  • How late did you stay up to make this?

  • @Noodlemonkey7 I can't remember-very late

  • @yoshielectron

Bad boy, you should have been in bed ;)!

  • nicely done Yoshi! I didn't even know there was a portable version.

    Flames540

  • Sega Master is like an older version of the Sega Genesis?

  • Yes and with the converter you can play Master system games on the Mega drive/Genesis.

  • i have a SEGA Genisis but i don't have the things for it:

    Connections For TV

    Power Cord

    Controllers

    Games

    yeah yeah i know

  • I'm sure you could get all those things quite cheap.

  • Yes! I like the sega master system, but more if i emulate them (i don't have the real games, but i have it on Sonic Mega Collection Plus (XBox))! Thanks for the video, i also see in the Europe emulation it is at the same speed as the REAL console.

  • Been years since I played on a Master System.

  • I had these games on my Master system mark II, AWESOME VIDEO!!

  • Hi.

  • Hello, did you like the video?

  • yes

  • nice you really are a classic gamer my father used to have a master system but got rid of it a long long time ago but later he got a genesis which has became mine however i play all my games on a emulator because my game genie doesn't work anymore and the emulator doesn't emulate poorly like newer ones for n64 and later

  • Well, I'd always rather play on the original hardware but it's hard to find the cables, etc.

  • i would too the only thing is i can do a lot more with an emulator than using the console its also a pain to set all the cables to every addon let alone finding it in my garage with to much unnecessary junk that i don't have the time right now to clean it up when i could just play the emulator......

  • I wouldn't have been able to do some of the advanced codes I've done without using an emulator. But my computer's too slow to record emulators so it's just as well I can record from my real N64.

  • well luckily my pc is very fast and custom built by myself to my specifications so everything except n64 and later consoles run perfect or better than the console itself.

  • My laptop plays N64 games fine it's only when trying to record it runs slow.

  • This is like an 8-bit version of Sega Genesis. I guess Sega Genesis came after this, right?

  • Yes-the Genesis actually contains the Master system's CPU (but used for sound) which was handy for the converter.

  • yeah it did Sega Genesis is 16 bit and came out after master system but before super Nintendo

  • do you have game genie for these games?

  • I have never been able to get one for Master system.

  • hey yoshielectron i got an idea for a code for you to make... its to replace the color of the koopas' shell to orange like the "smart" koopas

  • You mean red?

  • yes those...

  • You'd probably need to edit the textures but you could probably get close with codes.

  • i have the sega saturn

  • Me too and I hope to show it in a video.

  • If you have a Genisis/MegaDrive, I STRONGLY recommend getting Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles (it's also for SAT, PC, GCN, PS2, XBox, and DS, not Wii, not PS3 nor Xbox360.)

The MasterSystem/GameGear Sonics were delightful discoveries to me, more 2D Sonic games I didn't play a decade ago (I only had a Genesis). Sonic CD and Knuckles Chaotix were also cool.

  • I totally agree with you and I'll be showing various Mega drive Sonic games in another video.

  • lol i have a sega genesis with 32x and cd in perfect condition with many games and other rarer ones you won't see on youtube anytime soon.

  • actually if you have sonic mega collection you can play the game on wii ps3 or xbox360 since games from the previous generation can play on their respective next generation consoles.

  • Yes that's why I said except on emulators.

  • You do have a point there, but the PS3 lacks PS2 support (or can you download them like PS1 and DC?), and Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection/PSN doesn't meet the criteria (no S3K). I did play Sonic 3K on a Wii via Homebrewing, but it's not legitimate. Xbox360 might need a patch, I don't know, but I think it could. For Wii, I guess the SMC GC disk can count. I can't wait for the DS version!

  • Apparently the first PS3s had full support for PS1 and PS2 games. That's where the Wii is good, it has full support for Gamecube games and controllers.

  • love the video.. I use to play my sega as a kid to..

  • i think this is the first time you've shown your face in a video. you look nothing like how you sound.

the master system competed with the NES? i thought the Genesis was the first Sega system. since genesis means beginning, that is logical. i thought the master system competed with the 64. and i thought it was better, quality wise. and i thought the game gear came out between the 2 and competed with game boy color. thanks for straightening that out, i guess.

  • @Homsarstrongbad150 No he showed his face befor and alot of people thought his voice dosent belong to him for some reason...

  • y'know, it helps me to know that you replied if you click "reply" rather than saying "@Homsarstrongbad150" as if we were on twitter. :|

  • I've shown myself in 3 or 4 videos before. Sega's first games system was the Master system, their second the Mega drive which was called Genesis in America because they couldn't have the Mega drive name there. The Genesis/Mega drive went against Nintendo's SNES. Game gear actually came out when the Game boy b&w was out if I've got that right.

  • well, either way, as a handheld, the Game Gear pwns. it was colored and backlit, for the generation, backlit wasn't even something nintendo had, the downside, game gear ran on 6 double-A batteries. i know about the game gear, my cousin has one and pointed out all the awesomeness for the generation.

i didn't know anything about the master system. it helped clear that up since you called the genesis 'mega drive.'

  • That's very true it was using the batteries so quickly that was the problem but at least it was colour from the start. I forgot to mention about the Mega drive name difference but I probably will in the Mega drive video collection.

  • Why was the sound only in the right stereo for the first two games?

  • I really have no idea, it's very odd just that game was different.

  • like the mario drawing in the background lol

  • i loved the master system i had a master system 2 myself

  • Nice video, way to be with the Sega systems... funny thing is, I never seen that version of Sonic The Hedgehog... speaking of, I noticed the Mario drawing, who drew it, cause I like it xD

  • My sister Chelsey.

  • before now, i never knew the master system had those either. i've seen the same ones on the game gear though.

i like the genesis remakes of sonic 1 and 2 way better. the older ones sucked. i've played the game gear versions on sonic gems collection for the nintendo GC. even for the 8-bit generation, its not that good. i'd probably only play them again for histrorical purposes.

  • Don't forget that the Master System/Game Gear ones were based on the Genesis games rather than the Genesis ones being remakes.

  • wait, so you're saying games that were released in 1991 had versions of them available in the NES's era? they must've not been made too far apart in time.

  • No. The Sonic games were first on Mega drive/Genesis and then after that they did versions for the Master system and Game gear. I guess some people still had a Master system even while the Mega drive/Genesis was available.

  • well, that makes sense, sometimes people have the old system and want the new games. they do that a lot, the biggest example i can think of being twilight princess.

  • And don't forget the PS2, plenty of people still have it and there have been recent games for it.

  • yes, yes, we have a PS2 here and use that a lot, we got guitar hero 4 a year ago. i'm assuming that world tour counts as 4, because 5 was released with no blatant 4. but still, that, too, forgot about that because i usually play nintendo systems.

  • That's good to hear. There are still quite a few PS2 games I want to get.

  • Good video!! :-)

  • How much are these roughly James?

Thanks. Love the videos! Keep up the great work!!

  • You can get them quite cheap; the Master Gear converter I got most recently wasn't much. And thanks.

  • Cool. I might buy one! Thanks again James!
