Never saw the movie. Any good reviews? This song must have been recorded just before he lost his voice. He sounds a little rough around the edges. He was one of the all-time best vocalists in pop music.
@swstryker The movie was amazing, I suggest finding it somewhere. I believe he's actually the singing voice of Garrett, not just a hired voice for the end credits... which is a good thing.
His rough-edged voice did perfect for the songs sung by that character, too - a world-weary blind hermit with the soul of a Knight.
Like I said - prefect singing role. You really need to watch it, it's got the best cast, a great story.... much better than most of what Disney made for years after.
I closed my eyes to wholly hear and absorb the unique tones and depth of his art—as all-encompassing to me as when I gazed from the view of Monet's Japanese bridge at Giverny above the water lilies and watched the willows dance in the breeze as it ruffled my hair, soaking in the fragrance of the foliage wafting through the air and listened to the birds do their original rendition of song. For those few minutes, everything else in the world disappeared...
Just to hear Steve's voice and talent come out in this song is a gift in itself. I remember when I bought the movie that this song belongs to so my daughter could hear a talent that I grew up listening to. Thank you so much for bringing back a memory. My daughter is Autistic and just loves listening to this song. She doesn't speak but just smiles from ear to ear when she hears this song.
