This interview is excellent. I admire him and will always respect him for his honesty. @bigguy300golf You're taking the verse out of the context of its time period. In that era, slavery was not as Americans speak of slavery, per se. It was a common condition wherein there were highly educated slaves as well as those who performed menial work. Many people were quite happy to live as slaves in that time; again - it was not the excruciating, dehumanizing institution seen here in the U.S. - for the most part.

The Bible clearly approves of slavery by its omission of denouncing it, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

There is no confusion on this subject. The word of God is very clear on where he stands on every area of our lives including our sextuality. what i dont understand is how teaching about a loving, forgiving god is heresy, but teaching about a god who has the heart to send BILLIONS of people to hell for all ETERNITY for sinning within their short lifespan is good. people who oppose pearson just make me think more and more that Christianity is evil and arrogant. sry for offending some people, but how can a god be infinitely loving AND horrendously wrathful at the same time?

Are you married? Would you let your girlfriend/boyfriend or husband/wife treat you anyway they want? Of course not. There are rules in relationships and when someone breaks those rules, no matter how much you love them, you have to judge the consequences of their actions; just like God does with us.
Even nature follows rules set in motion by God. Satan and his demons follow rules too. When Jesus cast out demons, they didn't remain and refuse to be judged.
You are looking at the concept of Hell and taking it personally. God told Noah to build an ark because the world was doomed. Was the world doomed because God was having a temper tantrum? No, mankind was in outright rebellion and no longer cared or were concerned about his Creator. Noah still warned people; no one listened. God told Lot to get out of Sodom and Gamorrah; same thing. Lot warned people and no one listened.
You tell your kids not to cross the street without looking both ways first. If they still insist on running out without looking and get hit by a car, is it still your fault? You can't watch them 24 hours a day.
The book of Revelation is a warning. After reading it, if people still don't repent (as it says in Rev. 9:20-21 and Rev. 16:8-11), who's fault will it be that they go to Hell? Were they not warned? Hell is for Satan and his angels; not for us.
Billions would only go to Hell if they have chosen Hell as their destination. Are you saying they should not have a choice in the matter of their eternal destination? They certainly don't have to go to Hell and if God had His way, they would not go to Hell. That was the purpose of Jesus' death.
But there are some who actually believe that 'it is better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.' Well, it needs to be clear, no one will be ruling in Hell.
I hate to keep touching on this point but if there were no Hell (option), why did the Apostles preach so fervently? Why did they risk their lives (and ultimately lose them) for preaching the Word of God when everyone could ultimately be saved anyway? Why the Great Commision (Matthew 28:19-20)?

Jesus Said that he went to prepare a place for the Saints a place where Christians will live in paradise for ever. Now, IS homosexuality right or wrong? There are those that say "Jesus never said a word about people's sexual preferences". Well, Jesus also never said not to have sex with a goat either but that goes without saying, right? There are several scriptures in both New and Old Testament that discuss homosexuality and in EVERY case, it is condemned. As a matter of fact, it is never mentioned without a condemnation of some kind with it.
It would be better for him to simply walk away from Christianity and start his own faith that fits how he feels rather than trying to change the Christian faith to fit how he feels.
The Word of God is the Word of God whether we like it or not. "ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God", Romans 3:23. We are all on a journey to transform our lives to be what Jesus wants us to be; not what feels good to us. The wrath of God is coming; accept the love He gave (in Jesus), period.

It was a common condition wherein there were highly educated slaves as well as those who performed menial work. Many people were quite happy to live as slaves in that time; again - it was not the excruciating, dehumanizing institution seen here in the U.S. - for the most part.

The Bible clearly approves of slavery by its omission of denouncing it, and it goes so far as to tell how to obtain slaves, how hard you can beat them, and when you can have sex with the female slaves.

So I guess our ancestors who fought against this institution (vs. fighting to reforming it so it was in alignment w/ "what the Bible teaches) had "scales over" their eyes as well!

There are rules in relationships and when someone breaks those rules, no matter how much you love them, you have to judge the consequences of their actions; just like God does with us.

You are looking at the concept of Hell and taking it personally. God told Noah to build an ark because the world was doomed. Was the world doomed because God was having a temper tantrum? No, mankind was in outright rebellion and no longer cared or were concerned about his Creator. Noah still warned people; no one listened. God told Lot to get out of Sodom and Gamorrah; same thing. Lot warned people and no one listened.

The book of Revelation is a warning. After reading it, if people still don't repent (as it says in Rev. 9:20-21 and Rev. 16:8-11), who's fault will it be that they go to Hell? Were they not warned? Hell is for Satan and his angels; not for us.

Billions would only go to Hell if they have chosen Hell as their destination. Are you saying they should not have a choice in the matter of their eternal destination? They certainly don't have to go to Hell and if God had His way, they would not go to Hell. That was the purpose of Jesus' death.
But there are some who actually believe that 'it is better to rule in Hell than to serve in Heaven.' Well, it needs to be clear, no one will be ruling in Hell.

Can anyone show me a scripture that tells us that homosexuality is okay? So if every scripture mentioning homosexuality is condemning of it and there are no scriptures that show it in a positive light, what are Bible reading Christians suppossed to believe....even Bishop Carlton at one point in time.

I have heard this rebuttal before by liberal and even non-Biblical folks....that the Bible's condemnation of the act of homosexuality didn't include two consenting same gender individuals. When we look at Romans 1, we see nothing but consenting adults given to "unnatural" relations with one another.
My point is still the same; every case mentioned in New and Old Testament condemns homosexuality.

If there is none, then to find one is to stretch a point past the envelope, take something out of context or to argue from silence and try to read between the lines.
Honestly, with that type of reasoning, you can justify any sin ever listed in the Bible. For instance, the Bible condemns mediums, use of magic, etc.

I too think we can do a lot here on Earth with our God given talents. I don't believe that is the fulfillment of our life, though. There were too many first century Christians....

@blakdak individuals in high ranking positions to BUY little BOYS BEFORE they reached puberty... castrate them and put them into WOMENS clothing.. These boys were then brought into the house WITH the other wiveS.. It was deemed abominable (or in this text UNSANITARY) because the boys had no way of cleaning themselves and the men were uncircumcised.. They would sleep with the boys and then go into their women (wives lol).. and the wives would get sick.. This had become common even to some of

@blakdak convictions and what is required for you to maximize this divinely HUMAN experience.. Some stuff just isn't productive.. but what works for you're life. heart .. productivity,and relationship to God is personal.. Don't let these "ignant" church folk tell you otherwise. There're are about 3 to 4 different hells that are mentioned when it comes to scripture.. MOST CHURCH FOLK don't even know which hell they're referring to. It's all on the strength of your communication with GOD!! blessed

@brondo1012 There were too many first century Christians and later martyrs who never got a chance to live up to their full, human potential in this "divinely human experience". They were killed for the kingdom. Were their lives fulfilled? In God's eyes, His kingdom comes first, so yes. In our eyes we would say 'no'. We don't see like God nor can we see all that He can see. So when He speaks, we can either listen to our Creator or still find a way to get what "we" want out of the deal.

@brondo1012 LOL!!! I don't let "ignant" church folk tell me what to believe. I study very often. I study the Bible and Biblical references and I also study anti-Biblical references. Some people want to have the God of the old days have a long beard and wearing a tunik. These days they want him to have a 'fro-hawk' and 'skinny jeans'. To an Eternal God, changing doesn't happen. He already exist in all times. It is 'we' who have to change or it is 'we' who are chosing to be lost.

@blakdak It is not found in scripture that homosexuality is right in God's word. Romans 1:25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature (Satan) more than the Creator (God), who is blessed for ever. Amen.

Now, IS homosexuality right or wrong? There are those that say "Jesus never said a word about people's sexual preferences". Well, Jesus also never said not to have sex with a goat either but that goes without saying, right? There are several scriptures in both New and Old Testament that discuss homosexuality and in EVERY case, it is condemned. As a matter of fact, it is never mentioned without a condemnation of some kind with it.

It would be better for him to simply walk away from Christianity and start his own faith that fits how he feels rather than trying to change the Christian faith to fit how he feels.
The Word of God is the Word of God whether we like it or not. "ALL have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God", Romans 3:23. We are all on a journey to transform our lives to be what Jesus wants us to be; not what feels good to us. The wrath of God is coming; accept the love He gave (in Jesus), period.
