No Skeptic has ever claimed that all UFOs are bogus. There are things that fly that are unknown. Period. However we can be reasonably certain that no extra terrestrials have visited earth during man's history simply because the evidence for it is extremely poor and can be explained by other, known phenomena. As for the pictures of the moon, try using your 60Mp camera and see if you can read a newspaper headline from 40 miles away.
Of course I am not satisfied, I want more space exploration, but wouldn't you know it? Rockets are expensive. In any event, there is no need to make up nonsense about alien or martian artifacts, much less "kilometers wide" moon bases. Just as there was a face on mars, we went back, took a better look and sure enough, its a natural formation. Id like to see all the planets mapped, but there are much bigger fish to fry in Science right now.
Where they go wrong is in discouraging science in areas that they don't personally approve of.

No Skeptic has ever claimed that all UFOs are bogus. There are things that fly that are unknown. Period. However we can be reasonably certain that no extra terrestrials have visited earth during man's history simply because the evidence for it is extremely poor and can be explained by other, known phenomena. As for the pictures of the moon, try using your 60Mp camera and see if you can read a newspaper headline from 40 miles away.

In any event, there is no need to make up nonsense about alien or martian artifacts, much less "kilometers wide" moon bases. Just as there was a face on mars, we went back, took a better look and sure enough, its a natural formation. Id like to see all the planets mapped, but there are much bigger fish to fry in Science right now.

The moon is "tidally locked", so yes it has everything to do with gravity.
However, the alien artifact mission is considered legitimate because the lunar surface is a record of everything has has interacted on the surface for billions of years.
So, high resolution images of the surface are necessary to locate any type of landing by our fellow universe inhabitants.
Earth has been reflecting blue light into the universe for a couple billion yrs.

Cite the source where it says that they are classified.The only reference I can find is some lame conspiracy website that asserts over a million pictures of the far side of the moon are "classified". In reality, 170,000 images are made available but apparently this is not enough. Obvious errors are described as being "censored" alien structures, some over a mile in height. (Somehow without casting shadows). You need to prove the conspiracy, it is not for us to disprove a non-existent cover-up.

You should care, considering that NOAA's CFI (Comprehensive Flare Index) for major flares revealed that a lot of major flares did indeed occur during the Apollo moon missions. And all you're friends like Plait here seem to agree that a major flare would have been enough to kill an astronaut.

Gamma Ray bursts which are recorded at least once every day, along with other cosmic rays, make predicting the amount of radiation impossible. So, stick that in your text book and try feeding it to someone who you can buffalo. I seem to be in the dark about this.
Yes, a brown object of what appeared to be a wood grain fell of a transparent (in the sense that glass or plastic is transparent) bottle.
Sorry, I'm going to have to say I believe that. Now as to WHY it did that, I have no explanation, but several hypotheses, one of which is that there was a reaction between two colorless gases in the bottle that raised the pressure pushing the brown object off.

Concerning Challenger, here's a list of what you have to prove to even begin:
1) The landing was faked
2) For some god-only-knows-reason, MacCaliffe KNEW it was faked
3) MacCaliffe was absolutely going to tell
4) Somehow, NASA absolutely KNEW she was going to tell
5) Despite being smart enough to "fake" a landing, NASA couldnt come up with any better solution than to blow up a space shuttle.
WHAT A GREAT IDEA!

But you expose your own ignorance just by bringing it up. Radiations effect on people IS NOT MEASURED IN GeV! Anyone who had taken even a DAY of OSHA training could have told you that. Radiations effect, danger, damage and penetration power is all measured in REM.

The radiation energy level is measured in GeV, or MeV, or KeV depending on their energy level. If you want to talk about REM, fine: here is a quotation from Mauldin's work: "solar or star flares of protons can deliver hundreds to thousands of rem over a few hours at the distance of the earth. Such doses are fatal and millions of times greater than the permitted dose."
And need I remind you that Van Allen's experiments proved the radiation is as high as 100rem/hr?
