It should be remembered that the paternal aunt of Shimr, Umm Banin bint Kharam, was the wife of Hazrat Ali (Karramallahu taala wajhah) and whose off-springs were Abbas, Abdullah, Jafar, and Uthman and all the four brothers were accompanying Imam Husain in this encounter. Thus Shimr was the paternal cousin of all the four brothers and also of Imam Husain (radiyallahu anh).

@UsmanAli771 And History tells that at the Night before Ashura, Shimr (curse upon him) offered Hazrat Abbas (a.s) and his brothers to give "Amaan" if they leave Imam Hussain (a.s)..

Amaan means they wont be harmed by Yazeed army.. But Hazrat Abbas (a.s) rejected tht Offer..

And Shias are those people who believes that Allah is one nd only God, Muhammad (P.B.U.H) is his Prophet and Hazrat Ali (a.s) and his 11 sons (a.s) are the Imams of Islam..

Shimr and Sanan were not Shia..
