when im recording my voice in audacity with blue snowball, my voice is so low that i can barely hear it. but when im on skype, it is good... why cant i record good sound with fraps, audacity and many other recording programs??? please help me!
hey! i just got this, and when i am trying to record my sound in audacity or anything exept skype my voice is lower than my inbuilt mic to my computer. what is wrong??? it is so low that it is hard to hear what im saying...
@DouiBoii Yes it would work for what you're doing. It does save you some money on having to get a AD/DA convertor [ audio interface ]. For what most people do now a days this will work perfectly. I would look into the Yetti if you can afford it.
me and my band have faced alot of difficulty with garage band and have been forced to use only a camera placed outside of a closed door in order to record our music which includes bass, drums, and guitar, with the singer standing outside the door with the camera, my question is, given this scenario, is this mic a good choice for us? and can we record our instruments first and our vocals after? i know nothing of this and help would be greatly appreciated
I recorded my six-song EP entirely with a Blue Snowball USB microphone (all vocals, guitars and bass). If you want to listen, just follow the links to my website.
@rayright15 i got something like that but i found i had the wrong setting on. it was on 1 and i needed it to b on 3 cause it picks up all the background stuff otherwise. i've also tried to record in a very quiet room which helps. but the setting is prolly most important, it will pick up a lot i find. i heard a friend who was whispering on his phone from the other side of teh basement while recording when u turned the volume all the way up. his mom was yelling at him for stealing cake lol
i have a pro with my mic ... when i sing into the mic .. i sound good .. but when i play my recording .. it makes my vocals off beat ..so can anybody tell me or help me ....asap plz

@thekingproductions1 to avoid the latency issues of usb microphones, unfortunately, you can only do so by buying a digital audio interface and a professional microphone. expect to pay more than 300 all together if you want decent quality recording.
Quick Question..... in your opinion, which of the three recording choices is best for recording acoustic guitar and where is the best place to aim the mic? Close to the guitar at the soundhole, far away from the guitar, etc.... Thanks so much :)
@bad0526 yo i jus say a video on youtube "twilight galaxy acoustic - metric " and they used 3 of these snowballs, two for vocals and one for guitar check it out !
Where did you get the pop filter? I assumed I'd have to make one because this mic is just dimensionally unique, and I wasn't sure a regular arm for a regular pop filter wouldn't work well without some modification. Thanks!
Sorry but I find the snowball to be a horrible mic and not worth spending the money on. This mic goes for $80. If you want a USB mic save your money and get Blue Microphone's Yeti at $150.
If you want to get quality recordings of vocals or instruments the entry point in the Blue product line is really the Blue Spark ($199) and my personal favorite Blue low-end product is the Blueblrd ($299). Low-end is a relative term because $199-299 isn't cheap, but Blue is known for the $6,000 Bottle mic.
is there an adapter that can be used to hook up this USB mic as a studio-style mic? for example, can you hook this USB mic to an amp or any audio device using an adapter? (if it exists lol)
Hi, thanks for the awesome review. i just got a bluemic snowball, but i tried it, and it doesnt sound like me at all when i try to do covers, i dont hav a ringer or a pop filter, so does it change anything if i get those?
How does this meet up compared to an XLR soundcard? Im trying to get simple homestudio going on a very low student budget but i dont want to settle for cheap low quality stuff.
So I have the same microphone (which I love!) but I want to do what you're doing and record with a camera and the microphone at the same time with the quality how do i go about doing that? This would be so helpful since I record songs and whatnot on my channel. =] ♡Daniela♪♫
@yellowgirl05 haha still trying to get an answer on this haha. i just recently asked another friend of mine who is good with the tech stuff so if i find out..i will pass it on to you! haha
Some computers, I believe older ones or computers that run on XP have sound recorders that record for 60 seconds, but with Audacity you can record as long as you want.
do you know if the usb snowball is compatible with simple laptops? i purchased mine in 2006 and i usually use my videos on movie maker. please help! lol
I read all these great reviews of the Snowball online, but then when I hear a sample recording it just sounds really crappy to me. What are these people smoking?
There isn't a pop shield built in. That screen (which is on virtually all microphones) is strictly there to prevent objects and other particulates from getting to the sensitive components of the mic capsules / diaphragm.
A pop screen should be a few inches away from the mic to disperse the air puffs which prevent the plosives (pops) from reaching the mic surface causing distortion.
It's more convenient for me to do desktop recording so this mic appeals to me. It really seems like quite the Jesus Mic.
There aren't any bad reviews at all, other than the people who are holding it very close to their mouths which is just silly. I saw someone use it for a guitar amp and it sounded like a direct input! xD I'm babbling now, thank you for the help. Check out my videos. :D
You don't need to test it out, if it sounds good with speech it'll sound good with screaming. With any mic you're gonna have to stand back a bit, hah. So i'm sure it'll sound great with screaming. I mean there are so many amazing reviews, i think it's worth the minimal risk! Buy it! xD
hey sweet review. just wondering if u have had the chance to use the new blue yeti usb mic. im trying to record vocals over instrumentals but im on a low budget.
It depends on which setting you use. Setting 1 and 3 (the Omni settings) it can pick up background noises. In the cardioid setting it is very good at limiting anything outside of the line of sight of the front input with a moderately compressed feeling.
FYI
Setting 1 = For single user voice/instrument recording
Setting 2 = For extra loud voices/instruments that may cause distortion and for noiseless vocal recording (podcasts etc.)

It's all about learning HOW to use it properly, and creating the correct environment for your needed recording style / type.
I have been a recording artist for 13 years, worked in high budget studios, and released multiple sold out albums and signed with multiple record companies. I can honestly say this mic is among my favorites.
On further digging, I must admit, I do hear a kind of clicking sound occasionally. I went back and listened to the original video, and it does not have that audio anomaly. My guess is that something in the compression to YouTube seems to have added that sound.
why would u need it high to record after u record most mixers have an option to change it doesnt change the sound at all js

Setting 3 = For group of voices or instruments

Only thing I hear is the fan hum of 4 computers / servers running in the background. The mic is actually seems very good at getting out most of that.
As far as static/hissing, maybe you should consider checking your system, output levels, speakers, or whatever you are using. I don't hear it!
