WILSON PICKETT did a good job on this of being the originator but I think Johnnie Taylor really brought out the song more as far as promoting it and with his voice..But u gotta take into consideration that Wilson Pickett recorded this song in 1967 so the quality of the music with the mixing and mastering wasn't offered back then but Johnnie did do his thing.. O yeah i'm only 25 and i'm from Alabama so I grew up off this type of music

It's on the album In the Midnight Hour, but was recorded earlier than the rest of the songs on it. Very different interpretation, as they had such different styles. Both are great and we miss them as they rest in eternal peace. This music is in your soul, and hearing it makes us know we got a heart on fire, or sometimes just a flame glowing serenely. Either way, it's all great.

Matter of fact the collection of his past due child support payments were the source of the down payment on my first house and a new car! And yes, I found a love! WILSON PICKETT did a good job on this of being the originator but I think Johnnie Taylor really brought out the song more as far as promoting it and with his voice..But u gotta take into consideration that Wilson Pickett recorded this song in 1967 so the quality of the music with the mixing and mastering wasn't offered back then but Johnnie did do his thing.. O yeah i'm only 25 and i'm from Alabama so I grew up off this type of music

@nicodagger Maybe, but please hear the late great Wilson Pickett sing this song when he was with the Falcons. It's on the album In the Midnight Hour, but was recorded earlier than the rest of the songs on it. Very different interpretation, as they had such different styles. Both are great and we miss them as they rest in eternal peace. This music is in your soul, and hearing it makes us know we got a heart on fire, or sometimes just a flame glowing serenely. Either way, it's all great.
