I'm American and I find this funny! I'm actually underweight, but I do know that there are a lot of fat people in the US. And I really hate it. Obese people disgust me. If you're a little overweight I don't mind. But obesity is unacceptable.
What we call 'skinny' or 'bony' or 'really lean n' toned' was fairly well the typical physique till the mid 20th c. when processed, cheap, canned foods and white flower (a constipator and metabolism-shocker) became universal in a way they never had before. So we're stuck between commercial images of body-builders (gorillas) or obese people. This is a problem everywhere. Buddhist monks in Japan used to eat brown rice, now they eat white rice and you see more chubby ones as a result.
Your country is called the United States, doofus. "America" is the name of the continent which includes such places as Mexico, Canada, Brazil, etc. Sorry, no matter how obese you are, you can't claim all of the Americas.
