  • This movie is so sad but so well written. like omg, i couldn't imagine being in that situation. The grandmother is just physiological but the mother is just a true BITCH i don't understand what made her SO EVIL!?!? like WOW, it made me tear up because of how evil she is! I'm happy they got away, but i wouldn't be normal after that experience. Just happy this wasn't based of a true story cause then i would really be in tears!

  • that's my kristy swanson!

  • This movie was freaky when I first saw in back in the day. Still creeps me out a bit even now. I know it's receiving a lot of hate, but its really not that bad, and I still dig it as a creepy shock thriller.

  • awful movie , i dont know how v.c.andrews agreed to apper in this shit .... books are 100000000 times better

  • @andreagomez92 I disagree, I don't want to see a movie about a brother and sister screwing each other, that's why this movie is perfect because it showed camaraderie between the siblings, and that's all.

  • this is nothing like the book!!??!! where's the part where cathy kisses bart and when they get back up in the attic chris breaks down and takes cathy by force.!!!! this movie is not true to the original story!!! if it wasn't based off the book it would have been an amazing movie but it is so it's just shit!!! no offense to the actors though...the children did an amazing job.

  • what a crap ending! lol

  • DAMN YOU TO HELL MOTHER IF YOU DONT TAKE CORY TO A HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW!! YOU GO GIRL! THAT BITCH DEERVES TO BE SLAPPED

  • this movie makes no sense at all

  • Despite the number of complaints everyone is making about the movie, id like to thank bono16161 for taking the time to upload this film, ive never read the books and i dont have 50 hours to spare

  • LOL

I'm sorry. I woulda GOT me some diamonds before I left that house!

  • Ding dong the witch is DEAD!!!!

  • Screw this. GO READ THE FLIPPING BOOK!!!

  • The fight scene at the end was rather pathetic

  • I'd rather it be this way. No offense to those that love this books but the whole incest, raping siblings would throw me off this movie.

  • WHAT A TURD OF AN ENDING! WTF DID I JUST WASTE AN HOUR AND A HALF OF MY LIFE ON?

  • The books are better than the movie there is way more parts to this movie there are 5 books for this movie I hate the way they tell it. They took out alottttt of stuff

  • @KidrauhlHolic maybe they could not add haft the stuff do to the way the books were banned an many places in usa. They did try to get the point across.

  • @tomhansonlover Yeah I know right! I read all the books and its amazing

  • what the hell ending was that?!? there is so much more shit that happend to those kids its ridiculous! DONT TAKE A SERIES AND TURN IT INTO A ONE TIME MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!! lame sauce

  • the mother was a massive cunt

  • OMG so glad that sorry excuse for a mother died and I hope she burns in hell

  • @TheRealAlphaWolfKate She's not supposed to die....it ruined the chances for there to actually be another movie....read the books and you'll understand that death wasnt the best thing for that evil bitch

  • Eat some sandwich!

  • @xFunnyBunny13x you need to read petals on the wind first before if there be thorns and all that...petals on the wind is the second one...if there be thorns is the third...the story will make more sense that way...

  • NOT HOW IT ENDED. Almost the whole movie was off?? I read the book TWICE and now I'm reading the second, YES, the story continues! It's called If There Be Thorns and Seeds Of Yesterday!

  • @xFunnyBunny13x They ruined the story :(

  • I just wish they'd remake this :\ it was such a beautiful story

  • nice twist.... but you missed too many parts

  • @sayurnameli418 they're more parts?

  • 1:00 this little "added" surprise made both the director and actress playing Corinne to both walk off the set and quit production, but eh so-called "producers" insisted and brought in some second unit director to film it with a stand in for Victoria Tennett...WHY? it totally ruined the chance for the sequels but overall I still like the film as a stand alone.

  • Wth , she never dies .

  • this movie did not do the book justice, in any sense. You could not show the passing of 3 years, and the pure torture that they went throught, and of cours as @aliciathefatpenguin said, not enough incest. Although this showed the grandmother well, the rest of it was a terrible excuse for a depiction of an incredible, captivating novel.

  • O.M.G WHAT HORABELL MOTHER

POR POR CORRY WHAT KIND OF MOTHER IS SHE WTF IS WRONGE WHITH THAT

STUPIDE MOTHER ... WELL SHE IS AKTING BUT STILL IF IT WAS IN REAL LIFE ILL SEW HER F*CK U

  • They did this movie all wrong I wish they would have done it right

  • this movie didn't have enough incest, as weird as that sounds.

  • Louise Fletcher great at the sinister characters! From the Grandmother to Kai Wynn!

  • I love the series of VC Andrews. There should be a series based on each one of the books. I don't care how long it takes to produce, direct, etc. We need real acting and real films back on. I would love to have something to do with it. I love acting and I love script writing. If someone can find the director/producer's name, I will contact them and see about putting this into action.

  • this movie blows. books were way better

  • @SuperJackgay I loved the book. I love all the series, especially If there be thorns,Petals on the wind and Garden of Shadows. I would love to play the Grandmother Olivia. I have a nose similar to the one described in Flower's in the Attic. The Grandmother wore a grey taffeta dress with crocheted neckline with a diamond brooch at the stiff neckline.

  • If V.C. Andrews was alive she'd sue... This was horrible.

  • @NykoleNightshade VC Andrews was in this film by the way. She played a maid. She definitely knew about this film. She wasn't completely impressed either. She sold her right's to the film company to produce it. She was in her last stages of life then.

  • In case you didn't hear; Eventually this movie is going to be taken down because of the new anti-piracy bill that has passed. There was a hearing on it today. It's called SOPA, "Stop Online Piracy Act". Look it up on youtube and google to find out more about it. The people of hollywood did a video watch?v=5ElE2yXjO9M&feature=related

  • @bono16161 Sorry to hear that, I've sure enjoyed it.

  • You would think that in all the time Cathy (Kristy) and Chris (Jeb) spent in the attic their roots would have started showing. Are we just to assume they snuck downstairs, and even though their own brother was starving, they stole HAIR DYE.

  • "we left the past behind ..all except the memories" !! Holy f**k , who let the scriptwriter out of the asylum ?

  • how could a mom be so selfish. i wish she stayed alive so she could live with that for the rest of her life. even though its just a story..

  • @bry252123 The book was better than the movie. Obviously. It is somewhat based on a true story of a woman who had an affair with her relative and the mother punished her children by locking them in an attic. But they did escape and the mother and grandmother were jailed. This happened in the 1940's.

  • It's isn't as good as the book, but it was ok.

  • Still a good film after all these years, Shame the grandmother is a bitch!

  • tha. sucked.

  • Now why couldnt the book of had an ending like that haha

  • @JENNnEDed the ending never did happen like that in Flower's in the attic. It was in If there be thorns where the house caught on fire and the grandmother is burned to death and the mother gets her karma.

  • @rsvy913688 Oh! I know! I'm currently reading the series no fixing to actually start reading If There Be Thorns so Shhh! Don't tell me! LOL I just loved the way she was all EAT THE COOKIE and then her mother falls and hangs herself on her wedding veil... Its quite comical! HAHA!

  • I think "The Virgin Suicides" seems similar to this.

  • Damn, my name is Corrine -.-

  • I want someone to make a new movie, one that is actually more like the book.

  • @memu137 If I could come up with a few million, I would. I thought about this too why there can't be a remake that's more like the book. What really would work is a television series because you can't condense everything into a two hour film. My suggestion is to write to producer's of this film and ask them about that because they may be able to answer that.

  • wow, what a dumb ending. nothing like the book. there were some little parts from the book but they were all scattered all over the place, none of them put in the right order. and I kept thinking that chris was going to make a move on cathy because of how they acted around each other, but it never happened. and everything else was wrong. i knew that this movie wouldn't be as good as the book, but i was still disappointed.

  • I'm happy that I finally saw this movie, but they really ruined the ending... D:

  • @Rikkunkun I know, right? There is so many things wrong with this movie. Start with how UGLY all the kids are. Or the bad acting, with the exception of the grandmother and Cathy or how they are all too old

  • @MarilynMacron

    Yeah. ._.

Big part of the original story was that they were growing at the attic.. they weren't teens yet.

and corrine wasn't beautiful enough, in the book she was so pretty as cathy told.

bart was looking good, even thou' he was missin his moustache,, he had thos in the book =w=

and i coul go on and on and on.. :D

and yeah, cathy and crish didn't have unnatural relationship...

if you make a movie, make it right! ><

  • @Rikkunkun Also who has blue eyes in this movie? In the book Cathy Chris Carrie Cory and Corrine all had blonde hair and blue eyes. Here Cathy, Chris, and Corrine have brown eyes, and Carrie and Cory have greenish blue eyes. I defintely wish they kept the tar as well. I was so looking foward to that scene. I'd go on and on, but you get my point. The original movie script was even written with the help of VC Andrews herself! They should have kept it

  • @MarilynMacron

    you said it!

  • @MarilynMacron I agree. Have you ever heard of the movie She-Devil with Roseanne Bar? I like some fiction books and the Life and Loves of a She Devil was the book but She devil was based off that. The movie sucked. The british series, "Life and Loves of a she-devil (which I own on dvd) is more like the book. We need a series on tv based on VC Andrew's series starting with Garden of Shadows.

  • So if they pushed the woman out of the window and I assumed KILLED her, would they just be able to WALK AWAY like that? I mean wouldn't some police and/or child protective services be involved?

  • @littlebit19801 she did n't push her , the mom accidently fell.

  • @SuperGina21 It's still funny how they'd just walk away. Did they just set out to live on their own?

  • Best score ever by Christopher Young!

  • too bad this movie was a failure... I would have liked to see a movie for My Sweet Audrina.... they should do a remake of this movie including a lot more stuff that was in the books... out of all the VC Andrews books i read, Flowers in the Attic was my favorite, the entire series was my favorite series by her.... this movie totally ruined the book >:(

  • I applauded and cheered when that evil BITCH mother died! A fitting end for such a fool

  • @Corbin007 Did she die? I thought I heard she was put in an insane asylum, but maybe that's just in the book.

  • @Corbin007 I loved this scene. In the book If there be thorns, the grandmother gets burned in the house. The mother I think dies too. I cannot totally remember. I have the book someplace. I have to re read the ending.

  • it was john AMOS, not hall. -.-

  • i hope they remake this film it left out so much lol but it makes me laugh i cant take it seriously especially EAT THE COOKIE!!

  • @WorldofNene I am going to get the book and go through it eventually. Try to come up with a script and post it someplace. I need some help from someone. I didn't study film editing and writing so it's difficult but I think this movie has potential to be remade. The book takes place back in the 1940's till the 1960's.

It is actually a fictionalized account of a true story!

  • this is the same movie i saw years ago but it IS missing parts to it. i remember the movie HEAVILY hinting at incest between chris and cathey. not shown, but there was no question about it. and i remember the grandmother yelling at the kids about eating the cookies. always made me wonder if she was actually trying to keep the kids alive- in order to spoil corinnes plan? or maybe because shes so deeply religious she was worried about murder...idk. still glad to have found it.

  • @annej9683 No, her yelling at them to eat the cookies wouldnt have kept them alive due to the poison. She wanted those "evil" children dead. They were sin from the moment of conception as she put it....why would she wan them alive just to spoil Corrines plans?

  • @annej9683 the books had more incest they had sex and chris raped her at one time but was sad about what he did.

  • I seen this movie before i ever knew about a book but now I'm reading the book . And i equally love the book and the movie! :)

  • I'll have to use that eat the cookie quote sometime.

  • The book was 20x better than this....

  • 1:16 yeah, good job! momma's dead. Now quick, let's go upstairs and have sex!

  • oh crap, john had my last name..... Good thing its fiction

  • did corrine really die? i did'nt had a chance to finished the book...:C please reply..tnx

  • @0304iamme No, she doesn't die until the third book in the series which was waaaaaaaay later.

  • did corrine really die? i did'nt had a chance to finished the book...:C

  • @0304iamme sadly he did :(

  • In the book it was poisoned doughnuts. Not poisoned cookies. And the kids didn't get out of the attic until AFTER the mom was married. Sad... :(

  • Thank you x

  • the movie sorta shows it wrong. its like killing malfoy in harry potter :/

  • OMG poisoned cookies!!!!!!!!!!!!!! well at least they have orange juice! yummy!!! : )

  • I do agree that there's only so much a movie can show, but there are definitely things they could have done better. They really didn't represent the timeline, here. They're supposed to be up there for like three years. Cathy's hair didn't even grow back- and it wasn't even as long as it was supposed to be in the first place. Plus they added shit that didn't even happen in the book. WTF is up with those German Shepherds?

  • @marthajustmartha I think the filmmakers wanted to add extra reason how the children couldn't just run away from the mansion, with the armed caretaker and his dogs.

  • EAT THE COOKIE

  • I really wish people would stop acting like a bunch of juveniles on here with the "OMGodzZ! Teh book was soooo much better!"

The movie can only show so much. It's one of those things where if you like the movie, then read the book. It gives you a sample of what the book is about. It is not intended to be a replacement. Really wish people would grow the F up.

  • @MystikWizard Whilst yes that is true, it is intended to be a sample, to make the movie so much better, they should have included more of the storyline from the book. They left out rather important parts. If I hadn't read the books, I wouldn't have understood some of the stuff in this movie. It isn't very clear.

  • Did you see the smile on Cathy's face.. 1:15 minutes.. when her mother was hanging, after being pushed??

I guess she got her revenge after all..

You know what they say.. What Goes Around,, Comes Around!.. And it is SO TRUE.. @bono16161 Thanks SO MUCH for sharing this movie with us hun!!...

  • @mama3183 I thought I was the only one who notices Cathy's smile :)

  • oh yeah she killed their mother(fucker)!!

  • Right now im crying. The grandmother reminds me of my mother. I was the only child she gave me everything but was disheartened once she found out i was gay. There is so much more to tell but since my mother is dead and i have the upmost respect for her i will keep it to myself. I dont know if anybody else agrees with this but all the money in the world cant compare to being yourself and being happy with life. RIP mother i love you.

  • @31behold

:( wow that's sad, my life is like this movie too

  • @PrueStar your mom trapped you in an attic?

  • @gothchic09

Well not exactly like that, but I had to go and sneak to get food in the middle of the night just so I wouldn't stave. And both of my aunts are so religious, alot like the grandmother . So just little bits remind me of my life.

  • EAT THE COOKIE!!!!!!!!!!!! BEST LINE EVA thumbs up if u agree

  • @719hannah I would SO eat the cookie. Cause if she was trying to prove that it was a lie ( you know about them being her kids) and it only killed you slowly it would be fine to eat just that little bite of the cookie. That and I enjoy cookies... :P

  • shut up about the books already shit we know its better

  • the book was more intense. I didn't know there were "books," plural. However, the book I read called "Flowers in the Attic" was a very intense story and very heart breaking. I read it in ninth grade and had nightmares about it. I've seen this movie before, but it was LONG before I even read the book. Of course, I didn't know that THAT'S what this was. I watched this movie when I was very young anyway.

This does not do the book justice, in my personal opinion.

  • ARE YOU KIDDINGG MEEE?

oh my god... i hate this. the books, we're 578403 times better, of course. the movie alone wasn't that bad, as just a movie, but really!? thats not what happenes to Corrine

  • OMG is it me or does that mansion look like Jack Nicholson house in The Witches of Eastwick?

  • i didnt know the mom dies like this in the movie ?

  • The books are great. This movie well not so much.

  • Best movie everr! The books should have ended this way. :D

  • @SalvyGirlCindy13 everybody says the book was better, i think the movie was better,

  • The Books are way better, this film is a disapointment it the book. They have missed a lot out of the book,

Thankyou for uploading this to Youtube.

  • Corrine deserved to die wearing those boots with that dress. Who wearing boots with a wedding dress come om.

  • @TudorRose85 lmao

  • @TudorRose85 lol!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TudorRose85 AND theyre like the ugliest boots ever

  • @TudorRose85 unless you're from Texas and they're cowboy boots. :)

  • eat the cookie BITCH, LOL

  • I TOLD MY FRIEND TO WATCH FLOWERS IN THE ATTICTHAT ITS THE ONLY MOVIE THAT MAKES ME CRY, AND SHE SAID SHE LIKES PART 2 BETTER, SMOKIN WEED IN THE ATTIC, ITS THE ONLY THING THAT GETS HER HIGH LOL.

  • UHHH isn't that murder? Cathy your going to jail!

  • @MadisonS87 How could it be murder? She didn't push her mother over the side, she fell.

  • @MadisonS87 Well technically Cathy never laid a hand on her nor did any physical harm. =o The mother merely fell off the balcony and got chocked by her own dress.

  • @ns221060 o.o Oh wait. I forgot that they struggled. My bad. =o

  • @ns221060 She provoked the situation and she did touch her.. That shows clearly on mark :54 and ends at mark 1:00

  • For those who can't understand abuse the children had to make their own family unit to survive. Of course their siblings but since all they could do is rely on eachother for love, it developed past sibling love. It's understandable. Honestly, I love those two together, and the sequals of the books are happy and tragic all at the same time. Because even through all this they eventually still drift apart but in the end finally find their way back to eachother.

  • this movie jus ruinedd the book for me -_-

  • The movie is way better than the book and i dont care what anyone says , i personally love the movie more than the book . the book has sequels and and i prefer the movie because it doesn't go on and on it ends Great because the mother dies i love this movie (:

  • Definitely needs to be remade.... the relationships need to be more developed and that most definitely was NOT the ending of the book this is extremely different... Incest is never a good thing but in this case it's honestly very understandable you have two very traumatized abused children... who ONLY had each other for years in an isolated room with literally NO ONE else but each other developing feeling unloved wanting to be loved... it's bound to happen very sad...

  • EAT THE COOKIE!

  • i didnt clearly understand why the mom wanted to remarry and keep secret she has children. and how did she find that new man

  • @captxena3 the name of the book is the name of the movie.

  • They need to make that movie again

  • ok all the talk about book is making want to read will some one plz tell me the name of the book i want 2 read it plz plz thank u

  • @captxena31 through all thirteen parts of this movies you asked that question and got the same answer over and over......are you slow or something.....geeeezeee THE NAME OF THE BOOK IS......*FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC*.........CAPEEESSSP......?

  • so.. i have nothing to say about that pathetic little stunt those idiotic producers pulled.

  • what the FUCK?

What just happened? Seriously. What just happened there? Were these producers on dope?

  • i thought this movie was really disappointing :( compared to the books this movie is absolutly terrible. i think they should remake this movie and do it right this time

  • THIS MOVIE SUCKS DONKEY SHIT COMPARED TO THE BOOK.

  • Horrible!!!! Nothing at all like the book!!!!!

  • PLEASE SOMEONE GOOD BRILLIANT PLEASE REALLY REALLY DO REMAKE THE WHOLE MOVIE AND MAKE THE SEQUALS TO IN TO MOVIES TOO AND THIS TIME FOLLOW ALL THE BRILLIANT BOOK(S) WORD FOR WORD AND ETC BECAUSE THEY ARE THE BOOKS ARE BRILLIANT, WHERE AS THE MOVIE IS NOW FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC MOVIE AS IT IS NOW IS SHITTT AND DOESNT FOLLOW THE BOOKS OR AND STORY ETC AT ALL AT ALL, PLEASE PLEASE SOMEONE BRILLIANT I BEG YOU PLEASE FIX THIS BIG BIG PROBLEM!!!! THANK YOU!!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • @Hermione1983 I am working on it. It takes a lot of serious editing and script writing.

  • Well that was an abrupt ending...

  • @weirderthanyou1 I agree, the fight was so quick and a little anticlimatic.... Had they drawn it out, I would've enjoyed this movie a little more.

At least the soundtrack is excellent! :)

  • oh this movie is so different from the books, honestly if you havnt already read the books they are truley amazing!

  • ding dong the bitch is dead

  • No it didn't end like this at all. They escape and Cathy comes back to face her mother and stepfather who she has a relationship with even having his baby. She does this to make her mother pay while Chris never lets Cathy go and Carrie is never able to be happy again so she even kills herself. It is all very tragic and so very sad. The books are so much better and I recommend anyone to read them. A.M Torres author of Love Child

  • This is not how it ends! I thought they ran away and came back! They came back and paid the sick grandmother a visit too! And Carrie didnt grow very tall because she was very poor fed when she was in the attic.

  • Also there's so much wrong here it's laughable! Carrie didnt seem to care about Cory's death here, whereas in the book she was so broken she stopped eating and talking! The mouse wasn't name Fred, but Micky and they were locked in there for years causing incest between Chris and Cathy- incest was a key in this entire series and here it's barely noticed!

  • @MarilynMacron Ya well incest is a taboo subject, Wes Craven was suppose to write and direct this film, but they objected to the scrip because it delt with the incest so much. I bet the movie wouldn't been really creepy if wes would've done it.

  • @MarilynMacron

there was something about how they wanted the film to be a PG-13 so they cut out all the parts involving or relating to incest. Stupid really, cause then it doesn't keep to the real story.

  • @MarilynMacron

some how, even though it's sad and disturbing, I think it matches when the mother didn't care about cory at the end, it shows how much money has consumed her and how heartless she was. I didn't read the books myself, but that's just my opinion on it.

  • They probably couldn't make a sequel anyway because they killed off the mother.

  • @MarilynMacron

Keep in mind the time this was filmed.

  • @MarilynMacron when they take a book and make it a movie or show some times they really mess up like vampire daries they put a ugly Black haired girl in the role of a pretty White blonde with blue eyes not ugly brown and that was the point of the books aswell her hair was like looking at a angel not a trash bag.

  • @MarilynMacron i suppose they wanted to make it into a tv friendly movie. like one of those lame daytime tv movies they put on 4 mums with small kids at home daytime. very boring indeed the book was the best and had great story...this...was lame

  • @MarilynMacron Not to mention the mother didnt die yet, and that in this film she dad and her death was totally fake and gay

  • corrine's death was so much better in the books. She didn't die here, but in 'if there be thorns' b/c she changed and tried to save Cathy (i'm delibertly keeping this vauge in case you plan on reading it and died that way but saved Cathy.

  • According to the book, that kid was supposed to nail his sister and never did. I'm so disappointed.

  • Well the book was waaaaay more developed, and this leaves no room for a sequel, but I suppose for a movie to do the books justice it would have to be like twenty bajillion hours long

  • The movie is good but they changed so many things in it..... I wish someone would redo the movie

  • The downside of this is that they made the movie so that no-one could create a sequal (if there be thorns) also in the book wasn't it donuts and also Corey was put in the cupboard after he passed? I know it has been many years since I read the book. thanks for putting this up though :)

  • @kate2683au he was but you dont find that out till like the 3rd book, till then you believe that he was buried.

  • this movie is good n all but i was really pissed when i saw it because the book is so absolutely amazing and it ends COMPLETELY different -_- I DECLARE A REMAKE!!!!
