As someone who is a layam, and an american, i desperately want to learn french, and like yourself, become fluent. Being fluent in english (lame) has grown stale, and i dont want to be labelled as a typical american who is either too lazy, too inconsiderate, or too stupid to learn and care about other languages. Plus, i think its very sexy when women speak it. My question to you is, how long have you been speaking, and was it very hard starting out?
This might seem obvious, but Spanish is big right now because our neighbor, Mexico, has Mexicans coming over here all the time, and to prevent annoyances, we learn Spanish, but Canada has French speakers so it's good to learn French to :)
I agree completely I live outside of Boston Massachusetts USA and I am doing a independent russian study and the only books at the book store were published in 1962 and talked about the soviet union as if it were still here I had to spend hundreds on Russian books from amazon. And I even went to best buy for some Russian software and they had German, French, Brazilian-Portuguese, Italian, chinese, Japanese, Arabic, and even ingles "English for a Spanish speaker" but no russian it was very annoy
First , Bonne année - Happy new year . Then , honestly when you are speaking french few times we can hear a little accent but most of the time no so dont worry for your accent . Just a little thing , 'Paris' in french isnt pronunce like in english we dont pronounce 'S' at the end just 'Pa-ri' but french people will understand you .
When québécois french TV shows are shown on TV monde which is a french tv channel i notice they use french subtitles. I wish they would do the same for scottish tv shows shown in england.
@spiderheiress Oh, and I completely agree with what you said about the lack of resources for languages other than Spanish. I was hoping to find some simple children's books to help with my German, and I found nothing within the States that didn't cost something ridiculous. It makes me sad. It also makes me wish I was more passionate about Spanish, but for some reason, the language just doesn't interest me.
Hey, you speak quite good in French ! You really could speak with French people and they would understand you =). You don't speak French with a French accent ^^, but we can quite well understand you ! :)
I think it sounds like you're you're trying a little too hard to me. I'm not a native speaker mais je le parle couramment :) So I can hear accents clearly. Yours is pretty thick :/
I promise it's worth looking at. :) Best way to learn a language in my opinion. tut mir leid mein deutsch ist nicht sehr gut.
No supply of French books? I can't understand that. French is spoken in Canada, so it's not like we're talking about some rare far away language that isnT spoken on the AMerican continent. Furthermore French is the second most spoken international Lingua Franca in the world.
You speak French very well ..... really better than me. I've forgotten so much vocabularies and words that I just can sometimes ask for directions or order something to eat / drink ..... it's great how you learn languages.... bravo. I´m almost just a little bit envious. ;-)
But i completely agree... All of my german books i bought were in Berlin, because I can't find German reads anywhere here! I wanna see some more videos from you, because you like languages like me! haha
I have recently bought the German Rosetta Stone! So during my Christmas Break I hope to work on it and learn it!
But seriously, with that book problem...here in california its worse! We have so many Spanish speakers that you cant find anything about German, French, etc..
There should really be options in the bookstores of all the major languages out there.
