the normal cheep kiddy type of games out there where you ofthen cant even die!?

i hate when games are too easy but i dont have more time than eg. 8 hours per week to play so i am not sure if this game is for me

can somebody set this into perspective please?

    thank you!

  • @anferny18011981 this game is purely one of the most rewarding experiences you will have in gaming, but yes it does require alot of patience and thought and skill. compared to titles today that are popular like say uncharted 3 , mw3, skyrim, yes this game is VASTLY harder then those titles, this is an old school RPG that requires you to stradegize every single opponent because no matter how good your armor or level is , any enemy can end your life at any point if you run in wreckless 10/10 game.

  • best game i have ever played.

  • does anyone know a way to play it on PC??

  • @Nirvanna18 If it's not on PC, it's not on PC.

  • @Nirvanna18 there IS NO WAY to play on PC LEGALLY!!

  • <3<3<3 this game

  • The games not that great. It seems rushed and the soul cheat wrecked it good.

  • @RetroGamer3 theres always cheats in games (and in life). just dont go there. ends up ruining a fantastic game.

  • @RetroGamer3 the souls cheat was patched before most played the game, and it doesnt effect pvp after the patch cause those people cant use the saves online that they used the glitch. plus its your choice to use it i agree it ruins it. rushed?????

  • Comment removed

  • i cant wait to play this and massacre all those bitches enemies

  • lol Big Dick Willi

  • heres what you gotta know about the game: DONT GET FUCKIN CURSED !!!.

after beign cursed turn the ps3 off and just play with your dog using the disc as as frisbee. XD

  • @YoUrMoMsRiGhThErE just buy cure curse off the guy in the gargoyles tower. back to normal.

  • @YoUrMoMsRiGhThErE curse really that's so easy to get rid of.

  • @TVJ3W you probably got a different curse, mine fucked me up like for ever, it made me put the game away, thats me being nice cause i was gonna throw the game away or play frisbee with it or some shit XD

nah i dont got the time for that shit....(got places to go & bitches to catch)

  • I must say that I took the risk of buying this game new, and ended up getting the collector's edition. My first time playing it I was just frustrated and angry -- I felt like I wasted my money. After spending more time with it, I realize that it's just a more hardcore, traditional RPG. I remember the "old days" when PC RPGs used to kick your ass from the first battle onward, and they required real careful planning and strategy.

I can appreciate this game now, but it takes so much time!

  • I laugh and the people who are worried a game is to hard I bought the witcher 2 because it was said that the combat was challenging and it was but it was also super fun so I think I need this game!!!'

  • I dont like hard games but this looks to awesome to not play

  • @raul1794 if you don't like hard games then this is not the game for you, it is already harder than most games even on their "insane" modes and if you play through it and go into new game+ everything in the game gets 3 times harder still, so yea, good luck, I will say it's probably one of the best games I've played and I wish I never used any sort of walkthrough or guide for it, I would probably still be playing it now, though the PvP aspect is shit...

  • hard as shit and fun as hell, that sums up this game x)

  • This is the best game I've played in years.

  • If you think this looks like skyrim your blind

  • This game sounds awfully difficult. Cool looking enemies.

  • This game is fucking amazing. The only way they could improve on the Souls series is to impliment a real immersive story line. But if they do that it could either make or break the game... The game is so good that it doesn't really need too much of a story. Its just fun as hell! I have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on this game and i still haven't done everything.

  • @VoreTechz1985 There was a good storyline in both games. It was just hard as hell to find it on your own. Like when Ostrava commits suicide.

  • @aarforce13 If you call someone killing themselves a story, you must work for CNN or Fox News.

  • @VoreTechz1985 So I guess Shakespeare knows nothing about plot then. I was more of talking about Ostrava's fall from relative greatness.

  • This game is awesome. Better than Skyrim.

  • @The1andonlyBDye After having played both and enjoying both significantly, I have to disagree. Skyrim is MUCH more accessible and instead of you having to fear every corner and constantly redo shit you just spent 20 minutes doing, you feel empowered and can just reload if need be. I like both games quite a bit, but I have to say Skyrim beats Dark Souls thanks to its accessibility and sheer capacity for entertainment. There's an immense amount of content.

  • @CyberdarkVenom true but dark souls is alot more intence with a greater sence of satisfaction upon completing the game

  • @ccomsart I agree, but I have to say that those just aren't enough to hold it up against Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking Dark Souls, it just isn't as much fun overall because of the fear and frustration. Great game for an occasional session, though.

  • @The1andonlyBDye AMEN!

  • @The1andonlyBDye Maybe....maybe not...But its still your opinion ^.^ ( GOOOO SKKKKKYYYRRRRRIIIIIMMM!!!) cough*

  • @The1andonlyBDye Do yourself a favor: Stop comparing games and enjoy each and everyone as its own.

  • @The1andonlyBDye hell no skyrims better :D

  • @The1andonlyBDye Dark Souls and Skyrim are COMPLETELY different games. its like comparing ghost recon to battlefield.Yes they both have guns, they are both set in the modern day world but they play COMPLETELY different and each has its own unique direction.

  • @capcom23

You're right! Something like this would be a better castlevania game than a God of War type thing.

  • This game reminds me actually of Castlevania (symphony of the night). The new Castlevania game should be just as dark as this one with RPG elements. Konami this is how it should be done!

  • this game is big boy skyrim

  • How did you start off as a reviewer, and how did people find out about you?

  • they should have kept the world tendency or make that if you kill gwynevier the whole world turn black. would make the game harder.

  • Well you forgot to give a grade for this game! Hello a GRADE????

  • @capcom23 he never grades them dude, and thats why i enjoy watching him.

  • @ResidentRetro awww i always like to see the grades :-). But I see why no grade since it's just an opinion of the player.

  • @capcom23

we all know the game is amazing so it doesn't matter x)

  • looks like skyrim to me!

  • theres a difference between graphics and asthetics

  • LoL @ 5:20 I just killed Maneater Mildred a couple hours ago when he invaded my game.

  • Up to the gargoyles the game has been piece of cake for me.

  • for all of those saying this game is easy or not that hard, it is REALLY hard, i died 10+ times for the witch in blightown and 20+ for the bosses in anor londo (dragon slayer and executioner)

it is very hard for a begginer, sure it gets easier when you get a grip of the game but still hard

  • i want this game.... really badly

  • do you like ps3 or xbox360 better

  • What makes Dark souls a real game, is the story, you need to think when you play dark souls not like most games that are: go there and kill them, then a cinematic appears and the story explanation pop up and the challenge is the best because is not a 5 hours game haha

  • My first time playing this game I absolutely hated it. I got destroyed. Yet, I persevered and it payed off. Now, it's one of my favorite games.

  • @Medevil9908 welcome to the club bro=). we all now the feeling. hail dark souls!! hail namco bandai!!

  • @Medevil9908 only bad thing is the PvP which is really bad to be honest...

  • this is actually not that hard if you finish the game and restart again.

on my second play through I did 24 hrs of gameplay on my first character within 7hrs

  • This game is amazing, and hard, and awesome, i love it

  • @JeanAlexSS Play a Mage in Anor Londo and ariamis :)

  • This is not a review...This a HUUUUUGE SPOILER....Seriously mate....Be careful what info you give about a game...come on.....

  • @thodkats

its a REVIEW, not a PREVIEW. spoilers are expected.

  • The entire "bonfire revives enemies wehweh" argument doesn't make any fucking sense. Once you reach the bonfire, you are PAST those enemies, so you DON'T have to fight them again.

Also, this game isn't frustrating. The level in Uncharted 3 with the heavily armoured guy on the ship or the fire monsters, THOSE were frustrating. Dark Souls just requires attention.

  • This game is without a doubt awesome . . . but seriously though, modesty aside, this game is actually not that hard . . . It's challenging, but it's not punishing or tormenting like 95% of the people who play it says it is . . . I just beat it and I never got stuck anywhere as in the difficulty does not really hinder your progress that much, the strategy for most battles including boss fights are more or less the same, keep your shield up, circle your enemy, then attack . . . works everytime

  • Dark Souls is sooooo fucking hard ...it literally sucks your balls dry ...i got stuck on the very first fight of the game.. :(

  • i like this game just as much as skyrim well done

  • I watched your review, I rented the game, and I beat it. I say, I enjoy this game a lot more than Skyrim! This is coming from a gamer who doesn't like RPGs! :D

  • I like this game, it's dark and gritty, beating bosses is soo satisfying, imo it's a better game than skyrim.

  • @Fishmonkey123 Not everything was dark and gritty in DS. Londo was pretty colorful! Especially the library! :)

  • This game is difficult in parts but I never once felt frustrated. I don't know why. I got frustrated as hell playing Uncharted 3 and a few parts in Skyward Sword have had me screaming with frustration but I never felt that way when playing Dark Souls. I've completed Dark Souls twice now. Saying its awesome doesn't do it justice.

  • @JMarston93 i agree the game is not overly difficult on your first playthrough. the only parts that really pissed me off though was smough and ornstein. New game + is a different story though without any coop help

  • I have Demon's Souls but don't really like it. I don't know if it's because of the level design, or the fact that combat isn't very engaging right now, it's either easy pawn type enemies or enemies that take ridiculous damage, but I just can't enjoy it. It has nothing to do with the difficulty. How is dark souls in this aspect? In Demon's Souls, when I'm walking around, I don't feel like I'm doing anything. The exploration of Dark Souls seems to be more fun than the "beat this level" of Demon's.

  • @TheWitty135 Also, the visuals of Demon's Souls lack variety to me. Dark dungeons, dark swampy area, dark fiery area, etc. There's also no shine on armor, maybe it's just the settings on my TV, but everything in Dark Souls screams interesting, engaging awesomeness.

  • @TheWitty135 Not sure how you can say the combat isn't engaging in Demon's Souls, when it's the same as Dark Souls. If you didn't like Demon's Souls, you won't like Dark Souls.

  • big dick willie? niiiiice

  • Is this game much more difficult than Gothic 2? And how is the dialogue? I dont recall him addressing it.

  • @steinblood Theres barely any Dialogue its mostly Gameplay and Player's Interpatation of the Story. Plus Yes it is Very hard.

  • @delta2ish Hmm. How is the story? What do you do in the game for the most part?

  • @steinblood The story isnt very heavy. Its mostly told by Items Info and Little dialogue but it isnt very big part of the game. The main objective of the game is to Conquer The world of Dark souls and when you do you feel like a total badass.

  • @steinblood Dark Souls is not as hard as people make it out to be. Although it is harder than Gothic 2 controlling your character is 10 times easier and much more intuitive.

  • @TriniCoda Would you recommend I buy it?

  • @TheDementedWendigo YES! It is the the best game I have ever played! As an example of how much I love the game, I NEVER replay a game I've completed or rewatch a movie I've seen, yet I have 5 characters in Dark Souls, 70-90 hours on each ;) Enjoy.

  • @TriniCoda :D Thanks man, I'll go out and get it.

  • I don't think this game is really hard, it's just harder than all of the easy as hell games we have been playing for the past 5 years. You just have to think, which you don't in most new games.

  • @DragonLcver

Yeah I agree with ya. All these easy games we've getting over the years have really soften our gaming skills. That's probably the reason why many thought this game was hard. But not too hard.

  • @tokyo200 I played modern warfare 2 for several months. Two days worth of gaming in that, Oh a nuke here, and a nuke there. I play Crash Bandicoot which I used to be able to beat in only like 5 hours or so. First level... took me forever...

  • @DragonLcver bullshit, its HARD haha

  • @Xdeser1 Well, if you're reckless it's hard. First playthrough, my first death was in... trying to remember her name.. Quelogg? well, that boss fight. Only because I had no estas flasks. Never saw anything of the game beforehand 'cept trailers. I'll admit, I was lucky, especially when fighting the kapra (?) demon (almost died).

  • @DragonLcver true. there were only 2 times where i was like wow thats fucking impossible. but for the most part the games challenging but reviews exaggerate ssooo much. they make me feel like im really good at video games cause they act like its the hardest game ever created. they never played contra on the NES without cheat codes

  • @DragonLcver it's not hard if you have a guide, lets plays, or the wiki. But going on your own is a BEAST.

  • @treepizzle However, that is cheating. I would never look something up unless I already know it. I usually only watch let's plays for the commentary, not the game. Besides, I didn't even know this game existed before Christmas when my brother got it for me and said he heard it was a good game. I would say Brave Fencer Muzashi is harder than this game to be honest.

  • @DragonLcver Um bullshit. This game is difficulty because it test you in situations that you normally wouldn't be tested in. For example, Demons Souls, the previous title, abuses the idea of choosing between fighting a hard boss alone, or fighting with a friend and raping the boss without a challenge. Don't even say video games don't take much thinking because games like L.A. Noire challenges how well you are able to analyze the persons face, and last time i remembered, that takes thinking.

  • @MrZeevideos Please, this game is as difficult as a Final Fantasy. You just learn the patterns of the enemy and it becomes ridiculously easy. And L.A. Noire is a completely different style. And why mention Demon Souls? Is your point to argue that this game is difficult or that I'm wrong in saying that the majority of games lately have been so easy in gameplay and not narrative driven enough that they're boring? Or both...

  • @DragonLcver Yeah. Evreyone bitches abut it being uber hard. If you use your head, its not that hard. (I havent layed it that much, but i made it to the wolf boss with the sword in its mouth, when i was barrowing it from my freind, wich if im not mistaken, is decently far.)

  • @Breezy2Freshv3 I personally found Sif really easy, but I hear a lot of people have trouble with him. Not easy, but like... You just dodge and attack. His attacks are really predictable.

  • @DragonLcver Yeah, I beat him but after that my freind needed the game back, becuase he was moving. Just kinda get underhim and you should be good.

  • Lol his name is Big Dick Willi

  • he said it HARD AS SHIT. cant change the settings on it. play it how it is and figure it out.

  • After playing Skyrim, Uncharted 3, Batman AC, Portal 2, Mortal Kombat and Dead space 2 I still find this game as my game of the year followed by those games I mention!!

  • The tutorial boss of Demon Souls kills you with one hit, the sewer boss of Dark souls was a joke.

On Dark Souls you choose to save or not, on Demons Souls it saves when it wants.

Not disrespecting Dark Souls, just recomending to anyone new to play Demons Souls First.

  • @StopForChildren Try to beat the Stray demon while being underleveled, yeah its not that easy. Gotta admit though Demons souls felt less cheap with its bosses compared to Dark souls(yes the Maneaters included). Just cant stand gimmicky bosses like the bed of chaos

  • @justmedawg I know, i beat Demons souls with a Barbarian (wooden club) until 5 bosses later, cause most weapons suck for that class until yeah your a decent level wich takes like forever to be a on a decent one. like beat em up games so almos no use of magic for me... The diference with Dark Souls is that you actually have the desicion to choose when you save and for me that makes it less difficult not to mention the les cheap bosses as you say..

  • Is this game really that hard because I really want to play but if its that hard and frustrating I won't bother so could someone please tell me.

  • @MafiaRooster Its hard when you first play it but as you get yourself used to the way the game works, it can be really satisfying. Personally, I dont enjoy this game because its meant to be hard, I enjoy it because of the beautiful world and unique game mechanics and online play.

  • @MafiaRooster

I think the difficulty of Dark Souls is a bit overplayed.Compared to every other game out there yes it's very difficult and it will take some time to get used to it but in time you get a feel for combat and will get better.

If a Boss is too tough you can go grind up levels and try again or call upon friends or NPC summons to help.

One thing to be said for the difficulty....when you do defeat a tough area or Boss you gain a sense of accomplishment no other game can provide

  • @MafiaRooster

And the sense of utter relief when you find a Bonfire is utterly unique to this game.

  • @MafiaRooster This game is hard but if you have patience and learn as you go you will defenintly enjoy it and if you need help and you have a ps3 hit me up my psn's "draketheawesome" otherwise yes its totaly worth it

  • do i have to have xbox live to play this?

  • i think im going to try this after skyrim, but im kind of intimidated about the difficulty

  • Hard as shit and fun as hell. lol

  • anyone else thought the gaping dragon was easy?

  • are there no pc version for this?

  • @dodow1234 nope,just console

  • the reason they didnt call it demons souls 2, is because sony thought that demons souls shouldn't have been made. if from soft were to make demon souls 2 sony would probably make them lower the difficulty, not wanting to do that, they went with a new publisher and called it dark souls since sony owns the rights to the name demons souls.

  • Haven't played this game, but Demon Souls was a tad bit harder than what I'm used to. Way too frustrating. I had to put the game controller down in order to hold onto my sanity.

  • @GoldenScorpion87 Then you better stay far away from this game.

  • PS3 version is the best. You won't find the hardcore fanbase on the xbox 360.

  • This game is fucking awesome!!

  • Lol @ the thumbnail

  • I have been playing games made by Bethesda since 2002 but i think im going to have to look into this

  • @claytownusa1 you only play games by bethesda?

  • @F1NGE no of course not

  • @claytownusa1 oh ok lol, bethesda is pretty epic though

  • Sup people. I was just wondering if anybody out there would care to give me some titanite chucks and maybe even a slab or two. I'm trying to max out my Steel Set and some weapons before I go into Anor Londo and any further in to the game. I can summon you or you can summon me at the very beginning of Anor Londo. My character is Lv. 71 and my PSN name is MaliciousMayhem (message me first). Anything you can give would be helpful. I know that there's a ton of helpful Dark Souls players out there a

  • but hell isn't very fun :/

  • this game is way harder then Demon souls i completed Demon souls with a SL1 charecter this one i cant even complete on a normal playtrough

  • i bought the crystal straight sword, and was happy, but i was pissed when i read that i coud not repair it, and it only has 60 durability. lesson learned- read description or screw yourself over

  • Attention casuals! This game is not for you.

  • @koreyu90 i thought i was a casual gamer until i played this game, it's not that bad, but i got pretty pissed off at alot of moments.I just entered blight town and i hate it, but i'm doing it anyway since i already rang the other bell. why is crap an item you pick up, that is annoying but maybe it has good damage.

  • @invisiblefiddle This may sound a bit weird, but those are dung giants! :D I imagine they're mutated creatures that spawned from the poison and various toxic shit down there. You'll definitely see what I mean by dung giants when you see the actual dung beetle giants.

  • Do you prefer Dark Souls to Skyrim?

  • @gilgamesh310 Yes

  • @ZeitgeistReview I can't get anywhere in Dark Souls. Ive made it to the bell gargoyle but can't beat him. The game just makes me abandon all hope. It's the hardest game Ive played in the last 15 years.

  • @gilgamesh310 while it is indeed extremely tempting to make fun as to just what type of games have you been playing for the last 15 years, I'm gonna be the mature one here and ask what SL are you now and where are you now?? maybe I could try to co-op and help ya:P

  • @azzimaz well I did beat Ninja Gaiden and Devil May Cry 3, and they were fairly hard. Im at SL 9 and still at that same part. Ive ran into the moth boss and a hydra as well, but can barely put a scratch on them. I just feel the game is extremely sadistic and who's purpose is simply to make people cry.

  • @gilgamesh310 Hmm, then it seems to me that perhaps your approach to this game is wrong then. I've beaten those games too but keep in mind those games are the kind of hard games where its required to have a twitch finger mentality to dodge, counter and kill all those enemies, where else in Dark Souls its pure tactics and not how twitchy a player is. never rush in Dark Soul, always scout around in any new environments, dont attack first, instead observe the enemy for "gaps".

  • @gilgamesh310 and finally, use the humble yet amazingly efficient bow&arrow effectively. learn to "kite" and "pull" the enemies, remember a large number of enemies in Dark Souls and the game before Demons Souls dont pose a risk in small numbers, but will completely crush ya in large numbers. solution: try to separate your enemies, the standard SOP of DIVIDE & CONQUER very much applies to this game you'd be surprised of the results. lastly, same thing goes for the bosses, observe & attack:)

  • @gilgamesh310 oh and 1 last thing: preparation is key to success. as in carefully note what types of stuffs each vendor sells in any environment and know that if he/she is selling that stuff, chances are you'll probably gonna be needing it to the place you're going. example: the vendor before sewers selling anti toxic herbs and anti curse stones. not only that, whenever u go to a new dungeon, observe what the enemy is capable of inflicting ya, as in poison, curse, toxin, bleed. and then be prepared

  • @azzimaz yeah, Im not that good at RPG's. Would you be able to join me in co op and help me beat the Bell Gargoyle? I assume you have the game for PS 3.

  • @gilgamesh310 yeah sure, I could always try if the game lets me to join ya,lol. pm me your PSN i.d and I'll add ya and give it a try. I'm in Asian region btw, I dunno how the game match makes exactly since i also heard the Dark Souls p2p server only match makes people in a certain region and within a certain distance in that region. but again, I'm not sure if thats exactly the case since I practically very, very, very rarely co-op'ed with others so far and pretty much remained hollow, lol:P

  • @ZeitgeistReview that has to be the most liked "yes" comment I have ever seen o_O

  • "Big Dick Willi" LOL

  • they didnt call it "Demons Souls 2" because sony owned the rights to the name. if it was a sony exclusive, it would have been fine. but they wanted to branch, and had to work around it.

  • shit is soft and hell the antithesis of fun, so was that a bad review? lmao jk

  • Is there a very easy mode or just easy mode

  • @PrinceRPG Nope

  • @PrinceRPG Asking if there's a difficulty mode.... would lead me to believe you're thinking there actually IS one... which there's not. Your first playthrough is basically a normal/hard mode. After you beat it, you can start a "New Game+"... which is basically a very hard mode. There is no "Easy" when it comes from From Software.

  • @PrinceRPG actually, it gets harder the more you die.

  • @PrinceRPG

Yes, if you get the right items in the first playthrough, the second, and even third can be considerably easier (save for a couple of bosses...)

  • @PrinceRPG There is insane mode and smash your controller to pieces mode

  • Your review is hilarious. LOL!

  • I have to decide which one I get, Demon's Souls or Dark Souls. Can anyone tell which one is better?

  • @Laamafani2 Both are good. Get both. If you're looking for an online experience though, Dark Souls has way more players at the moment.

  • @ZeitgeistReview man your reviews looks almost like ign

  • @ZeitgeistReview can you enchant weapons like u did in demons souls??

  • @GeoBlack4 Kind of. All weapons are upgradeable. Once you upgrade most of them to a certain point you have several options to continue to upgrade them. You may upgrade raw damage, or add an elemental effect light lightning/fire/divine to them and then continue to upgrade that elemental effect.

  • @ZeitgeistReview Ah ok i get it... Cause i saw some demons souls pvp the other day and i saw a guy enchanting his katanas with "curse weapon" buff....I think that was the name.. So this buffs have been replaced by lightning fire and devine??

  • @GeoBlack4 There is a spell called Magic Weapon that adds a temporary enchantment to some weapons.

  • @Laamafani2 they both have there ups and downs, demons souls has better multiplayer, dark souls has ALOT more to do and has slightly better gameplay, i think u should try demons souls first to see if u like it, the game is around $15 now

  • Awesome review!! Covered every aspect, I wish all video reviews I watch were like this!!

  • subscribed. I hate reading reviews when people barely played a game. Especially reviews coming from random people on places like amazon and best buy. Most of those reviews are just pure garbage and sometimes people review games and haven't even touched the case of the game because of fanboyism (GTA fanboys reviewing SR3) (BF3 MW3 fanboys reviewing the other game) (Xbox fanboys reviewing ps3 exclusives) ect

  • I LOVE THE UPDATE!!!
