Dan is just so cute and handsome!!! I love this song--love the guitar riffs with Barry "Byrd" Burton too.!! Dan always put together a fabulous band, each member great musicians in their own right! Recorded or live--Dan and the band were flawless!!!
My thoughts on the TIA album/cd?I believe the second side is probally the best of the two. I love both sides, don't get me wrong. I have never understood why he put those last three songs together on the first side? For me,it broke the flow of the album.I felt they were duck out of water, compared to the rest of the songs.Being all ballads, they did flowed well together. That would been my question to him, if ever gotten the chance.I love the more obscured songs that he did, than the radio tunes.
I met Dan when he came to my home town the early part of '82. As we were leaving we walked behind the venue were the trucks were being loaded with equipment. Also there was a white limo parked there. I told the folks I was with that I was going to meet Dan. To make a very long story short, I finally saw Dan walking toward the exit. He stopped and was talking to a couple, I went over and stood beside him for a bit not knowing exactly what to do! I then tugged on his denim jacket...
he turned around and I stuck out my hand and told him my name. He shook my hand and smiled. I then told him some things that I had been wanting to say to him...like how he was able to put 'my feelings' into words. He said that he got that from his mama. I told him that he had a gift. He smiled and told me
thanks. Sometime in our conversation he did a little boot shuffle dance for me! Right now, I can't remember what we were saying that made him go into a little dance but it was special!
After awhile the realization that I was talking to Dan kicked in and I kinda just gazed at him! He told me that it was nice to
meet me, shook my hand again (I think that I was too much in a daze to get a hug from him!) and I turned around and left. A little while after I had walked outside he came and got into his limo and drove off.
It was something that I never thought that would happen to me and I do have to say that Dan was a perfect gentleman, very friendly and personable, not distant like I've read at times. Meeting Dan is something that I hold dear, even more so that he is no longer with us...
OMG! I am soooo envious! How I would have loved to meet Dan! I have also read that he could be distant, maybe he was just tired! He never struck me as someone who would do that to a fan. Treasure your memories of that meeting!
Thank you for these videos of Dan that you have been so kind to share with us. I am especially enjoying these videos from the concerts in '82 as that is the year that I met Dan.
