blog! as a custom coder a blog lets me setup a website in 5 minutes including the time to search for a wordpress theme. then I can get right to work on the meat of the site, which is the custom code that everyone asks for. Also my clients can edit the content themself in a simple way. Hands down blog. P.S. I only learned how to setup a blog a week ago.

A blog is just a kind of website, a way of organizing content. Your explanation is good. Disagree that blogs aren't referenced long-term. I have blog posts untouched for years that get visitors every day. Also disagree slightly on styling. If you know css and php, it's incredibly easy to change the appearance and navigation structure of a blog. A good blog is one part of a much bigger site.

Hi Lisa, you look great with the cap. I have been wrestling with this issue. I started a website, then went to a blog then back to a site and never completed any of them. Then just resently started working on list building. Just got an email trying to sell me on an ebook basically blogging a to z. So i started to do a search on which way to go and I found you on the tube. I have decide to stick with the website,finish the list building process and get the site finished. Thanks Lisa

Excellent video! Many people ask me this because they hear everyone talking so much about how blogs are better than static websites. In my experience blogs are more of a headache because they have to be continuously updated (not just posts, but plugin's, etc.).

Blogs are also spam magnets (via spam comments). It's so much easier for me to maintain a website, however, I do believe that blogs are necessary for certain things. For me I take the approach of build the website, then the blog.

I actually know someone who makes most of her money from YouTube and has no blog. But she has nearly 30,000 subscribers and over 150 videos. She makes most of her money from the YouTube partner program. So if you can become popular on YouTube you can do very well with video only.

But blog for me is for me to express my opinions, and website is to promote an display pictures, embed games, or make a wiki page, etc. Im using wordpress, Wp Mu, and buddypress, phpbb , and xhtml on my site, and i use coda to edit my site, but it is sure hard to edit, cuz i have to backup my stuff alot. Other than the "Site Blog" that comes with SBI!, you cannot add a WordPress or Blogger blog to your site.

Exactly. GoDaddy has an option in their hosting account area that allows you to install WordPress in a click of a button. I wouldn't buy Traffic Blazer. You can learn all that on your own.

BHD or not, sweetie, your gorgeous! I would just offer a couple of points.....from my experiences (disclaimer) lol!

Newbies take to blogging much quicker than html. I find creating traffic to a blog FAR easier than to a website. Updating: whatever schedule you start with, stick to, so readers know what to expect. And getting content for your blog can be really, really simple if you know a few easy "tricks".

I'm not too familiar with how that program but I wouldn't buy SBI! just to promote a single product./program. What SBI! would suggest you do is build a theme-based site on a topic related to GDI and build up some organic search engine traffic. Then you would recommend GDI as one of the opportunities on your site.

What book? Google purposely does not provide specific information about the ads in their database. One way to tell what kinds of ads that will show is to do a search for the keywords in Google and look at the ads that show up on the right.

Sure you can but it's a bad idea to just blog about different topics on one blog because it's very hard to generate enough of a traffic base so you can make money. It's much better to choose one topic because you'll have an easier time getting ranked in the search engines. Just remember, it takes time and is not easy just because blogger is free. You still have to learn how to draw traffic to it, otherwise you'll never make anything.

No, you cannot make a forum with blogger. You'll need a forum script like phpbb or vbulletin and install the script on your own hosting account. I'm not sure about blogger's account sign up feature but I know you can with WordPress.

It can but is not a guarantee your traffic will improve. Ranking higher in google happens as a result of updating your site frequently, using SEO (targeting keywords that are in demand) and most importantly getting inbound links from other related sites and blogs.

It was worth it for me, but just like everything else it's not for everyone. But I'm glad I built a website with AND without so I could effectively compare. I love that SBI! creates and submits your sitemaps and does a lot of behind-the-scene technical tasks (manages your mailing list, RSS feed, etc.) when you'd have to set these things up on your own with a regular host. If I wrote down all the extra tools and help you receive I'd run out of room here. :)

I think you could still apply the same philosophy in that scenario too. In my opinion, blogs are blogs no matter how they are created or bundled with website hosts. They are still perceived and have the same expectations as when they are stand-alone.
