  • What's obviously didn't change is that cars still jump out of their slots

  • Yes this track is in the West oaks Mall on the Alamo Draft house side..Its one of the Fastest tracks in the World with the Owner PA Watson being Multiple National and World Champion..

  • The man at 0:08 was like: trolololol

  • was sind das für autos?wer hat so eine bahn in österreich?

  • what did just happened? :O

  • Holy... That's high speed racing!

  • what exactly do the drivers control? can you actually turn the cars or do they ride on a groove cut in the track? is this by the alamo draft house, i wanna come watch this.

  • @c0uchsl0uch - There is a trigger for speed and braking. Steering is provided by the slot in the track (hence the name "slot cars"). Think Scalextric on steroids.

  • my last car was a wing car with a group 7 motor, killed the track batteries al the time.

  • Slot car racing was my life in the 60's . Glad to see That it's still alive. Ty!

  • fast

  • I did this back in the late 60's and had fast cars and won races all the time. but these speeds are insane!

  • how fast are they going? 100km/h?

  • around 160 km/h =)

  • P048F048M24AL

  • Call me crazy but I dont understand racing that scale. They go so freaking fast you cant even see them heh.

  • I just built me a wing car with a Falcon motor. They race them At Rt93 race ways in Akron Ohio.

I can't wait to tear up the track next tuesday!

  • Omg, is that Tony from TNT marshalling inside the straight? The magnifying lenses make it look like him.

  • Yeah, thats Tony. I spent way too much of my life at his place back int he day.

  • Yeah, thats Tony.

  • holy shit that's fast

  • Oh man I remember going there!

    It's been like three years

  • Is this on Mason Road?

  • Yes. They have just moved, but just down the road from where they were.

  • Awesome, I live close to here. I might have to check this out!

  • How do u know where your car is?

  • they have a color for each person, like white for person no.1 and red for person no.2

  • I have one of these :)

  • And yes, this is real speed.

  • I remember this place... next to Fuzzy's Pizza xD

    good stuff.

  • the sound is unbelievable!!!

  • incredible !

  • how fast do these cars go ?? (km/h) ?

  • Open cars can hit over 100 mph (160 km/h) in the straights, AA/FC slot dragsters can hit over 130mph (208 km/h) in the traps.

  • Hah! Cool. I was into scratch built racing back in, well probably about 500BC. But we had plywood tracks with copper tape contacts. Big fun racing against different clubs and all that. If I remember, we timed the cars down the main straight, and reckoned they were doing about 40mph at the end. If you kept it wide open right into the banking, and ran the risk of slamming your car into the wall beside someone's pit box that is! X-D

  • OMG Thank you for this video, In the early 90's i was addicted to 1/24 slot car racing, i still have my cars, one has a flexi chassis. There are no tracks around any more, but i would love to revive this in our area.

  • I still have my Defalco controller with an Omni stick on it and a brake controller with bypass. Wish I could sell it!

  • List it on Ebay.... It's still good for most drag racing. Worth about 50 bucks.... jf

  • like flying bettle

  • I miss those days. all our tracks closed down ;-( It looks like a blur by the camera but on the driver lines you can actually keep up with the cars better. I remember some guys used to put their whole bodies into it rocking back in forth with tongue out. The faces some of the guys made was to funny.

  • fast, but they look like little space ships, not cars, no realism- but fast.

  • iiiiiiiiiiiuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiuiuiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiuiuiuiuiuuuuuuuuuuuuuuiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • 9 sec? Could you spare it?

  • It is a bit short but the camera I shot it on was an older Cannon digital that only shot movies in 10 sec. bursts. Sort of the Model T of still and movie combo cameras.... jf

  • jajaaja

  • They use to have one of those in Austin Texas when I was a kid but don't think its there any more :/

  • The track that was most recently in Austin was sold to a man in Laredo. It is now for sale also. Some people think it would be fun to run a raceway, but as with all businesses, it is hard work.... jf

  • not 'only in texas' actually. :)

yes they do appear to be 'wing' cars. anyone who says slot cars are for kids is a wuss!

  • only in texas....

  • lol, should toss a penny on the track. have someone just stop XD

  • Unless you want to replace a $400 motor, I'd suggest against it. . . .

  • wow thats cool i take it you race wing bodies? check out my videos.

  • Too Fast ! You can't even see the cars, how can one enjoy taking part in a race when you can't even see the cars pass by ???

I guess this asks the age old question, how fast is fast enough?

  • Notice the people's motion - they aren't moving exaggeratedly fast as they would if the vid were speeded up. Yes, the cars ARE running that fast, and that is only about 1 - 1.5 seconds per lap faster than I remember from the mid 1970's.

  • i nticed that they are moving faster than usual....you can tell when they turn theie heads or something...it looks a little strange...maybe not that much faster but fast enough to make the cars look like thier going faster than normal

  • those cars are covering the laps in less than 6 maybe even less than 5 seconds, don't watch the people who are controlling the cars, their heads and eyes are snapping back and forth so fast that I'm surprised they don't suffer whiplash LOL. Yours would too watching those cars. Look at the movements of the spotters, the guys replacing the cars in the slots - they are quite normal

  • especially look at the way the old guy gets up from a sitting position to go put that car back in the slot, quite normal movement, slow even.

  • Yes they ARE really going that fast, I know from PERSONAL EXPERIENCE! My OMO cars did 1.8-1.9 seconds at Buena Park before they changed the rules cutting down the power (by the way, the world record is 1.404 seconds, also at BP).

  • yeh they are actully i went there the fast as fuck dood

  • I used to enjoy slot cars but they got so expensive to compete at the highest level you could buy a real car for the same money.

  • You should look again towards a Box Stock 12 car.

Very fast and only about $125..... jf

  • As I live in the Uk it would make it a little expensive to travel for race days - no really good tracks here anymore - but thanks for the info.

  • I drive 275 miles one way to race One Motor Opens monthly, 98 miles one way for local and scale races, so it's not as impossible as it seems. . . .

  • That track looks fast!!Does anyone know of any tracks like that near central Fla.??

  • i go there i live near there those go about 108.9 i clock one in at 108.9 mph !!! its awsome i rent one but im getting one and i know the manager hes my frined =D

  • que barbero

  • I love wing cars, they are so fast.

  • I was there..Great race.I just bought one from there and starting too racwe again!

  • holy smokes thas the fastest slot cars i ever seen

  • They're even faster now. .

  • Racing 27's & opens is the most fun you can have standin up!!!!

  • I concur. . .

  • damn and i thought Nationals GTP cars were fast....havent competed in a wing race yet, but will some day

  • There's a slot car track that looks very similar to that track in Myrtle Beach. It's at one of the malls.

  • ive been to that same place lol

  • Holy Fuck! Them cars are Fast? What motors are they and what track did you race em On?

  • that r platfit cars right?

  • Are those 7's? Or have they got the 27s faster now lol Great pics.. I used to race years ago.. brought back memories

  • just getting back to slots after 30+ years away. My scratch-built brass chassis didn't go QUITE this fast, even though it had the fastest motor sold ($70 back then was a LOT of money to a 15 year old!) at The Gold Cup Raceway in Ogden, UT in 1973!!

  • A great sport. Try running 1/24 TSRF chassis with a Tamiya hard body, it is much better

  • I agree, way too fast.

1/32 and 1/64 all the way. At least where I live, you're not going to find enough people who race those 1/24 lexan-bodied jobs to have competitions, so where's the sport?

  • whats the fun far to fast thats not racing

  • holy shit

  • If it wasn't for the crash I couldn't tell what scale they were since they were going so fast.
