    Translation please ???

  • Happy Birthday Nellie

  • Devine voice - clear as a bell and emotionally sooo expressive. Thanks, Dough

  • Magnificent expression...I am devastated

    for her!!! Thank you, Doug!

  • Thank you, Doug, for sharing my request. Melba's two versions of the Willow Song and Ave Maria are my absolute favorites, Ponselle and Tebaldi notwithstanding. The angelic purity of tone, dramatic expression, and dead center accuracy of intonation are vocal attributes of Melba's that serve greatly to enhance her performance of this scene.

  • Good Morning Nate: Always a pleasure. Thank YOU! Doug --

  • Some marvelous singing with some wondrous sounds.

Interpretively she makes it work. But, it is still an imperious Desdemona. This woman had servants. Listen to her dismiss Emilia with a lady of the castle, Emilia addio. It would be a strong Otello willing to take her on. But, what a voice!!

  • "Piangea tanto, tanto" cried out with real intensity, "io per amarlo e per morir" closer to tears. The last phrase a cri-de-cœur, the high B louder and more dramatic. A simpler, more rhethorical, more "modern" performance than 3 years before.

The Avemaria a bit more hushed, the high filatura on "Amen" just as gorgeous.

  • Doug -- tremendous.

    Thanks John

  • Hi John: Thanks.... very much! Doug --
