  • super class

  • THANKS FOR POSTING THIS ! I was there, I was sixteen, that was my first moment of joy since my father died shortly before (thanks mum for letting me go - "they got a rocking party going down the street, hey mama don't you hear that beat" -) and I still remember Gene Vincent coming on stage with his clutches, how strong ! I had no idea this concert had been filmed -some emotion ! -. Thanks Gene for all those moments you gave us !

  • Oh yeah, The big 4 were, Gene Vincent, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Eddie Cochran. They were all wicked cool. The Beatles learned from all of them. They weren't like the crap that came out later, like Frankie Avalon, and all the other prefabricated teen idols, these guy were the shit.

  • Yes, Gene Vincent was the real thing alright.

He was practically banned in the USA in the late 50's. His first injury to his leg was when he was very young, a motorcycle accident. The second injury to the same leg was in 1960, when Eddie Cochran was killed.

  • This is true Rock and Roll!!!

  • This guy is the real thing. One of my all time favorite singers, among lennon and bon scott.

  • In the opening shots of this video Gene Vincent looks in pain. He is. Two and half years before this 1963 performance in Brussels, Gene had been in a serious auto accident while riding in a taxi cab in England with Eddie Cochran. Eddie was killed and Gene was crippled for life.

  • @FloorController He actually sustained the damaged leg orginally in a motor cycle accident while serving in the US Navy in the mid 50s. But you are right it was further damaged in the car accident, which killed Eddie.

The navy doctors wanted to amputate the leg from the start, but Gene refused. He suffered great pain from that moment on. I wonder sometimes how he managed. A truly great performer. I am glad I saw him live in the early 60s. The memories will always linger.

  • this is after the accident which killed eddie cochran if i am not wrong.gene was with him

  • Brilliant performance!

  • Cheers mate.
