  • theneedledrop brought me here

  • This is art. Maybe acid jazz. I don't even put this in the rap genre; that would insult this song. Very beautiful song.

  • Well for those that enjoy this as much as I do, Please lets not forget Roy Ayes in this :) just saying,

  • I'm trying my best to get this more views than other versions of this song by listening at least once a day.

  • i love that melody so much...

  • Myka 9 is a real artist......

  • that moment in December of 1993 when I was 18 years old and on my own. It amazes me how a song can do that----take you back to places and remembering what you did.

  • a park near (what I recall) a Greyhound Bus Station. I remember seeing people sitting there, cold, waiting for the city bus to pick them up, or just lying on the other benches or some part of a flat surface. For about a good, Idk how long of a walk I took, I listened to the entire album, but it was mostly "Park Bench People" that I played the most as I took my walk and admiring downtown San Antonio. I'd like to go back and revisit San Antonio on a December and play that same song, just to relive

  • December 1993. I bought this album a week after finishing basic training for the USAF. One day on a weekend I took a city bus and went to a mall in downtown San Antonio, Tx to buy a few things and this track played on my CD Walkman (anybody remember those?) It was somewhat cold and the streets were wet from a previous light rain drizzle. Instead of going to the mall I took a stroll downtown and looked all around as I relistened to "Park Bench People". I got to this part of downtown that was like

  • Earth shattering snaps of white widow n chilling out

  • Aww, man I forgot how artistic this song is!! People slept on Freestyle Fellowship, even folks from L,A. This song reminds me when real hip hop still exist, want to go back......

  • I can play any track on this album and still get some new inspiration and reflection of hiphop and how most are fake and don't care about hip hop like FF. Back then. Respect!

  • I grew up on this type of hip hop vibe....rappers forget about creative freedom today and just focus on stacks...money is whats up, but there does not seem to be any room for artistic expression. Just the same old fake ass hustler shit.

  • 5 *

  • never gets old, i never get tired of this track at all....

  • ive been jammn this shit here for year and years

  • God bless you for posting this.. a classic gem..

  • FF is truly loved by true hiphop heads.I remember at RockTheBells in San Berdoo,CA when LivingLegends was headlining&during the opening acts some LivingLegends members were mingling in the crowd outside&were right next to me&my homie DirkDuce&his boy Penuckle(Penuckle is friends with them)talking about that special vibe of the early to mid90's hiphop&they kept sayin how wonderful FF was&that they missed it(me too).Later Penuckle got me&Dirk backstage to blow some serious TREES.Good times.

  • rap is like wine, the older the better.

  • I prefer the version from Jose James!

  • @MultiGemini666

Jose is my man .. I am glad he covered our composition . He also recorded this song with a whole Orchestra over in London .. However , even he knows he can't come close to the OG version .

    But thank you anyway.

    Peace

    JMD of the EQB

  • @jammmessenger

I heard "Park Bench People" from Jose in 2008 on Jazz Radio Lyon for the first time and i was fascinated! I love this song so much and listen very, very often to it. It´s one of my favourite tunes! He did a really, really great job.

    Thank you for nice reply!

  • ...unexplainable! The feelings and memories this track conjures...This album needs to be brought to the attention of the young heads that swear they know what hip-hop is all about...

  • used to make me cry...

  • Lemert park!

  • this is smooth, like more than 15 years ago

  • how is this not overrated. this shoulda been the face of hip hop at this time not dre and snoop

  • smooth instrumental.

  • haha diggin' the in shoeboxes...big props wwwdotluke. keep it real

  • Great song!

I actually like the Jose James cover, it's loungier.

  • CLASSIC !!!!!!

  • real music player.. God bless the FF!!!!

  • Thank you all for your nice comments .. I think Jose did a fine job on this song as well.

He did a version with a orchestra that was incredible.

    Blessings

    JMD

Co writer and producer of this song.

  • Mindblowing track. Intelligent Hiphop and Jazz = Eargasm

  • ONLY 9,000 people know about this song? That is a fuckin shame! My brother loved this song, he introduced this to me in 94. On our way to GOOD LIFE, that's the first time I saw FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP. This song was on REPEAT the whole night and we ripped the whole time, until we saw them freestyle for real. It was and still is one of the best nights of my life.

  • This song is a masterpiece.

  • diggin in the shoeboxes. har har har! this track is so classic!!!

  • I love this but Jose James murdered this track his version was classic

  • Define classic. Jose James covered this track almost 2 decades after an underground west coast hip hop group created it. This is not a jazz group and yet classic enough for a modern jazz artist to bring it back.

  • @namkooc

try the live version of Jose James and Soil & Pimp Sessions, that was incredible!

still, nothing compares to the original...

  • his version was TRASH compared to this

  • was far from trash the original is the best version ever but joses version was still dope

  • whats up with this track?! sick. the vibes put it together for me. is this a sample?

  • No samples here...JMD (Jamm Messenger Divine) and the Underground Railroad.

  • @ratm1211 you came up with the compisition..everything is original on this track?....if so...well done..some of the best sounds ive ever heard

  • Im just a fan. JMD is on youtube under the name "jammmessenger" if you want to shoot him amessage.

  • Unbelievable song by these guys. I love the Freestyle fellowship, Myka 9, Aceyalone, its cool to see even Emcees change over time, and your right computerblue1, i think these guys definitely had influence on The Roots, and i have even read articles in Rolling Stones, they say that Aceyalone had a bit of an influence on Eminem, but not taking any light away myka 9, the guys is awesome, hip hop, REAL hip hop, intelligent rap, intelletucal rap, innovative, using your mind!!! keep REAL Rap

  • actually ur wrong buddy aceyalone and mikah 9 been around since the late 80's they had there own style

  • Freestyle Fellowship has had more of an impact on many hip hop artists than you would think...

  • I wonder if these guys had a major influence on The Roots.

  • is that supposed to be a joke?

  • this beat is lovely

  • such a beautiful song.

  • Dedicated to all my homeless folks.

  • i like mikah 9 when does he's jazzy style like in park bench people, innercity boundaries, sand to beach

  • I feel like i'm 18 again... what a song. what an album. i want to go to back to 93. and hang with tribe, souls, pharcyde and FF. i'll never come back.

    i hope there's a renaissance...

  • I feel you, man. I was way younger back then than you but I can only admire my excellent taste in music even back then! haha.. but this is one of the greatest records I own. Paid big bucks for the original US pressing but worth every penny.

  • Took the words out of my mouth.

  • same here lol. classic shit

  • @mp1976jas i'm right there wit you

  • XACTLY. . .I FEEL U. . . .

  • EVERYONE should check out Jose James version it's amazing

  • This is a nice mellow track to put on repeat @ the crib if you want to kick back.

  • watta DOPE song i CANNOT believe how a song as good as this doesn't get no radio play i kno its out of date an shit but there r songs like this that have been released recently but they get no air play instead we opt for ppl like Souljah Boy

instead we opt for ppl like Flo Rida

instead we opt for ppl like Mims

Ice-T said it if there is going to be a war its gonna b Tru Hip Hop vs Wack Hip Hop and i kno which side i'm on

  • @youssef11223344 lol and we both know what side ice-t will fall on hahaha whack ass piece of shit

  • Cant wait till Hip Hop revives itself and sounds like this again.

  • A true classic...my my the 1990's were so beautiful. Heath Brothers Interpolation. Fantastic!!!

    G-Phenom

  • PEOPLE NEED TO LEAVE THIS SONG AS IT IS.

  • i think i know the b-llsh-t cover version you have in mind!

  • @wwwdotluke naw, bro.. you gotta give props where its due.. without a doubt i prefer myka's voice. but jose james version was tight..

  • @fighterdude83 it sucked

  • @ConiferTreez not as much as your mom at sucking cock

  • @fighterdude83 it still sucked, dude aint got shit on Mikah
