@talleywog my guess would be about the hurricane Katrina in the viewpoint of the victims.

@stutterchild but this album was released 5/21/1996, before Hurricane Katrina. And since it was one of her earlier albums, I would guess it was written much earlier than that.

Man, I can NEVER get enough of Matt Nathanson!!! I could listen to him till I die! lol, very good writer! Thanks for sharing the vid, it's awesome! The high notes are clearly out of his range, but Matt's got a very soft and pleasant voice. 4/5 stars.

i remember the first time i heard him cover this song on stage. i was like "wait, isn't that Patty Griffin" and then when he finished the first verse i was like OMG IT IS! and i nearly had a panic attack. i love Matt a LOT but Patty is beyond love...she is just amazing

well this is one of my FAVORITE songs by patty so i'm a pretty tough critic.lol you did well. you definitely have a voice, but maybe if you pay close attention to the lyrics you will see that there is a time for legato piano lines ;) o and you should try "top of the world" that's my favorite!
