I always thought about going over the road, just to say ive done it seem exciting at first but the time away from home just dont add up to the pay. I been drivin 6 years all local and make $850-$1000 week i think i would stay local. Thanks for the vid.

drove a 26ft u haul truck today, it was one huge gas hog. Loved every minute of it. Drove from Burlington to Trenton, spent sometime in the truck gettin used to it. Lot different from the normal 4 wheeler. Gods speed brother. For the moments I was drivin that u haul truck I thought about those of you truckers out there on the road for god knows how long, probably exciting, and stressful at the same time. OTR trucking is for single men and married teams, not for 'married with kids' drivers. There IS the local route for the married ones...home every night, and weekends.

You are right on, I have been married for 10 years and have 2 daughters, I went into dispatch for 6 of those years. The company I worked for went broke. I am ready to hit the highway again. This just might save my marriage, but I will miss seeing my girls daily. Well considering he went from NV to UT to WY to CO and is going to be heading to OR with about 20hrs on his 70... thinking its going to be another LOOONNNGGG week/weekend/week apart! Argggg... My other half has driven 22 years 17 of those with the same company nearing 2 million miles accident free. When they are on the road U want em home. When they are home more than 3 days ya wanna kick em back out on the road! Seriously though the first 2 years are rough as the as the other half, they take things personally when U are on the road & more sensitive & don't understand the trucking BS at times & sometimes U have 2 set phone rules about what to talk about & what 2 not talk about.

The list is long. To name a few:
Visiting family all over the country and getting paid for it.
I am a bit nomadic so, I like not knowing where I am heading next (it keeps things exciting) It gives me the ability to live my life day to day instead of worrying about the same old things.
I do what I want when I want. If I get in to FL and feel like taking a week off to play with the women on the beach I do that. I am basically my own boss!

You are right on, I have been married for 10 years and have 2 daughters, I went into dispatch for 6 of those years. The company I worked for went broke. I am ready to hit the highway again. This just might save my marriage, but I will miss seeing my girls daily. The company I worked for went broke over the summer, so behind the wheel I will go to support my family, Damn economy, lets all hope we saw the worst of it and recovery is coming soon. peace and be safe out there,

Well considering he went from NV to UT to WY to CO and is going to be heading to OR with about 20hrs on his 70... thinking its going to be another LOOONNNGGG week/weekend/week apart! Argggg... My other half has driven 22 years 17 of those with the same company nearing 2 million miles accident free. When they are on the road U want em home. When they are home more than 3 days ya wanna kick em back out on the road! Seriously though the first 2 years are rough as the as the other half, they take things personally when U are on the road & more sensitive & don't understand the trucking BS at times & sometimes U have 2 set phone rules about what to talk about & what 2 not talk about.
