it;s hard for a small size person to do the leg lock break VS taller ppl that have long leg . do u sugest something like keep close distance and try focus more on the uper offence?
@vinkid911 If they have GI pant on you can climb your hands higher up their hips (more onto their thighs) and arch ur back from there. But maintain posture.
Are you serious???????????? The guy on bottom does not know how to do a basic head and arm triangle??? Then his triangle choke is fucked up as well!! WOW
You said that being in someone's guard is not a good position in which to be even when striking is involved... On the contrary, it is always better to be on the top when striking is involved. It's far more difficult to submit someone when they are punching you in the face than it is to simply punch someone in the face.
yes, but its gonna be hard to punch them in the face when they control your posture, and as soon as you lift your hands up to punch, there's so many openings for sweeps and submissions. I'm not saying that you can't KO someone from in their guard, but its not an easy task.
Yes, but not in the guard, unless this is a free for all fight where you just destroy his testicles. But it's better to be mounted on top to drop blows, then to be in the guard.
@anonymousbecause LOL Yeah I suppose the past ten years of training I did was a complete waste of time and I don't understand anything on the subject (insert sarcasm here)....I did say I liked the video which was an OPINION and complement to the author. FINALLY if I am guilty of having nothing relevant to say then are we not guilty of the same thing? check yo self.
@DrGreenThumbs1 I'm not knocking that you haven't had training you are the one saying it to other people stating "arm chair warriors," so perhaps you should check your self :D.
When your student transitions from triangle choke to armbar, tell him that after throwing the leg over your head, his other foot should toss over the other to finish it up, knees in as always. That adds to the pressure against the elbow when he starts to put his hips into it. But remember to ease into it, because an armbar from that position takes much less pressure to snap the elbow.
the pass is in part 2, this series is primarily for chinese boxers which is why i have to spend the first 8 mins explaining the in's and out's of the closed guard first before the actual pass, since most don't have any grappling experience. take care and peace!
yea, i understand, big guys (around the gut) can be a challenge in his guard. when you posture just take both elbows and bring them inside his thighs, use your elbows to create space and open his guard, this will allow you to "pop" up to your feet as if you are jumping on a surfboard allowing you back out and get to your feet.
This was really intersting. I practice bjj and wrestling. You seem to have a pretty good basic knowledge. It's nice to see a standup instructer who respects the abilities of a grappler.
yep good again. i reckon your students are lucky to train with you. great understanding of wing chun and from a non ground person it sounds like you understand your stuff. awesome.
im trying to impress on my students its all about structure and intent.
it's Jin, and yes, as long as they rely on the "structure and principles" instead of trying to use brute force. i know this for a fact because there are women and teenagers that i have grappled who are 40 pounds lighter than me who give me tons of problems. good question!
i dont see why mount is so bad just bridge trap his elbow your out of it.

Does traditional wing chun teach anti-grappling?

i can't speak for everyone, but i can tell you that Hawkins Cheung and Gary Lam both teach anti grappling methods.

also remember that the focus of this video is how to get out of someone's closed guard, without relying on muscle to escape.
once you posture and open his guard, you can always stand back up to your feet.
