  • WHATS THE NAME OF THE SONG!!!!!!!!

  • That looks like it was made from Sim City.

  • I'm Hungarian and would have preferred Chuck Norris :) That was a comittee deciding in the end, not "the Hungarians"...

  • haha, glennrr, I love your heading. and it's true, we know who that bridge really belongs to.

  • indeed, that is a fucking bridge

  • is that sim city?

  • btw what is the name of this song?

  • well i just spent the last 30 mins or so reading the argument between the 2 countries and u both make good points but i recomend the hungarians do alil more reseach befor getting all bent out of shape and say thing that are incorect.srry if their tyopes i no u guys hate it but im a 14yr kid so i hav an exuce.jk dont bust my balls for that

  • Well if your country is small and insignificant, that's your problem. My Hungary is neither of those, and I'm sure it doesn't need a Colbert bridge (still, I admit he's pretty good).

  • That bridge is beautiful. In a manly way.

They should build a statue of colberts son (bald eagle variety) as a symbol.

  • The bridge didnt get named after him :(?

  • now that's a fuckin bridge

  • tell me when im in!

  • Im goin to Hungary to cross this bad boy.

  • deffnaitly me too some day....

  • what is the music on this video? where did you get this video from?

  • I got this video off the m0hid site when it was active. It was hard to find, and i though Colbert fans would be interested to see it.

I do not know what the music is.

  • Did Stephen Colbert really win the vote?

  • Yes.

  • yeah he won, by alot, more people voted for him than lived in the country of hungary.

  • The bridge is located at 47 degrees N and 19 degrees E. I found the location on Google Earth. :)

  • Anyone know what music accompanies this video? Cool...

  • Ron Paul/Stephen Colbert 2008

  • they'll never know what they missed.

  • whoever posts above me... suck a bag of dicks

  • You all think Hungarians are dumb? Remember they have Nikola Tesla.

  • Who lived in America.

  • (Tesla did)

  • but he lived in hungary until age 17. His parents were also hungarian.

  • His parents ehnicity was serbian. He worked in Budapest for 2 years or something. But yeah he was born in the Kingdom of Hungary which was a part of the Austrian Empire.

  • yeah you are right he was born into Austria-Hungarian Empire. Good call.

  • Nikola Tesla was Serbian

  • Im just wondering but... if the hungarians are pissed off at this video, why was Stephen Colbert on the list of people to vote for?

  • There were two rounds of voting.

The first round was open and any name could be submitted.

Colbert made it to the second round because he had the most votes (made by us Americans)

  • Arguing over countries when obviously know one is going to change their mind about their own. Going know where fast.

  • What a beautiful structure. God Bless Stephen Colbert for building the primitive Hungarians their first bridge! They must be truly greatful.

  • Yes,at last!!! Our first bridge is completed!

    :)

  • simcity?

  • AND Charles Simonyi (the guy in the space) is Hungarian, and he made the Excel and the part of the Word.

  • -Richárd Zsigmondy(1925)

    -György Hevesy(1943)

    -János Polányi(1986)

    -György Oláh(1994)

    -Ferenc Herskó(2004)

    -Elie Wiesel(1986)

    -Imre Kertész(2002)

    -Milton Friedman(1976)

    -János Harsányi(1994)

I don't think that any of you can say what is the second biggest city in Hungary, or where is Győr. Who was the 3. king of Hungary? How many countys had Hungary? What is the value of the biggest hungarian paper money? Where is Hungary exactly? I'm waiting only for american replys.

  • I hate to say it, but by your comments, you are the idiot.

Colbert is a genius. If you have watched his show closely you would notice. His show is done 100% in a persona. He is sarcastic the entire show, which makes his point very strong; he makes his point through saying the opposite. As for your questions, I bet he could answer all of them. He knows quite a lot.

  • Im not idiot. Im hungarian, and Im proud of it. I saw some of his "show", and I think his humour is very bad. But Im talking about the americans in general. You are a typical american, who thinks, that USA is the centre of the world, but think about, if Columbus does not finds America in 1492, you wont talk here now. If you really want to get a bridge named Colbert bridge in Hungary, why dont we have a Fábry híd in the USA?

  • Well, since it is Colbert Híd. I really think it should be Fábry Bridge. :-D Seriously though, you need to open your mind when watching his show. He is very witty in his humor. It is not something everyone likes, but I think if you really give it a chance, you'll find it is quite funny

  • Search youtube for Stephen Colbert at the White House Correspondents Dinner. He went right up to the president and insulted him sarcastically, in persona. You could just see Bush get pissed. It takes a man with guts and brain to do that. America is not perfect, nothing is, but it seams like you are pretty narrow minded as well but thinking that all Americans think only about how great we are. I doubt you could answer some questions about the US as well. I think I'll post some...

  • What is the second biggest city in the US. Where is Holywood? Who was the 18th president of the US? What is the capital of Idaho? What denominations of bills do we have? How many states do we have? In what state is our capital? How many branches of government do we have? How many years is term for the president? How many terms can he be ellected for? What is the largest state, and what is the southern-most, and northern-most sates?

  • How do you spell 'elected'?

  • Yes, I know I made a typo. It happens to all of us.

  • I'm not the one who supposed to answer this but I'm hungarian too so L.A. There are a lot of Hollywod named towns in the US probably you are thinking of Hollywood CA, Ulysess Grant Boise, 1,2,5,10,20,50,100 dollar bills, 50 states, Washington DC is fedaeral district, The barches are legislative, executive, judilical. For four years, 2 tearms it means one reelectoin whit a maxumium 10 years.

  • Good job, klodvig. You even caught the Hollywood trick. Only one math problem (4x2=10?????).

I just ask everyone to please run a spell check. It isn't that hard! If you download Firefox it will even underline wrong words as you type it!

  • Yeah! Sorry for the spelling but I am a bit dyslexic and rarely useing my english writeing skills. But this time I don't have a math problem: Accoarding to the XXII amendment:

  • "No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice, and no person who has held the office of President, or acted as President, for more than two years of a term to which some other person was elected President shall be elected to the office of the President more than once."

  • This means that if the president can't fill out his term like Nixon or Kennedy. Their vice president can't run for a reelection if they hold their preceders office for more than 2 years whitout an election.

  • So if some accident would have happend to president Bush after 2007 january Cheney would have the chance to be president for 10 years which is not a very likey scenario....

  • Not at all. :-D

Now, if only our good friend Stephen would run...

  • wow, I hate to answer a 3 month old post, but klodvig was right, glennrr. the constitution allows a president to stay in office for up to 10 years. if bush would resign now, dick cheney would replace him. dick could run again in 2008 and AGAIN in 2012(!). re-elected both times, he would spend more time in office than any president (except for FDR, who was elected for 4 consecutive terms). ask your teacher! course no one would vote for cheney... so there. i am also Hungarian.

  • The largest state is Alaska. The most southern is Florida and the most northern is Alaska or Main if we ar talkin about the mainland.

  • I'm not trying to be a smartass but that andam guy had a point, but failed to express it in a good way. I think it is sad that a at least 60 percent of americans who can vote are not abel to show it on the map which country they are currently at war. Bat adam also failes the understad the sacastic humor of Colbert btw Colbert is a much more better comedian than Fábry.

  • @glennrr

Ok I know this is an ancient post, but you really believe an average Hungarian would have no clue about those?. Let me see Hollywood is in LA, California, Souther most point is key west, Florida, north is Alaska, president's term if for 4 years, can be reelected once. Washington DC is your capital DC means District of Columbia. I guess California is the biggest state population wise, you have quarters (25Cents) dimes(10cents) 5cent, 1 cent coins 1,5,10,20,100 bills...etc

  • @glennrr

Others answered too I see, really only thing I wanted to put out there is that please don't look at people in other or smaller countries like they are some barbarian tribe. I am a Hungarian and I probably live in a bigger city then 80% of the US population, I also watch your shows, I basically have access to the same sources of information as you do it's not like we have no idea about what's going on in the US.

  • @mourantell

hey, man has it been a long time since I thought about this video.

While I am sure you will find some Americans who do legitimately believe no one outside of America knows anything about us, and find others that believe the whole world revolves around the US, I am not one of them.

What I said before was a joke, probably a little in bad taste.

I have actually worked with several Hungarians at a summer camp, and they were all pleasant, knowledgeable people.

  • adam, do you not understand that Colbert is playing a role and mocking the idea that too many Americans think that America is the center of the world? It is IRONY. I am disappointed that you see his show as a bad thing instead of a good thing. He is making fun of closed minds--we are supposed to laugh AT him because he is so ignorant but thinks he knows EVERYTHING.

  • Colombus wasn't truthfully the first person to discover America. HOWEVER, if we lived in a world where Europeans never came over and populated the US, then we would be a savage native american country -_-

  • "Idiot" and "Hungarian" are not mutually exclusive categories. Just as you are proud to be Hungarian, we are proud to be American, so if you're going to insult us, at least do it right. For example, you point out that Hungary has a bunch of Nobel laureats. Well, the U.S. has ten times that many. Not exactly supportive of your argument.

  • So, there are ten times mny american Nobel winners, but there is only 10.000.000 Hungarians and 300.000.000 americans. This is 30 times more, but ther is no 30 times more Nobel winners... Should I say anything more?

  • Also you have to remember too that some richer western countries, steal the best publicly educated people from other countries, and hey presto they are Western when they accept the prizes, even if they still have accents from elsewhere, don't forget the stealing of the educated from poorer countries

  • Yeah but 30 times bigger population. But I dont think the number of Nobel price winners is the best measureing tool of..... I don' t really know wat are you guys would like to measure.

  • Colbert is a d*ckhead! I know almost all americans are stupid, but he is more than stupid. I would like to live in Hungary (I'm living there) more than the USA. What is from the USA: -Chewing gum -Coca cola What is from Hungary: -computer -match -ballpen Hungarian Nobel prizes: -Róbert Bárány(1914) -Albert Szent-Györgyi(1937) -György Békési(1961) -Daniel Carleton Gajdusek(1976) -Fülöp Lénárd(1905) -Jenő Wigner(1963) -Dénes Gábor(1971)
  • Do you think all we Americans are good for are making snack items that start with 'C'? Besides, Stephen Colbert is an outgoing, funny, controversy-starting, bear-fearing motivation to people around the world(specifically American Republicans)

  • holy crap i never would've thought that anyone couldn't understand the comedy of Colbert. He acts stupid as a parallel figure to criticize the republican party...dumbass. Yeah, we really believe hormones in milk is good and bears are the number one crisis in America.

  • You silly Hungarians and your silly ballpens (they're called ball-point pens). Get familiar with American politics and the concepts of "Satire" and "irony" first before throwing knives. Yes, that was a metaphor.

  • Ha all you trying to claim greatness and you forget Canada. Canada is great for a lot of reasons, but the best one of all is that its really big, its not what you do with it, its the size that counts, ask your girlfriends.

  • Adam, this is just a joke. You're a hungarian, that's why you don't understand Colbert. But what did yo want with these hungarian things? You should think before act. (I'm a hungarian too, and, sorry, i really don't understand you...)

  • Wow, you're a smart*ss! America's full of stupid people, and of all the people you could critisize, you managed to pick out one of the smart people, d*ckhead!

Great job! Your stupidity just nullified the 7 Nobel prises and three inventions...

(of which none by the way were invented in Hungary, merely modified/perfected there(Check your FACTS!!!) )

  • all Americans are stupid and you're the smart one with that list????? oh and congratulations on the ballpen X)

  • Hey, we aren't too stupid. That bridge looks exactly like the Ravenel Bridge in Charleston, SC. Hmm. Where did they get the idea for that from.

  • That looks like it was made from Sim City.

  • Thats definately the Stephen Colbert Bridge, and thats the truth, because thats what my gut tells me.

  • Truthier words have never been spoken :)

  • Truthieness

  • thats "truthiness"

  • Oh, whatever. We all make typos. Just scroll down through the comments!

  • I VOTED FOR HIM, AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN.

STEPHEN COLBERT IS JESUS'S FAVORITE PERSON.

I can't prove it, but I can say it.

  • i actually voted for him!!

  • this nigga's ice cream is thhe shiiiit

  • did they acaulyl end up namign it after him i thoguth they were namin it after soem war hero in hungrey?

  • I am so going to Hungary now just to go over this bridge!XD now Hungary has a new tourist atraction!

  • Sorry! But the bridge is under construction, so you can't go over it, maybe next year!

  • If yo tak a kayak you can go under the bridge. I did that :-)

  • Ron Paul / Stephen Colbert 2008

  • glennrr.Accurately?

  • Looks like a pretty nice bridge.

  • Do you know, where is this bridge?

  • It is in Hungary.

  • It is the Danube.

  • im confused, whats the story behind this?, is that even a real bridge? and is it really named after colbert?

  • I found this video on the site that was doing the naming poll for the bridge.

It is real, and it is named after Colbert.

  • Its actually named the Megyeri Bridge. Hungarians were never going to name a bridge after Stephen Colbert, you can't put a pricetag on dignity.

  • hello... open voting and they weren't planning on naming it what got the most votes... what is the fucking point of open voting then??? doesn't make any fucking sense to me.

  • I think they stopped considering the open poll as a possibility when it stopped being about actual Hungarian figures and started being about late night American cable personalities.

  • I makes some sence it was only about advocation. The governement had not take this voting too serious, (it wasn't limited how many times did you vot and etc.) and that's why a part of the hungarian internet useing subculture's sarcastic reaction was to heck the server and make a voting machine and make Chuck Norris number 1.

  • And whwn Cuck become number 1 for a couple of weeks it mde some news and Colbert probably heard of this that is how the stor begines.

  • This damn near hypnotized me. I clicked the link and this electro-new-age-floydish stuff starts crawling out of my speakers while riverscapes appear all fuzzy and nice with a bridge phazing in and out. All I needed was some lasers and it would have been a Friday night in the late eighties at the Laser Floyd show at the Science Center...

  • WTF. Those pictures and videos look WAY better WITHOUT that fucking bridge. And what's with the Pink Floydian triangles theme?

  • shit...i wish i had a bridge....

  • The music reminds me of "The Big Blue" by Luc Besson - the most wonderful movie about the sea.

  • From the clips Stephen showed on his show from some of their shows, they seem thrilled. It is giving the country a lot of attention.

Anyway, the ambassador to Hungry showed up and presented him with an award for wining.

  • Kind of sad when you think about it. What are the people in Hungary going to think?

  • I'm really proud of myself, because he could win, and I also voted for him:) I hope so Mr. Colbert'll come here and see the bridge.

  • i'm glad he won but it sucks that they didn't name the bridge after him.

  • I feel the same:S But maybe, after his death, they'll rename it after Mr. Colber:D

  • Yay colbert won. It just goes to show we still find ways to steal and fraud votes. Bush, case and point.

  • Great music. Sounds like a soft porn video. It looks like that new beidge in Boston.

  • Lol, I honestly think that the Hungarian government will not honor the vote if Stephen wins and will choose the runner-up name, as long as it's not Chuck Norris.

  • They didn't say the winner will be the name. It's just a way to recommend names. You can read the rule, but just in Hungarian.

  • Hi everybody! I hope i will win this vote!!! :)))

This Bridge will be ZRINYI MIKLOS BRIDGE, named from my great-great-grandfather's great-great-grandpa!!! Stephen Colbert should go to US President, he would be at least funny president like Bush :)))

  • Well, if the whole US wants it to be named after Colbert, Colbert bridge it should be...

If that happens, perhaps my beloved country's minister of transportation, a certain Mr Janos Koka, who invented this voting where any silly idea counts and mass voting is apparently not problem, should perhaps resign. If that happens, this joke will have actually served a noble cause.

  • the first shots remind me of simcity. looks like they didn't start developing their land yet! :)

  • The number of votes for Colbert has officially passed the entire population of Hungary.

  • I don't know whats going on with the vote site, but all the counts started over and stephen is in first.

Download the app at the second link in the description

it is works better that the old link above it, it sends votes.

    A lot of votes.

the site also seams to be faster now.

seems like it is on a new server.

  • lol wtf u dont have to have programing skills ot be a nerd. jus loosen up a lil bit zzyw its just a joke so no worries

  • Washington bridge after Zsazsa Gabor, or Bela Lugosi... Or to be fair after Geza Hofi, or just Mr Rubik??

  • Zzyw has a lot of nerd rage.

  • Well I don't have any programming skills so I'm not a nerd. And I love the Colbert report, it's just that the joke is getting old, and since the votes don't even count it is useless as well. Only reason to use vote-a-trons and the likes is if you hate Hungarian bridges for some reason.

  • Ok, it seems I'm in error. The vote count remained on 400,000 something for a while and I assumed they stopped regestering. Seems they still do. So, I'm flip-flopping! Vote vote vote vote vote vote vote! You can make a difference!

  • Votes for Stephen Colbert hid don't register anymore. But feel free to continue to cause bandwidth problems for a random Hungarian site if it gets you off. You are aware that Stephen Colbert plays a role, right? The role of a pompous self-obsessed right wing asshole, that is. You might as well vote for the Bill O'Reilly hid while you're at it.

  • But you see, Colbert does it with style!

  • Or you could just vote for Chuck Norris. ::cheeky grin:: But, I voted for Stephen, because it made for a funny joke.

  • hes making fun of bill oreilly you tool

  • its older then hell now...but just go and cry lil one

  • Soo.. how does it exactly works? It sends votes?
