  • 0:37 why are we all on native american land?

  • wow at the email.. :L that bitch better get a personal body guard :L

  • i dont understand this is fuckin 2011 guys

  • Honestly? That movie was an abortion. I'm GLAD asian people weren't associated with that epic of a FAIL..

  • Whites came and invaded the native americans

  • I think that it was a terrible movie and the casting was HORRIBLE! But I don't think it was racist. Everyone -3's Zuko... So being Indian isn't automatically bad. I think that the main problem is that they should have stuck with the general image of what race they resemble in the series.

  • @kwakai But you're talking only about the United States. Which is inevitable I understand. I just feel like racism isn't that important right now. There's so many other worldly matters that deserve far more attention than this one movie, that no one really watched anyways cus it sucked. At least when you make a fight about racism, use something that everyone can relate to. How many Asian jobs were taken away from this movie? Like, 10? Why do you guys care so much? It's a pointless fight.

  • @kwakai By the way, it seems as if this is a fight against white people than a fight for equality. Fucking dumbasses. Nobody wants people like you to represent the entire race.

  • @kwakai AGAIN, I'm not white, I'm Asian. It's funny watching ignorant people brush off someone's identity. I agree racism IS a big deal, but using Avatar is a sucky way of getting the idea across. Besides, most of these people aren't driven by racism, they're driven by the fact that their favorite character is white in the movie when their ideals had him as being Asian. Does race REALLY matter that much to you? Either way, the movie sucked.

  • the movie ruined it but the series is my favorite show of all time

  • Do we need this video? yes, do you know why? because there's some of you are actually supporters but failed miserably in discussing this issue with others. Most of you will just walk up and say"THAT IS COMPLETE RACIST B***S***" with nothing to backup and you're fucked up within your own opinion.

  • @KahrylBlack Then why are you here? You're one of those people than don't care whats happening in this corrupted, dying world and only react when its all happening to yourself and its too late.

  • do we really need a video on how to talk about it? this is dumb.

  • I noticed there was a short clip where Tycho from penny arcade made an appearance. Was he talking about the racedbending issue? Where can I see the whole clip?

  • Well, guys, the boycott wasn't very successful. Paramount made heaps. Now time to focus your time and energy on something a little less anti-white. jk jk. XD

  • LOL I can't believe there's a whole series on how to talk about the Avatar movie?

What is there to talk about? It sucks.

People who don't care about the race casting think it sucks.

People who do care about the race casting think it sucks.

The only people still talking about Avatar are those too race-obsessed to notice that it's a complete stupid flop. Go away, race-obsessed people.

  • @KahrylBlack What do you mean by race-obsessed? At what point does being aware of race and its relationship with society's treatment and views of people of color become, as you say it, obsession?

A bad movie is a bad movie, but a bad, *racist* movie has larger implications than a studio's bad financial decisions.

  • @thephieffect At what point does racial awareness become an obsession? Well that's hard to pin down exactly. But if you make a 4-part Youtube series on how to properly talk about the racial issues of a movie that has 6% on RottonTomatoes.. you are definitely obsessed :)

  • @KahrylBlack I disagree. If a movie that makes as many racial gaffes as this has made it all the way through years of production and development, then Hollywood clearly didn't care about the movie's implications, painfully obvious as they may be. It's a symptom of society's view of people of color and race that such a movie was deemed okay to be released.

This video was also made *before* the movie was released and reviewed, so your point about its failure in critic circles is moot.

  • @KahrylBlack OBJECTION!

    the movie sucks.

    the show is flippin amazing!

  • To that white guy:

You punk! We are here??? Why r u here? U fucking stole the land from the native americans! and to answer your questions....WE ARE HERE BECAUSE YOUR PEOPLE FUCKED ALL THE HMONG PEOPLE OVER! FUCKERS!

  • @hmoob1234567 i wouldn't say the Americans fucked the hmong people over...hmong people are here because they deserve to be here...if history didn't happen the way it did...the Hmong wouldn't be in America...but yes...fuck that white guy...

  • I really appreciated you guys putting this together. But ummmm why 5 parts?

I didn't watch the movie, have no intention of watching the movie and from what I hear I'm not sacrificing much for my principles. HAHA.

  • @VibrancySF This movie made a LOT of racial and cultural gaffes, more than just the Whitewashing and cultural appropriation. There's also a lot of evidence, some from Hollywood history, even, to support the veracity of all of these claims. The 5 part video covers some of the basic gaffes.

  • OK, apparently that white guy doesn't understand the ironic bigotry that he uses himself.

@starwarsfleet Are you talking about India Indian or Tribal Indian because they are very different things.

  • Sokka isn't Asian he is Indian idiots!!!!

  • @starwarsfleet Regardless, he's not White. Which Rathbone is.

  • @starwarsfleet LOL Actually Asian is Indian. Indian is Asian...specifically...South Asian. But that is still Asian and is in the Asian continent. Avatar is based on East Asian and Inuit culture, not specifically Indian South Asian culture. Different types of Asian from China to Korea to the Philippines to India are all different cultures but we still are all Asian.

  • I seriously doubt boycotting will stop the profits. The film is still going on strong and 5000 people boycotting will only be less than 200,000 dollars

  • @215Ravenous Regardless, the movie is hardly the summer tentpole that Paramount expected it to be.

  • @215Ravenous That's what frightens me. You still have your casual moviegoer, who has no knowledge of the series, and is only going on advertisments. What do you tell such a person? I find myself running into people like this all the time.

  • Whoaw, the comment at 0:23 was just mean. What's up with people always making remarks about what the Chinese eat? The Indians also can't believe that we eat cows. It's really a cultural thing, there's no reason why they should express such repulsion for the Chinese and make derogatory statements. It's nice that you racebenders hid his name though, he'd be getting a LOT of hate mail otherwise. Anyway, i'd have liked a brown skinned Katara/Sokka (without a tan) and such...too bad.

  • @coccinelsucrer Though, let's look at the bright side of things. The movie is said to have been a pure failure (haven't seen it), if Eastern Asians really had been cast, people would have used the failure as a proof that minorities can't carry a movie (instead of blaming Night). So yeah, now it's a failure that "even Whites" couldn't save. In case this comforts anyone =P.

  • why are people complaining?? the show was made by american people lol

  • @Freax91 So by your logic women can't write novels about male characters.

This is hardly a solid argument attesting to the illegitimacy of Racebending's claims.

  • @Freax91 I also just realized that you're insinuating that Americans are only White. Um, no.

  • @thephieffect true that lol. my bad =p

  • @Freax91 but its about asians. did those white actors write the show? is this movie about the writers of the show? NO!!! so stop acting like an ignorant fucktard and get with the program

  • @ZzIAmNOTLegendzZ Of course you dumb fuck. They were paid to played the person from the anime show but where did I say they wrote the story? Where? Thats what I thought you idiot. What program? Oh, wait the one where people like you are bitching cuz they say the movie is racist? Next time get your facts straight before saying something stupid. Btw it was made by an America who happens to be white but wrote it about the asian culture. Have a nice day idiot.

  • @ZzIAmNOTLegendzZ The only think i agree is that they should of used asians.

  • Saw this movie with my nephews this week and we loved it!

  • @FluffyFeralMarmot if u didnt see the show U DONT MATTER

  • This movie was crap. Pure crap. Its the exact same thing as the dbz movie. I think the entire race thing is a complete joke, just like this movie.

  • I'm not trying to be racist or start an argument, but why couldn't they just animate it. Just to stay away from race bending.

  • The racebenders are probably pissed that Bobby Lee didn't get the part of Aang.

  • A YouTube user by the name of Sidepocket2600, who I believe used to be affiliated with your group, made fun of a 7 year old boy just because he saw The Last Airbender, and liked it.

  • @BoukenCrimson racebenders are racist in their own way. Pay no attenton to those rude bastards.

  • @BoukenCrimson good for Sidepocket2600. that 7yr old little bastard needed his feelings broke for liking that shit

  • Although, I must say that the guy at 0:35 is a total jerk.

  • Ironic that the casting on the McD's commercials seems preferable to the casting on the actual movie! I think, honestly, they should have cast the rolls to people of diverse backgrounds- not necessarily all native american and asian, but most definitely just light skinned actors!

  • @NicolaMonk It should have been "not just light skinned characters", please don't flame me.

  • Can anyone imagine Lord of the Rings. . . with the setting of Middle-Earth based on Germanic/English history, mythology, and culture. . . .

And all of the main cast characters were African American?

    Denzel Washington as Frodo.

    Halle Berry as Eowyn.

    Beyonce as Arwen.

And, of course, Morgan Freeman as Gandalf. . . .

    People would freak out.

  • @Likety You are so right. Thanks for making that comparison.

  • @Likety

That's a very good comparison. It would be odd to try to produce LoTR that way unless it was purposefully meant to be an alternate version.

  • @Likety Agreed, although I can strangely see Morgan Freeman as Gandalf. XD

  • @Likety i would watch it. if i got morgan freeman as gandalf it would be pretty badass

  • @Likety with Legolas portrayed by none other than Samuel L. Jackson.

    ...

Shoot, I'd pay to see that movie.

  • @Likety I know your comment is a year old but i would just love to see Denzel Washington play Frodo xD

  • lol, love the instructions...it's like the steward on the airplane telling people how to remain calm in the event of an emergency (well, this technically is an emergency to some, so it's good that you're doing this) ^_^

  • It's a director's choice who he casts, its his visualization of the world. If you think you can do a better job, your more than welcome to become an acclaimed director and do it yourself. Opinions are like A**holes everyone has one.

  • @JapanAnimeSuki Lol his vision sucked and you know it. The casting was only a minor flaw when comparing it to the rest of the movie.

  • I think the Avatar community should now focus on calling for a "re-do"

RE-DO! *clap clap* RE-DO! *clap clap*

  • @Whitedevil222

Unfortunately there isn't hope for a redo. We had one chance at this and Shyamalan blew it.

  • white people don't deserve to play heros. It doesn't even make any sense you put all

the white people as heros and all the colored people as villians. In the cartoon the war tribes are colored and you replaced with white actors. Nice to live in a world where god would chose white people over colored.

  • @ashavashav did you really read what you said? That makes you just as racist as anyone.

  • @chuj00 I lol'd

  • @ashavashav Wow, you are a racist.

  • Comment removed

  • You don't have to worry anymore. This film is getting TRASHED by critics. It will BOMB. I think this is happening in part because people are aware of the whitewashing.

I'm white by the way. I still can't believe how foolish the filmmakers were/are

  • @beerbeastredux

It had nothing to do with the casting. This is just a horrible movie with a horrible script. The same thing would have happened with an all Asian cast. Shyamalan just can't make good movies anymore.

  • @djgcorporation the fucking irony in your posts, i love it. on the second highest rated comment on this video, you say "stop focusing on race." then why must you run up to a white guy, and also point out it was a white guy? now that's racist. why couln't you run up to an asian, or an african, or some other race, with a group of people and a camera in the person face, and ask them racist question? now please, shut the fuck up.

  • @Cann3dW0rmz you stfu dumbie,your rascist

  • @djgcorporation maybe because you ran up to arandom guys, with a camera held up to his face, with a group of friends, already implying he was racist because he was white? quite frankly, i see that as racist. and i would tell you to **** off if someone ran up to me with camera in my face saying i was racist.

  • Comment removed

  • @XxShannaro14xX actually everyone should be treated right, have we forgotten Martin Luther King?

  • @XxShannaro14xX just STFU u ignorant fuck

  • you guys are just as "racist" as the producers supposedly are.

you dont even know what racism means.

and this probably great film is coming up. and all you focus on is race

when will people like you start caring about other things than race. and stop being such hypocrites

  • @PositivelyAlice ur probably white so this must offend you. well.....NOW YOU KNOW HOW THE FUCK PEOPLE OF COLOR FEEL EVERY TIME THIS SHIT HAPPENS. SO JUST SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT LIKE HOW WE HAD TO. ignorant white-wash fucker

  • @ZzIAmNOTLegendzZ are you kidding me?

"ur probably white" no, actually, I'm an oriental asian and proud to be one. and i am also human.

i don't understand, even if i WAS white, how watching this video would make me feel like someone colored that goes through "THIS SHIT"

"SO JUST SUCK IT UP AND DEAL WITH IT" really? why don't people like you just "suck it up and deal with it" and not make stupid sites and videos like these?

  • @ZzIAmNOTLegendzZ "like how we had to" i don't see where you think you can represent the entire colored community, and by colored i guess you're meaning everyone that isn't white.

i may be ignorant, everyone is, i respect the fact that you're trying to advance on something you believe in, but the way you take it out on people is just stupid.

but yea, id like Aang to be Chinese just as much as any avatar fan, but boohoo, and i got over it, and went back to watching the series.

  • Please tell me what isn't racist?

Or how it could make it not racist?

Obviously if they made The Air and water nation asian and Fire Black/Indian and Earth Caucasion it would still be racist

I mean if the nations would have to have a difinitive color...

There is no way when you think about it to make it not racist without taking out the logic factor

  • @TheVecan theyre all asian...not white...not black.... not indian(exept for guru pathic)

  • Why shouldn't paramount profit? They are taking their own resources to produce a film where they will generate revenue from people voluntarily paying to see the film. This is the United States, not the Soviet Union, you are free to not watch the film, but they are also free to make a profit.

  • I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

    - Martin Luther King, Jr.

  • @MrMusicPlaya bravo! bravo! at least some people remember him.

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN CARTOONS TO PLAY THE CHARACTERS.

This film is Dimensionist if you ask me.

  • In the end, all this won't matter because Hollywood will get their money. So, all you Asians just get down with the Ice!

  • To some people who are calling me racist: anti-racebenders aren't mad you're white; we're mad that this casting issue reflects the racial hierarchy that continues to shape the US identity (unfortunately) . Looking at the big picture, 4 out of 5 lead male roles will go to white men. This leaves 1 of 5 roles available to black, asian, native american, middle eastern men. Nonwhite people make up more than 1/3 of the US population. They've constantly been denied nonwhite positive rolemodels.

  • @darlamaria10 Enough of this super literate grammar. Are you down with the Ice?

  • @VanillaIceBestRapper It's called intelligence. If people are free to be mudslinging morons on the internet, I can type with "super literate grammar."

  • @darlamaria10 Whoa whoa....so defensive! I like that! So, are you down with the Ice?

  • @VanillaIceBestRapper Sorry. I'm just mad that people continue to wave around their white privilege whenever confronted. And no, I'm not down with the Ice.

  • @darlamaria10 Ice Ice Baby!

  • The person to play an Asian character is an Asian actor. Why? Persons belonging to this group that have been systematically marginalized in society, should have opportunities targeted to them to allow for the development of their full potential which would be restricted by said marginalization. These special efforts not because they're Asian, per se, but because being nonwhite has meant something in the US, and still means something, in terms of one's access to full and equal opportunity.

  • no honestly this casting is fail....I was upset as well, I dont give a shit about white or brown or black , However why couldnt they just stick to the programme!!! and yes the fire nation = White and they are considered evil , WHY???

Look up the history - White people colonised a lot of countries in the past. Same thing with fire nation. Where do you think the people got these ideas from ;p facts etc.

BTW I heard Avatar was made by mexicans? written script? Is that true cuz Im not sure...

  • @djoenie actually i think one of the writers were mexican but it seems like this whole thing is now made for hating white people than the movie.

  • Oh and in "Asia" (and let me tell you, there are "American Asians") why do they adapt American movies with "Asian" actors?

  • You've got a lot of growing up to do girl. By your comparison, 'Prince of Persia' is just as rediculous.

Asia isn't just Japan and China. Countries ADAPT movies to suit the majority. Go to "ASIA" and make the movie yourself to suit "Asian" audiences (where most of the fan base is anyway). Your view is weak and undermined with depressed thought. I encourage everyone to not pay attention.

If you're calling yourself Asian American, perhaps you should figure out what that means.

  • @djgcorporation What's wrong with my comment? At which point did I specify that Asia is comprised only of China and Japan. The characters in the show were meant to be asian; there isn't a single aspect of this show rooted in any white European culture. Contrary to what you believe, white people are not raceless. The identity of the US is defined by its immigrants; mainstream multiculturalism is important to ensure that EVERYONE is adequately represented. White people are overrepresented. Grow up

  • Comment removed

  • The best person to play an asian character will always be an asian actor.

  • Comment removed

  • @djgcorporation Stop drawing false parallels. Whites hold over 90% of all the management level jobs in the US and hold 90% of tenured faculty positions on college campuses. The receive about 94% of government contract dollars; the remaining 6% of nonwhites are overqualified for their positions (means they need to work harder for the same things). These are facts; look them up. Educate yourself on your privilege because you clearly have no idea what it is and how it works.

  • @djgcorporation Despite affirmative action programs, whites are more likely than members of any nonwhite group to be admitted to their college of first choice. White men with only a high school diploma are more likely to have a job than black and Latino men with college degrees. Even with a criminal record, white men are more likely than black men without one to receive a call back for a job interview, even when all their credentials are the same. Part of privilege ignorance. Try reading.

  • Blah blah blah! Racism and casting people portraying different Races... Micheal Clark Duncan as Kingpin, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury & The Octopus... And stuff like that... People should have boycotted Daredevil, Iron Man & The Spirit... Everyone who supports RaceBending is a racist. Thank you!

  • @NightStalker915 Nice try. Not the same thing. White people are overrepresented in mass media. White actors aren't delegated inconsequential roles the same way nonwhite actors are. Heroes are only white. All racebending is a result of upper white executives. Asians can't even get roles written specifically for them.Kingpin wasn't race specific (as in, his character isn't influenced by being white or not; still villain role). WTF general nick fury was fashioned after samuel l jackson.

  • @NightStalker915 spoken from a true friend. These racebenders are more racist than what they are trying to fight.

  • @215Ravenous i dunno if racebenders can be considered racists. in terms of the last airbender film they are just ignorant imo. they see the trailers, they look at the cartoon and think "thats not right, that not how it should look". i dunno about others but i actually try to find any info i can find on this film. i read what m.night, marshall, the original creators, the actors say. in terms what m.night says its easy to see why hes made it represent the world.

  • @eddh141 yeh your right there more judgers than racists

  • I heard a little Asian boy was set to play an earth bender? Probably not Haru, since the age difference. At least half of the nations are now racially diverse? Let's hope Toph turns out Asian, as her name clearly says she is, and the rest of the Earth Nation.

  • "They are people of color, they are people of color" What people of color are they because I have no clue! the only "People of color" I have see with blue eyes are whites with tans. I dont get it!

  • @tkbadgirl Eye color is denoted by the type of bending the tribe does; it has nothing to do with real world ethnicity. Did it ever occur to you that the color brown IS the color the skin (NOT a tan). White people are not a default. These characters are not raceless. This series has nothing to do with white people. It is based on Asian architecture, Asian culture, Asian modes of living, everything is Asian. There isn't a single aspect that belongs to any type of white culture.

  • I think we should all just focus on the acting and the actual movie, instead of throwing tantrums about the race.

  • @SydneyLikesSocks completely agree..........but you know conspiracists.

  • @SydneyLikesSocks White people are overrepresented. White people constantly deny positive nonwhite rolemodels. White people constantly devalue nonwhite opinions. White people model the definition of diversity after themselves. White people (as a dominant group) dictate the place of minority groups. I'm not mad at white people for being white; I'm mad because white pro casters have no respect for any other group of peole except their own.

  • i want to shit kick the guy who said "throw it back on u guys. why are u in the united states." WTF. united states was taken from the natives by Europeans. Natives have asian heritage. Thus, with logic putting one plus one together, asians have more of a right to be in the united states than that fcuker.

  • Asians and Caucasians have similar genetic blood ties what with Haplogroup R1a1 linking Central and Southern Asia with Europe and that's you fellows sharing the same landmass. The Americas were cut off for thousands of years so... No. You have no more right to be in the States than any other immigrant group. BTW that's non-Asian Native heritage, thank you very much.

  • so if the movie was created the way you guys say as in earth benders are asian, water is inuite, air (aang) is asian, and white is fire wouldn't that be racist against white people because everyone in the fire nation is precevied as bad.

  • @BigBis1337 The Fire Nation is not White. How does Caucasian exist when it is an Asian fantasy?

  • @KimKimJun so that means everyone has to be asian true fire nation isn't white i don't know why i put that, but if it would be up to racebenders everyone would be asian and no diversity whats so ever.

  • @BigBis1337 So you are telling me the show wasn't diverse? Do you know how diversity is within Asia?

"if it would be up to racebenders everyone would be asian and no diversity whats so ever."---that is a very said comment. Everyone does not have to be Asian but this is a Asian story with Asian chracters. At the least, the main should have one East Asian actor. How is 3 out of the main are White?

  • @KimKimJun yeah but i looked at Racebenders website and they have a drawing of all the characters with much more Asian characteristics, so i assumed that that's the way that they wanted the characters to look in the movie, so I'm sorry if that isn't what they were trying to say but that's the message i got, and how is stating the lack of diversity in a movie sad, isn't that what Racebenders are doing too?

  • @BigBis1337 Those drawing were drawn by the creators. Go look in the artbook you will see Asian characteristics. Asia is already diverse in it self. The show does not need diversity. There are many different ethincities and cultures in Asia, 60+ different cultures in China alone. The show did a very good job at displaying many different aspects of Asia that many veiwers didn't know including me. You are saying if all Asians were cast, there will be no diversity...that is sad.

  • @KimKimJun there would be diversity but still not as much diversity as how the film looks now. asia is only one part of the world. and in the show whilst it did show diversity in the drawings it doesnt actually state which ethnicity each nation is. zuko never said for example "im the chinese fire nation prince. the show is based on ethnicites and culture from "our" world but in the show the only cultures and nationalities that exist are water, earth, fire and air.

  • @eddh141 "asia is only one part of the world" And that is EXACTLY how the creators wanted it to be..Just Asia. It is just you who son't see the different ethincities and cultural influences. Please don't speak for everyone else. People like you have to be told, this character is Asian in order for you to believe they are Asian. Many do not.

  • @KimKimJun and yet the creators helped shyamalan make this movie. approving the casting among other things. i see the cultural differences between each nation but in the world of cartoon and tv. yeah they actually have to state their nationality. which they did in the cartoon, zuko stated he was the fire nation prince many times. the show is heavily based on east asian culture. oh for people like me can you please state why the war happened? ill help you out and rule out one reason...ethnicity.

  • @eddh141 ...What? So to bust your bubble but the creators have no creatoive power whatsoever when it comes to the movie. In fact on Bryan's myspace page, he said he had nothing to do with the casting whatsoever.'i see the cultural differences between each nation but in the world of cartoon and tv." That doesn't make sense because the cultures in the show are real."zuko stated he was the fire nation prince many times."And Prince William is the Prince of Wales. What is your point.

  • @eddh141 "oh for people like me can you please state why the war happened? ill help you out and rule out one reason...ethnicity."What?!! The reason why Sozin started the war is because he is Tyrant. He wanted to rule world. It had nothing to do with ethnicity so why bring it up?

  • @KimKimJun ok you clearly didnt understand what i was trying to say. the war happened because it was a bending war. sozin, azulon and ozai and many of their nation believed that fire bending was the best. and yeah sozin wanted to rule to world. my point being that within the show it didnt matter what the facial features of a character looked like. if they were from whatever nation then they supported that nation. one way the show this is by type of clothing.

  • @eddh141 What does that have to do with the poorly choosen cast? Your post does not make sense. In Avatar everyone was on the same level or plane. Originally no nation was better than the other(before Sozin) In other words everybody look the same and they were Asian Period. How do you think the GAag was able to hide out in the Fire Nation? I wobder how that is going to wrok for the movie. Hell I am making noo sense trying to argue with you....lol

  • @KimKimJun no that makes a lot of sense.......and we will have to see how m.night deals with that come the 3rd movie. the point im trying to make is why is it racist? yeah i know cos he cast whites and indians in a non white and indian "world" but in the film he's cast people from all over the world. and hopefully if the 2nd film (earth) and 3rd film (fire), are made we will see more diversity. the only continent that hasnt been assigned to a nation yet in this movie is south america.

  • @eddh141 Spoken from a believer my friend. Ignore KimKimJun this movie is diverse no matter how many racebenders say otherwise. They are hopeless to reason with and it gets kinda boring to try and argue with them. Let them float in their fantasy.

  • @215Ravenous oh i know lol.....but debating/arguing is fun

  • @eddh141 The classification of multitude of groups under the single rubric Asian carries some potential dangers. Asia is NOT a monolith. Asian are culturally and experientially diverse: cultural values and beliefs, religion, primary language, personality syndromes, ethnic identity and etc.

Some Asian countries include: China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Tibet, India, Pakistan, Philippines, Vietnam, and many many others. Diversity can exist without white people; diversity is not a white stamp.

  • @darlamaria10 i didnt say asia wasnt diverse. every continent is diverse with culture. what i said was m.night decided to cast the film where anyone of any ethnicity could be cast for any role.....giving each nation an identity by casting the main characters of each nation first. this is because then the film represents the world. whats more diverse 1 part of the world or different parts of the world?

  • @eddh141 Avatar is largely inspired by circumpolar indigenous cultures, with some influences from Asian and Pacific Islander indigenous groups. Casting of this movie was clearly racist. White people are not raceless.Your defense is part of a white pattern. When you look at the large-scale data, patterns of racial preference are made evident: white people are heroes, nonwhite people are inconsequential. White people are constantly denying positive nonwhite role models. Tokenism isn't diversity.

  • @darlamaria10 put it this way, if there was 2 people of the same ethnicity auditioning for the same role lets say their ethnicity is white. the director clearly sees one of the actors is better than the other so he hires the better one. would you say that is racist? now change the ethnicities of the actors and lets give the director an ethnicity too. so the actors are asian and white the director is asian too he picks the asian because hes better. is it racist? no he may actually be better?

  • @darlamaria10 another thing is you and many others are looking at this film by itself when you should be looking at the as a trilogy. the NWT was casted as caucasians. this is the first film so of course theres gonna be more caucasians in the film. what about earth, and fire tho? earth is cast as east asian and toph jet, bumi, etc have yet to be cast. and the fire nation has azula, mai, ty lee, jeong jeong still yet to be cast. directors will always cast the better actor whatever they look like.

  • @eddh141

    yea right, FUCK YOU

  • @darlamaria10 you are a racist fuck. You just hate white people.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheAmazingPotHead remember how you thought i was white for defendin the movie. well i see you as a redneck because that is exactly how you sound. if everyone went around sterotyping people by how they sound or talk the world would be even more fucked up

  • @215Ravenous

you are defending this movie because u r a dumbass. You are oblivious to the blatant racism that is in this movie.

  • @TheAmazingPotHead all avatar fans who defend this are dumbasses then but you are the one racist

  • @TheAmazingPotHead racist

  • @215Ravenous actually they are jugeing people's voices, race, skin tone. im fed upwith this

  • @215Ravenous Contrary to what white people are taught to believe, diversity does not bear a white stamp.

  • @darlamaria10 if you are calling me white youre wrong. Im black and i dont believe this film is such a big deal. It sounds like to me you are using this film ass an excuse to bring up old racial issues and suck it to the white man. If you hate white people take it out on them but not a diverse film. I for one do not hate any race.

  • @eddh141 "yeah i know cos he cast whites and indians in a non white and indian "world" but in the film he's cast people from all over the world. "You just said it. You don't find that driscriminating at all. Asians are not able to play their own characters. Dnt talk about the other two movies because they are not here. In the show Pocs were the Heros , In the movie now they are White. How many movie are out there where the Hero was Caucasian? Do you think the Original series was Diverse?

  • @KimKimJun the quote you used was me being sarcastic. the original series was diverse in which was based on asian culture. and no i dont see it as discriminative at all. m.night is an indian so if the film was racist then every single actor would of been indian. m.night quote "he gave that identity based on the actors he got". he didnt assign a look to any nation he made this movie from a clean slate. forgetting race how do you know the actors hes hired arent better than what he didnt pick?

  • you guys need to calm down. its just a movie.

  • The only thing that's different about this movie is the color of the actor's skin. The sets, choreography, lore, and costume design are VERY much like the show. Anyone who boycotts the movie logically boycott the show because most of the voice actors are not Asians.

  • @stormtroopavk81 So the setting where Caucasian are portraying Asians is basically a faux backdrop rather than a real mystical world. Voice actors have nothing to do with it whatsoever. Darth Vader is a Caucasian man with Caucasian kids but his voice actor is the African American James Earl Jones. No problems with Star Wars fans is there?? You're saying fans should except whatever whitewashed travesty hollywood spews out, instead of being respectful to the ORIGINAL source material.

  • @boondocks43 Why are you arguing about voice actors with me? I not the one with the problem of race. Just like I don't care that Han Solo was white even though he's black in the original script. Just like I don't care that Nick Fury is black now. "Whitewashed travesty" is just proof that you're just another hysterical fan overly focused on the color of the actors' skin. Give me examples of how the movie will be unlike the source material besides the characters skin tone being a few shades off.

  • @stormtroopavk81 This is coming from the guy that said "people who are displeased with the choices of the movie are against the show." You mentioned the voice actors, not me. The issue is there. You're just deluding yourself into thinking there is no problem. I never said anything about the movie not being like the source material. Unless M Night does a half assed plot twist, than it's merely a retelling of Book 1. You're just putting words in other people's mouths.
