The complete lyrics of the Deutschlandlied have been written by Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1841. Far away from beeing a nazi, von Fallersleben was a liberal who supported the unity of Germany based on democracy, for which he was banned from Prussia. The first (two) verses are NOT banned in Germany, and they do not contain any nazi propaganda at all, like some people obviously seem to think. The 3rd verse simply reflects the ideals of a modern Germany best.

This is not our national anthem. This is the "Song of the germans / Das Lied der Deutschen".

Our national anthem is since 1991 just the last verse of it, beginning at 2:20

Why? Because the first 2 verses express the national proudness of the germans and were misused by the national socialism.

They are neither forbidden nor including any kind of nazi stuff. They're just not part of the national anthem due to historical events..
