  • so beautiful IM PROUD TO BE A COPTIC!

  • @PETE1DUDE

i know the daughter of an coptic priest. her family is one of the rare who kept the coptic tradition.

they speak it fluently. because i think there will be never again such a oppurtunity i just started to learn reading coptic and a little vocabulary from her :)

  • O King of Peace; Give us your peace Confirm your peace and forgive us our sins. Disperse churches enemies And fortify it and strengthen it Forever. Emmanuel our God; Now in our midst; In all His fathers glory; And the Holy Spirit. May he Bless us all, Purify our hearts; And heal the illness Of our bodies and souls. We worship you O Christ; With your gracious Father, and The Holy Spirit; For you have risen and saved us!
  • HELP THE COPTS! I PRAY FOR THEM!

  • LOVE

  • Beautiful hymnic singing--many thanks. It is inspiring that you continue to pray to God in Coptic language with these beautiful melodies.

  • Wait, this is in Coptic? As in the ancient Coptic language of Egypt?? Wow! I assumed most Copts chanted their hymns in the pagan tongue of the Greeks.

  • @YemeniteChanter There's no such thing as a "pagan tongue." That said, after the dispute over Chalcedon a lot of anti-Greek sentiment arose in the Coptic church.

  • @Cherubicon

Perhaps I maybe mistaken, but do Coptics actually read and chant in the Coptic (language)? Because I assumed since Copts belonged to the Orthodox Church - they'd have to read in the Greek tongue. Thanks.

  • @YemeniteChanter

Orthodoxy is not inseparably tied to the Greek language. In the case of Egypt, it's a little confusing- there are two churches calling themselves "Orthodox", not in communion with each other: the anti-Chalcedonian Coptic church (which most Copts belong to) and the Chalcedonian Greek Orthodox Church. Both groups use multiple languages, depending on the territory. The Copts came to associate Greek with Byzantine imperialism and emphasized their Egyptian identity more.

  • @Cherubicon

I see. Great information and interesting info! So, if the 10 million Coptic-strong Christians in Egypt belong to either the Chalcedonian and anti-Chalcedonian churches, then I take it that the anti-Chalcedonian Coptics are the ones who conduct their services in Coptic (or Bohairic Egyptian)? And is the Orthodox Coptic Church of Alexandria more in line with the anti-Chalcedonian church?

  • @YemeniteChanter Yes, the Coptic Church is anti-Chalcedonian- they trace their line of Popes down to Dioscorus, whom they venerate as a saint, along with Severus of Antioch. The Chalcedonian Greek Orthodox Church is much smaller. Most of its membership is Arab Egyptian but I don't think they usually identify themselves as Copts. Both churches have missions throughout Africa which use various local languages.

  • @YemeniteChanter We chant the hymns in coptic, but many parts of the liturgy and other services are done in the native tongue. For example, in Egypt they pray in coptic and arabic, in canada we pray in english, coptic and arabic.

  • @YemeniteChanter greeks are not pagans for us , they are the light and the pride of orthodoxy!

  • a question, when do they sing this hymn in mass ? I am just trying to understand the place of the hymn in liturgy

  • @albertcorn This Hymn is sung on Feasts in the at the same time the bread which will become the Eucharist comes into the Church and the Alter.. and it is also sung in weddings when the Bride and Groom come in.

  • This is the language of Egypt. This language belongs to all Egyptians regardless of the religion aspect. It is the language spoken by their ancestors for 1000 years. The work Copt originate from the Greek Agypto. Most of Egyptians were Christians, and overtime, it was used to refer to specifically the Christians of Egypt. God Bless Egyptians Christians and Moslems, they are all Copts!

  • Coptic chant is beautiful and a wonderful tool of evangelization. Imagine how much more powerful it could be in a fully unified, catholic, Church! Ut unum sint!

  • We cant even replace a toilet seat without permission from the dictator.

  • As close to Ancient Egypt as you can get !

  • How beautiful is our language and faith !

  • @hetismij21 I lived in Egypt for a year. Being a 20% minority in Egypt against both a majority Islamic population AND Islamic regime gives us Coptic Christians little room to denounce anything. Tight policies by the government regarding building churches, Islam being pronounced strongly in metros, echoing from the thousands of mosques five times everyday, taunts in the street are all things that Christians must consider there before speaking up. We will get there ;-).

  • god help us from the people who try to destroy our coptic nation. we will not give up and no one can scare us, for what do we have to be afraid of with jesus christ.

  • this is one of my favorite hymns along with ekesmaroot and the hiten or intercession hymns

  • A Gift to my coptic friends :)

  • can any one translate this coptic prayer?

  • The followers of Islam who are slaughtering Christians in Somalia and it is only the Islamic faith which continues to kill apostates. Therefore, you had mass coverage about a pastor who was going to burn the Koran but you have a virtual silence about the annihilation of Christianity in Somalia and the burning of Bibles in Pakistan.

It appears that killing Christians in Somalia and burning Bibles in Pakistan is fine because we must not upset the religion of Islam.

  • blessed be our coptic orthodox church, power of the cross of christ

  • Ik woon nu al 16jaar in nederland en ben geboren in Egypte!

Het woord daar steeds moeilijker voor de coptische bevolking om te leven !:(

    Insha'allah komt alles goed !

Peace from Holland to al the coptics and al the another christ!

    And Peace to EGYPT!

  • this is not about any pride !! you are monophisites !! long live Dioscor , Sever m and Eutichius !! may Saint Euphemya enlighten your minds to return to orthodoxy

  • we are not monophisites at all , we fully believe in the double nature of christ, by the way , i was told by one of the highest greek clergy men, that we are fully orthodox, it was a problem of semantics in the 4 th century to make believe wrongly that we are monphysists, by the way it is our people egyptians who gave refuge to christ and the holy family, please stop judging others, and do not forget that we are the first big country to be christians in history,"BLESSED BE EGYPT MY PEOPLE"bible

  • One small catch. If you are Orhodox you dont believe in the double Nature of Christ. You believe in the Holy Trinity of God. After all "his divinity never separated from his humanity, not for a moment or the twinkling of an eye." Sound familiar. Its part of the ORTHODOX CEED.

  • Dude God still loves you and you will be saved if you are looking for God. Just read your koran more and you see for own self if its right or if its wrong.

  • YOU SHOULD READ IT AND THINK BEFORE YOU FOLLOW A CHILD MOLESTER. HERE IS PROOF IN YOUR OWN HOLY BOOKS.

'A'isha reported that Allah's Apostle married her when she was seven years old, and he was taken to his house AS A BRIDE WHEN SHE WAS NINE, AND HER DOLLS WERE WITH HER; and when he (the Holy Prophet) died she was eighteen years old. (Sahih Muslim, Book 008, Number 3311)

I did read it and not in english, Arabic. We both know the ENGLISH version is a little different then the TRUE version.

  • We dont have anything like that in our Bible. look brother i truly do love you and pray for all the people around the world. God is love . and he Loves all so we As CHRISTIANS also love all as well..

  • @mumswording

That's part of the Coptic Liturgy, not the Nicene Creed.

  • @ramses0101

We DO NOT believe in the "double nature of Christ". We believe in one nature of Christ just as Saint Cyril and the other Holy Fathers at Ephesus taught.

We are indeed not heretics believing in one strictly divine nature, but the Council of Chalcedon was indeed heretical.

  • @Rahula of course we copts we believe on the double nature of christ, but not separated from each other! go nad ask a preast about this pls!

  • @ramses0101

I have. I can send you testimony from a Coptic Priest which will tell you that we do not believe in two natures, if you would like?

  • @Rahula we copts believe in two natures but not seperated from each other.

pls be precise when it comes to theology , if we believe in one nature, so we are monophysits, but we are not monphysists! i insist that we do not believe in two SEPARATED NATURES, but two natures united not separted from each other, we pray this in our mass-

    god bless you

  • @ramses0101 Ramses you are correct we Believe in the Human and the Divine Nature of Christ united without confusion or alteration in ONE WILL (or one Nature).

The One Nature St Cyril talks about is the One will, meaning the Humanity did not separate from the Divinity for a moment or twinkling of an eye; neither did the Divinity eat and over power the Human nature (Nestorian teaching) Neither did the Divinity descend on the human nature during baptism (arainsim).. the last 2 are heracies.

  • @Pharaoh714 yes you are right, god bless you, thank you for your precision.

  • @Pharaoh714 Yeah, now explain that to the Athos monks who still call us monophysites and hold back their bretheren from uniting the Orthodox church. I wonder how our Lord and Master feels about that?! Lord have mercy on us!

  • @GhinainanEvNoti woow thanks for such a wonderful chant. Newer heaerd such chant. God bless you true cristians. Lord bless us all. You left me with no words

  • @GhinainanEvNoti no my friend, they do not call us monophysite any more, and i got this information from the higest hierarchy in the oeucomenic council in geneva, be more tolerant with our greek orthodox brothers

  • @ramses0101 | am tolerant brother, I have many Greek Orthodox friends... but the Athos monks are still a thorn in "Orthodoxy's side" as well as a community of theologians from the EO who are going against the grain... I know this b/c I've had many debates with them on youtube and many other blogs. It's always a few that ruin it for the many!

  • Why do we start these stupid arguments on youtube about what it means to really be orthodox or christian? Can we put our pride and arrogance away for a few minutes so that we can love our brothers and sisters in christ?

  • i am orthodox from Romania !! coptic religion is not the true orthodox religion , but monophisits !! your saints are : Dioscor and Sever !! Dioscor killed saint Flavian and you believe in him as a saint !! saint Euphimia made a miracle once , to show you that you are wrong !! return and not forget that miracle !! you don t recognise the syonds , 4 , 5 , 6 , 7 and believe in a wrong hristology !!

  • you are not orthodox from romania, other wise you would not disturb here a praise for the prince of peace JESUS OUR BELOVED LORD

  • @saftaromanul

We believe in one nature, but so did Saint Cyril and the First Council of Ephesus.

Also, your claim that Saint Dioscorus killed Flavian is totally bogus, given that there were writings issuing from him several months after the Second Council of Ephesus.

No, we don't believe in the 4th-7th Councils. That is not a bad thing because they were in fact heretical.

  • @Rahula all that was more political rather than theology! we consider greeks and all orthodox churches as orthododx , not heretical ! LONG LIFE ORTHODOXY!

  • @ramses0101

No, it was theology. You are right that the faith expressed by the Byzantines in our ecumenical dialogues is essentially orthodox. However, that does not mean the same was the case with the Council of Chalcedon. It was indeed heretical.

  • so beautyful love coptic hymns

  • yes coptic as in not orthodox !!

  • Coptic is Orthodox! do u even knw wat orthodox is?

  • haha, dont worry about that guy bro,

im Coptic Orthodox as well. it is what it is, and has been for centuries.

dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • @naeel6150 There was a schism in 451 over the Council of Chalcedon. Some Copts accepted the Council and joined the Orthodox churches, while others did not and remained with the Oriental Orthodox group of churches, in my view a more ancient tradition. God seems to like having different churches, because one church by itself can't see the whole truth. We need different perspectives, but we all love the same Lord Jesus Christ.

  • @Thrusce

The vast majority of Copts remained Oriental Orthodox. Those who became Chalcedonian were few and were primarily Greeks who had some particular connection to the Empire.

  • @Rahula Thank you for adding this important detail. To me it is further evidence that the Holy Spirit kept this Church separate and unique for a purpose, just as he did with many other branches of the one Church.

  • @Thrusce

Not sure what you mean. What do you mean by "many other branches of the One Church"?

  • @Rahula All the ones that say "this is My body broken for you."

  • @Thrusce

Ah. We don't believe that. The Church is visibly One as Christ's Body is visibly One, because we ARE Christ's Body.

  • @Rahula There is a joke I like to tell. Grandmother is at a parade, and says, "Oh, look! Little Johnny is the only one marching in step!" In the same way you or I believe our church is the best, maybe the only one, but we tend to overlook our own faults and then see everyone else's clearly. But there are many different churches who believe they are the Body of Christ. Their doctrine is sound. On a few points we disagree, but if we love the Lord Jesus Christ, that is the first, best thing.

  • @naeel6150 coptic, in the modern sense, refers to christian Egyptians. So it doesn't have to be just the oriental Orthodox church of Alexandria .

  • please do not write your commentaries here ,because it is a prayer here.

  • go and read , understand and pray and then know who is orthodox.

  • @saftaromanul god bless you , pray for us copts

  • @saftaromanul You seem ignorant, and that's why your account got deleted. Do not make statements about something which you do not know, but ask questions and we would LOVE to answer them!! Peace and love to you my brother!

  • @saftaromanul

Copts are Christian Orthdox (the Church of St. Mark)

Do you know St Mark in the bible. I hope you do.

  • @saftaromanul

The Copts are orthodox, unlike you Chalcedonian heretics. ;-)

  • to download this hymn;

google "tasbeha" go to the 1st link, and search for "Epourou" by Ibraham Ayyad:-)

  • perfect. thank you

  • My favorite Coptic hymn

  • Thank you, Naeel6115, for the great hymn you shared with us!

Ramoozini1099, according to the scientists (e.g. Andreevsky, 1884), invaders influenced but were mostly absorbed by the native etnicity. So, people living on the Egyptian territory are mostly descendents of the ancient Egyptians. The word "Copt" means "The Egyptian", so formally muslims can be copts as well. Simply, nowadays we used to call Egyptian Christians as Copts.

  • this is so beautiful...it's spellbinding, incredible...i love this, thanks so much for posting it!

  • I have a question regarding Copts and Egyptians in general. Are the Egyptian Muslims of the same Ethnicity of the Egyptian Christians ? Or are they mostly the descendents of the Arabian Islamic invaders ?

Because alot of Muslims in Egypt say that they are also Copts who converted to Islam after the 7th century. I hope i will get the answer soon. GOD Bless.

  • Dear Ramoozini, Thanks for an outstanding reply to ALGFUNK.

Copt comes from the greek word Coptus which means CHRISTIAN. Copts were about 99% of the population in Egypt before the prosecution They have been prosecuted until this very day. Coptics (Christian egyptians) are 100% Egyptians. There might be small percentage that were forced to convert to Islam during the Jezya time and thats why they became Muslims who could be from coptic Heritage. Egypt has and always will be a Christian Land.

  • Correction: Coptic means Egyptian, not Christian. So even the Muslim Egyptian is a Coptic. But they have a higher chance of having some Arab in them. But the Christian Coptic has a very high chance of being pure Egyptian!

  • @Ramoozini1099 Hi, yes Muslim egyptian are mixed with arabs, wheareas Coptic or even jewish(they were in Alexendria for the most, convert after Moussa.)are descent from Pharaonic civilisation. There is a video wich explain better than me if you want it! Sorry english isn t my first language

    salaam

  • Oh your Allah prays on Mohammad daily LOOL. Thank God i know Islam like the back of my hand.

And also most of the stories concerning Jesus Christ in the Koran were taken directly from the Gnostic Gospels the ones that were not Cannonized , for example the Infancy Gospel of Thomas and the Protovangilian of Mary , the story of Jesus Christ creating Birds from clay in the KORAN is mentioned in the Infancy Gospel of Thomas hahaha. The Koran came with nothing new.

  • Thank you sir for replying to me. Most of the time i can't tell the difference between and Egyptian Christian and an Egyptian Muslim , because both look very Very similar ! The only time i can tell that one is Christian and one is muslim is by the names they have.

I think most Egyptian Muslims are of the same ethnicity as Egyptian Christians , but The Jizya made alot of Christians convert to Islam unfortuantely.

  • yes but some egyptian muslims have arab ancestary since muslims are allowed to marry other muslims while the copts have no arab blood wat so ever since its forbidden to marry anyone else at the tym that wasnt coptic orthodox but this is only 10 % of the population

  • Its not enough that Islam and Muslims cause problems and make life a living hell in every country they go and destroy every civilization and language they reach, but also have to defile and ruin this wall !

To this Algofink whatever his name is , JESUS CHRIST is God in the Flesh God from God light from light True God from True God ! Even though God revealed himself in the pure person of Jesus Christ , God was not limited in Christ ! God is everywhere and is all powerful and unlimited.

  • does anyone know where I can find an audiofile for this version of the song in particular?

  • ALGfunk. Jesus Christ is God and took flesh to save humanity. It is not at all "IDIOTIC" to believe your listing. It is true and Christians accept this. Christ had to take on every aspect of our humanity (while still retaining his Divinity) in order to save us. And your ranting on Christianity only proves the insecurity you have of your own religion. You will get no one converted to Islam if you keep condemning others and promoting violence. May God forgive you for your unjust criticisms.

  • Bro . . to save a 9 year old by marrying her . . to having sex with a 9 year old. he could of taking her in as his daughter that sounds like saving her, regardless bro God nows everyones heart and if your a Good person with a Loving heart God will open your eyes. God bless you habibii

  • Bro . . Explain to me how is there any love there. killing is not love at all. jews or any other sort of people. just look this wont hurt at all.. do this.. you wont lose nothing... while you pray .. either at night or in the morning .. Ask God Jesus to give you a sign . . ask him with your heart and soul and with all your mind . . and i grantee you you''ll get one. God bless habibii.

  • dear sir, i would be gratefull if you do not add coments here, it is a not a discussion here, it is a prayer. thank you for your understanding. lakom dinakom wa lana dinana.

  • the most beautiful lanugage, good video keep up the good work!

  • Very beautiful

  • Very nice, thank you

  • you're very welcome :) Hope you liked it

  • Salam

  • Sooo peaceful :)

  • Gameeela... Thanks for posting.

  • Wonderful Hymn. Actually this particular tune had been used by the Ancient Egyptians when they received their Pharaohs. When Egypt accept Christ and converted to Christianity. Most of the Ancient Egyptian Music was given Christian lyrics, and thus many beautifyl Ancient tunes have survived in the music of the Coptic Church - Adam

  • JohnCrysostom,

So true and thats why we still keep all the coptic hymns as it is in church. Coptic tunes are the best :). God bless

  • hello adam, where did you get this information? can you tell me about a book or a website about that? i thought it was the melodies in ancient temples!

    thanks to inform me

  • JohnCrysosstom:

I heard that the Coptic Christians adapted many elements from the ancient Pharaonic Egyptian traditions, but couldn't really confirm whether it was true.

    Thank you.

  • yes...ancient christianity have many things in common with Egypt and the Orphism.

    Christianity is their natural continuation...

  • That's what my " research " basically shows. The Coptic church basically Christianized the religion / cult of Osiris, Isis, & Horus ( Wsir, Aset, Heru - er ).

  • yes, but not only coptic church, early christianity. For example also in the thracian church. IN early Orphism Osiris and Dionisus, the Thracian god is same person...

  • What about Mithra ( Persian / Greek ? ) ?

  • There is connection too. Persian Empire were in connection with the Judaism, Oprhism (Alexander the Great asked the Oracle in Perperek, the ancient Thracian City of Orphism, later christian). But this all is because all have Common Begining. But for me the most pure and preserved concepts are in the early Christian Mysticism.

  • Some people have even gone so far as to say that Jesus' teachings ( Sermon on the Mount, Beatitudes, Parables ) were tinged by Hindu - Buddhist thought brought by merchants & travelers from India & the East, that they influenced early Christianity, too. The early Church supposedly believed in reincarnation. I have at least 2 books about " Missing Christianity ".

  • & a lot of Buddhists believe that Jesus is / was a " Boddhisatva ", an enlightened being who renounced Nirvana to come back & bring others to enlightenment. Not what I believe, personally, but I'm just quoting losely from their sources.

  • Knoxvilleguy2

Coptic church is one of the oldest churchs in the world. It was established by St Mark the Apostle in the 1st Century. The Copts kept the same traditions, teachings, books and even hymns until this very day. They did not adopt any other religions in their church or any old religions such as Isis or Horus and Defiantly does not have any relationship with Buddhist teachings or Hindus. All their sources come from The Holy Bible

    Thank you - God bless

  • naeel6150:

I certainly didn't intend any disrespect or offense. But I have read some very informed, " learned " sources in books & on the Internet that state that the Coptic church DID take ancient Egyptian myths from the cults of the gods & goddesses of the Pharaohs & nobles, & adapted them to the Gospel accounts in the Bible. It's called syncretism.

  • hahah no no i didnt mean to be soo defensive anyways. But I am coptic myself and there isnt anything we believe that isnt from the bible. Everything taught in our church including the Bible are from the old teachings of St Mark.

  • Yes, no conscious disrespect intended.

St. Mark came to Egypt from the Judean area, correct ?

And I think he is buried in India after traveling there ( Goa ), Or maybe it was St. Thomas.

  • St Mark did not go to India it was St Thomas.

St Mark the evangelist died in Alexandria in Egypt on 68 AD.

    God bless
