I'm an avid NIN fan so if it means anything I think this is an awesome cover. No, I don't care that she didn't feel like screaming the F word. It was very interesting hearing this from a female rather than a male voice. Comparing covers to originals is kind of fun, but I don't see why so many people get upset about trying to figure out which is "better". They're merely different.

I'm an avid NIN fan so if it means anything I think this is an awesome cover. No, I don't care that she didn't feel like screaming the F word. It was very interesting hearing this from a female rather than a male voice. Comparing covers to originals is kind of fun, but I don't see why so many people get upset about trying to figure out which is "better". They're merely different.

This cover was actually very good, the transition of Trent's deep, dark vocals to Lacey's more feminine dark vocals is great, and the music fits very well. I am pleased with this. (NIN's is better, of course)

Who are you talking about? I can't find any mention of Sameer Bhattacharya or Jared Hartmann in any NIN credits. Especially NIN's first album which this song is from. Look at how old they are... They would have been like 10 years old when Something I Can Never Have was written. That song came out in 1989.

.... the whole thing about reznor is you can literally feel the emotion that drips from the words he speaks in any given song of this nature by him. It was OK. However, she failed at conveying the intended message of the song. She did this by putting too much weird shit in her voice and not singing it as if she'd really felt it.

I have heard WAY worse from talentless bands before. Having said that, this is Flyleaf doing a NIN tune without trying to sound exactly like NIN, and it is well done. Correct tempo, feel, pitch and unique chick vocal. It's alright.
