God, we need to get some golden-age Superman action going. These guys are way too powerful and destructive to be interesting. Golden age guy didn't defend the LAW. A strong enough explosive could still hurt the guy, and he knew he couldn't defeat an army. He wasn't a sappy demigod, he was a hero.

NOTE: And surviving a blackhole? That's incredibly bad taste. Nothing and no one has business even implying they can do anything more than die against one. On the cosmic scale, these boys are nothing.
And then there's the issues with physics. Catching various objects in a small 'humanoid' as they travel at great speeds. He'd tear them apart long before catching anything more than entrails.
@BigVEE Ye know what would be great? Golden Age-type Superman reboot. THAT version of Superman was incredibly different. Not a lucky solar-powered guy, but an alien who, if you weren't looking closely, appeared human. He wasn't a freakishly powerful demigod too stupid to utilize his abilities to rule the world. He was strong, and tough, but though he was bulletproof he wasn't anywhere close to modern Superman's invulnerability. He was just stronger than humans, something he knew and used.
This here is proof that there is no problem with Superman's power levels. The problem is he doesn't have enough villains that can go toe to toe with him.
Hey..... Where's the rest of the fight? Immediately when this video ends, we see Darkseid isn't hurt at all and gets up and beats Superman within seconds! Why was this not shown?

Naive, unable to truly utilize his gifts *wasteful*, incredibly inconsistent power throughout the years *made up powers and feats that simply infuriate with their stupidity*, 'boy scout' attitude, etc. THIS is the 'ideal' American hero? Some rediculous alien that looks like us, but gets an array of freakish powers from a specific star type? Not my thing. Goku is perhaps worse...

@BigVEE What I like about Superman is his heroic restraint--the very opposite of Lord Acton's" power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely ". It's this lack of personal corruption which makes him seem naive which he is'nt. Afterall,Clark clearly has Lex Luthor's number. He understands evil,but is untouched by it. He"s a man who clearly could rule the world--Justice League notwithstanding,but chooses to serve those weaker than himself --A nobel hero.

He's a grand fool among fools. It's just a wonder if Green Lantern can match him. Their power is wasted on them. This choice of his allows suffering of innocents.
The held back 'reserves' are litlle more than a power-up for a hero without brains to beat those he has no business facing off against. Any real foe could murder this 'man of steel'. Especially with the numerous weaknesses the boy has. He survives on main character status.

There is nothing noble about a man so stupid as he. Too dim to grasp the 'idea of evil'.
NOTE: And surviving a blackhole? That's incredibly bad taste. Nothing and no one has business even implying they can do anything more than die against one. On the cosmic scale, these boys are nothing.
And then there's the issues with physics. Catching various objects in a small 'humanoid' as they travel at great speeds. He'd tear them apart long before catching anything more than entrails.

@BigVEE Ye know what would be great? Golden Age-type Superman reboot. THAT version of Superman was incredibly different. Not a lucky solar-powered guy, but an alien who, if you weren't looking closely, appeared human. He wasn't a freakishly powerful demigod too stupid to utilize his abilities to rule the world. He was strong, and tough, but though he was bulletproof he wasn't anywhere close to modern Superman's invulnerability. He was just stronger than humans, something he knew and used.

Everyone is always bitchign about how superman cant lose due to DC. blah blah blah. Hands down, he kicks everyone's ass. And I love it when batman puts his boots and fists to supes face every now and then, but if superman WANTED to.....he would be dead. That is why Darkseid got his ass kicked. even in the old comics when superman was at his strongest, he was always holding back. Piss him off and you will see a Superboy prime power level in superman. Give it a rest.
