DO NOT DO THIS!!!!!! idiot. what you are basicaly doing is heating up all of the inerds, baaad! usualy the problum is overheating, ie the thermal paste is bad on the chips, so scrap it off and put new on, posibly need to reflow the chips first. dont bake the ps3.

This is called "chip creep" its obviously a manufacturing flaw. Sony just doesn't want a class action law suit on their hands. I think everyone with this problem should get going on one. Sony should get some "heat" for this. Just like the lemon law in cars....consumers should be protected.

Yeah, do that and go buy a 360, which I've had a E74 error and 4 RROD (yes, I said 4) which needed to be sent to a repair center and fixed 3 times and twice I got a new console. On the other hand my fat 60GB PS3 just died after buying it a launch. Which one is more dependable? Easily the PS3.

if you only temporally fix this then sell it before it stops again and try to pass it off for working your a piece of shit because you will just steal their money. sell the system without doing this first and make it very clear that this needs to be done almost every time they were to use it and list it under needs repair. it is illegal to sell an item that you know is broken and do not inform the buyer clearly on.

great.... the towell trick for a ps3 lol... this works on an xbox for about an hour then it will die again. Trouble is with this is that your heating other components aswell as the culprit. Just open it up, flux and heatgun the bad chips. Permanent fix, job done.

This is only a temp fix it does work but only for 5-30mins tops but it does work. its best just to pay a repair shop 30-40$ or repair it yourself its only thermal paste that needs redone.

this is so stupid, this is exactly what techs do but this is just a TEMP Fix;, techs actually open it and use the heat gun and point it to the chip and melt the solder, all your doing is heating it withouth opening it. this is nothing new.

If you doing with this video, it will melting the cover of heatsink. I opened it and found this. Don't use hairdryer. best way to open it and clean it before bake at 450 F around 10 minutes then after it, cool it down for an hour then reapply compound with arctic silver. it worked for me.

LET ME TELL YOU THE TRUTH: The towel trick is NOT a good idea, the motherboard is what you are attempting to awkwardly reflow and the capacitors on the motherboard can only tolerate half as much heat as what is required to reflow the motherboard so if you get it hot enough to work again then you can be sure you are messing your capacitors up real nice. Do it right or dont do it at all...
