it was the same thing for a unused boss in mother 3, it was intended that lucas was supposed to have some kind of psi trauma from killing his brother and you had fight multiple forms of the boss, the final one looked like a mechanical angel clause but it was too scary. That boss is actualy still in the games code but the boss's have strange names like ionai's table, elevator and even duster.

Speaking of Mother 3-they say they didn't put Giygas in because he'd be\ "too scary" for the younger audience, and yet they have the Reconstructed Caribou and Flint's wife/Lucas and Claus' mother dying. Doesn't make too much sense, does it?
