  • i hate glossy screens. fucking hate them. why why why why do people like glossy? it sucks so much. you can't hardly find a fucking matte screen anymore. the world is retarded.

  • $40 wait if Apple would sell the anti glare film ...possibly would cost $100 then

  • this is BS. I'm not getting a new iMac until Apple gives me a matt option.

  • lol the glares even more annoying with this film.

  • lol 1:20 "HDTV" on the sprey...

  • Here's the issue I take with those that think that anti-glare is the way to go. 1. Who's doing critical work with ANY light source directly hitting their screen? 2. Many anti-glare coatings create sparkle fx on white 3. Diffusing a light source makes things look worse, because instead of you looking past the mirror effect, the light source now blends in with your screen colours 4. No one bitched about glass in front of a screen when it was a Sony Trinitron!

  • IT LOOKS WORSE

  • Doesnt lose screen quality?

  • Oooooo! he has an illigal copy of COD!

  • i acctually think its better with out the film!!

  • If you want to make the colors just like they were without the film, go calibrate your monitor in the system preferences PROPERLY. Use advanced settings, and it will have a perfect balance of red green blue *RGB*.

  • Okay $40.00 is Over priced but it it was $19.99 I would Buy it for sure but there's always that chance if you mess up

  • $40 is a fucking rip off.

if you want to remove glare, there's the poorboy method--- Get a grocery bag from the supermarket's veggie/fruit section. sometimes the meat dept has bigger bags. Some markets have no logo on the bags.

cut it to size, and tape over the screen. glare gone.

  • @gofockyourself123 okay wrap a plastic bag around your 2500$ iMac xD

  • 40 bucks for a piece of plastic that doesn't do shit for the glare....nice video...

  • I like it, I can tell people at the coffee to shop to stop watching my porn over my shoulder

  • Comment removed

  • @TheJovanist Yes you are

  • apple is full of shit

  • @nubcakehero Your mom likes dick in her left nostril

  • I used some fine sandpaper on my neighbour's shiny Mac screen. It became beautifully matt and only just a liiiittle fuzzy, but the ungrateful son of a bitch got so mad he lost the power of speech and wants to kill me.

Moral of the story is, Some people really dont know what they want and us good guys pay the price

  • Glossy sux unless you have a really dark room, in smalls words... save yourself those greens

  • it looks worse

  • The iMac has everything I want (currently own a late 2006 24" white one) but I'm not buying a new iMac now. It will be a mini (once it's off the Core 2 Duo) and add a nice looking PC matte monitor. Not ideal, but hey - Apple says people LOVE the gloss.

  • Just remove the glass screen. Use a suction cup or a piece of scotch tape to pry one of the edges of the glass screen lose. The entire glass screen is attached using magnets, so removing it won't cause any damage to your iMac.

  • @DCuerpoJr Are you serious? If I buy a new 27 inch apple cinema display, would I be able to remove the glass surface? Would the display then be a standard matte finish?

  • just sand the screen down with some 220 grit :)

  • i think you are exaggerating it. Your glaring too!.

  • A flat edge is a good idea for the film install so there is less chance of air bubble forming.

  • cool video, neat to see some sort of 3rd party solution to making your iMac matte.

  • Stupid.

  • @psphacker8 It was stupid of Apple to make it a glare display in the first place, this is just to repair a by default defective product.

  • There is a much better video showing how to install the Anti-glare film on RadTechLLC's Youtube page!

  • Wow.. Really? 41 bucks? Thats crazy! 

  • cant it be a debit card ??? :PPP lolz

  • please apple !!!!gives us a imac matte screen option!!!

  • thx for the vid

  • Apple PLEASE!!! Give us a matte display option... You offer it for MacBook Pro, so i desperatly waiting for an iMac option.

  • lol, I love the doom 3 icon on the desktop.... thats one kick ass game! BTW, I wanna get the macbook pro, and am just wondering if it is a universal binary.

  • Photodon saved the day for me. Glare is the scourge of the Universe. What was Apple thinking? "Customers love our glossy screens"? NO they don't. Why no option for a matte screen? Why put us throught the experience of having to stick anti glare sheets and put up with dirt and bubbles and time wasted. Apple, tsk tsk. You are only 95% perfect.

  • I may actually look into this, as (and this may sound funny to some people) I'm actually planning on buying a larger 24" monitor to use as my primary monitor, and the iMac's built-in screen will be my secondary monitor.

  • if you were a professional like myself that is worried about colour correction you would purchase an eizo monitor.

  • I've switched to a Mac and have had my 24" iMac for over a year. I almost never use it because of the glossy screen. I use it for text and it hurts my eyes.

I've purchased the Photodon film and I'm ready to apply it but I'm sure it will end up with some dust bubbles.

Apple, I hate you for this.

  • $40 for antiglare film? Holy shit!

  • @linuxguy2009

    I reckon

  • Good Review ;)

  • I wanted to pay $41.44 cents

  • myne gets no glare

just keep it out of the sun

  • in my opinion it looks worse with that cover on because it makes the glare's blur spread more to make it impossible to see

  • @Raefrules15

    lol

  • cuz apple would bend over backwords to get u to spend as much money on their products as possible... and, ya this dudes an idiot.

  • u could still see glare, why not just change the way u sit or the angle of the screen

  • I like it the way it is, but for those who like it, I say go for it.

  • If its not a touch screen break it!

  • If you take it to the Apple retail store and ask them to simply remove the glass, the glare will be gone.

The glass is simply an overlay over the matte display.

  • No it isn't. The LCD panel itself is glossy.

  • alright, 41 dollars for a thin piece of plastic that probably costs about 8 cents to manufacture! ill take em all!

  • ....this is like those people making their pc's looking like macs. Dude, if you dont like glare, get some curtains, or point the damn lamp to another direction. If you use your mac for anything graphics related, you should not have incandescent lights or direct sun light hitting the screen..

  • thats very true... unfortunately for laptop users we are stuck with the damn glossy display... but in my room i have an imac and I try to keep the room as dark as possible.

  • Move the lamp and enjoy glossy glass screen.

  • haha great advice

  • i love the matte because that way i can touch the screen with out leaving marks

  • I do not like the glare of a glossy screen. But "correcting" the problem is worse than the problem itself, IMHO.

  • Also, is a glossy screen so bad that you're willing to trade that for blurry pixels at slight angles, dust particles trapped between screen and film, and color-shift?

  • "a lot of people don't like the glossy screen". Actually, most people don't even know the difference. It seems like a lot because a few people wont stop whining about it.

  • its looks worse to me with the thing on! lol!

  • You have to choice on the iMac

  • yeah, the glossy is fine for me. and i dont want tit to take away any color from the screen. besides, the imac looks nicest with a glossy screen.

  • for the imac, the glossy is fine for me only because ill never be using it outside.

but for the macbooks and the macbook pros, i rly need the antiglare wen im using it on a sunny day outside.

  • It doesn't really bother me on my MacBook. but you can tell there is glare.

  • well, it doesnt bother me as long as im not outside in the park using it trying to watch a video or type smth.

then, i notice the glare, but i like the sharp colors!^^

  • Same here.

  • i like the glossy !

  • Color professionals will never use the iMac screen, they will use the apple cinema displays.

  • Nonsense. "Colour professionals" should be using a CRT if they really want maximum accuracy.

  • But they don't

  • i like the glossy screen.

  • mehh
