If you look at 1:21, you can see two estates up the hill. My guess is Lennon may have occupied one of those. Cold Spring Harbor is small. The Hamlet of Laurel Hollow is centered behind them.
At that point in the movie, I'm filming from the Billy Joel park and behind me is a street with shops full of crafts. Off to the right is the famous lab where DNA was researched (and the spot where an Avianca plane crashed a few years back), and a fish hatchery is next to the church you see later on.
I guess about 30 miles East of the city. These pictures were taken within walking distance from the lab. The old church, and a fish hatchery, are properties almost the street from it.

Basically, yes. The church you see at 2:16 with the lake behind it, is right next to the Fish Hatchery.

I visited Cold Spring Harbor last week because I wanted to find John Lennon's house. I could not.
Is Cold Spring Harbor a small place? It seems a small place.
