  • i dedicate this sweet beat to my baby J.B.,this is how it is for me when we"re apart.

  • Go Girl! This is hella nice!

  • 1 year on and im still hurting she dropped out . Rest In Peace and hope to hear you again .

  • Teena simply a gical voice miss you girl

  • Respect and love... always! Always.

  • this track still gives me goosebumps, just quality of the highest order..

  • Teena was a gifted singer tht was strongly influenced by black music and artist as well as being one of the few white artist at Motown. It is not disrespectful to comment on her being white and yet understand her musical gift is and was rare to say the least she is certainly one of my favorite singers..........

  • Lady T was the BEST female R&B singer!!!! Love You my Lady T!!!!

  • love both Faith and Teena! Voices of beauty!

  • I'll miss you Teena. I grew up listening to Teena and Rick. Their music will always be a classic.

  • Teena Marie could be a little over the top on vocals sometimes, but this duet with Faith Evans is a total R and B stormer!!!!!!

    R.I.P Teena x

  • why was she "trapped" in a white body.... I find that offensive...Thats like saying...once again , white people cant dance, cant have soul, dont eat spicy food, ect.ect....Really??? well teena marie , showed everyone thats not true.....2011 ,, and people still think this way......

  • @aneesall chill out! I think the person who wrote that was saying she was like a alot of black women. Teena has a lot of soul that was not a act. She wasn't one of these white girls who think that just because their ''baby daddy'' is black they have a ''ghetto pass''. I mean lets be real the everyday white girl does/ did not act like Teena and thats not a bad thing. Teena was just a cool sista.

  • Some of you are being very disrespectful. This site should be to honor one of the greatest singers ever. Some of you think she didn't get the reward she deserved here on earth. I'm sure she knew her fans loved her and she is going to get her greated reward when she meet our heavenly father. So, can you please show some respect for this lady and her family? Tina is gone, but her family is still here.

  • Tina you were truly a soul sister trapped in a white body and if anybody had a problem with that it is too bad for them. Your music toughed the hearts and souls of so many. We fell in love with you and not the color of your skin. Most of us looked past that and we saw your soul. You had a soultry voice that will truly be missed. I hope your daughter will continue in your footsteps because you can tell she has a voice like her mother.

  • its just so hard 2 beleive Lady T is gone

  • Miss you so much Lady T : (

  • Lady T -aka- The Ivory Queen of Soul

  • Lady T

  • I luv Teena Marie! My mother always and I mean ALWAYS play her music and this song is a MUST for Momma.Even GRANDMOTHER loves her music! I'm so glad that I was introduced to her music, she was just really good music.People are so stuck on her color but SOUL has no color as my Momma would say,the lady is just 'BAD' !

  • hot track,..dont like the start comeing in a little hard they need to change it but outher then that hott

  • i love tina marie shes a beatiful lady thats sings black and she dope as hell. I love u Tina

  • @KillaHead37 what is sounding black? soul music originated with black folk with some white pioneers as well, but "black" itself is not a sound, it's a color.

  • i love tina marie shes a beatiful lady thats sings black and she dope as hell. I love u Tina

  • What was the last song that she released on the radio? I really loved it but I can't remember it for the life of me!

  • @1234569857 This song was from her very last Album. Again, she didn't get the promotion like she deserved.

  • Its really sad that she never got the props she so rightfully deserved!!!! As long as I can play her music...She will live on!!!!! She gets all props from me LUV U LADY T!!! A TRUE ARTIST IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD!!!! look up artist in the dictionary...a picture of Teena is there!!! LOL

  • @CuteAsianGurl7688, You nasty, why would we want to know about your privacy anyway?

  • She will truly be missed......RIP MS TEENA MARIE!!!!!!

Even though she's gone, but her music still lives on>>>>our Father in Heaven has anotha legend!!!!!

  • No matter what anybody says teena marie was doing her magic for over 30 years.. bringing joy and happiness through her songs. I know she helped me through some very tough times in my life she also went through a lot of pain that shows by the emotion in her voice, but she was always true to herself and very down to earth and very personal with her fans... Not like the jumped up talentless so called artists of today.. Please take some time to really listen to her music MY ANGEL LADY T R.I.P XXX

  • @gollycom yo man i agree im 22 and i think she is fly...i love her music and her voice is so full of soul....much love to teena.

  • @gollycom Yes still does get me thru some thangs! I don't know any "artist" in the last 10-15 yrs that can begin to compare to Lady T!! Teena does Teena!!!! She didn't remake somebody else shit ... she is "A-RIGIN-NAL" and not only can she "SAANG" listen to the words...she is DEEP and so REAL. The so called artists' of today don't even sing about anything...their shit has no meaning and u probably only like 1or2 tracks on their whole cd!! Not the case with Teena the whole cd be all dat!

  • i will miss teena for ever..this song is so special..

  • I LOVE Faith..If you listen to her interview she let be known that Teena Maria has her own dimension. This duet was necessary.

  • @AESOPPOSEA1 and we wonder why america is going down the tube in everything especially education. what kind of crap is that comment did your parents teach you that crap. obviously you have not caught the right person because if you said that to the right person you wouldn't say it anymore what a ass!

  • @biznesssavvy AESOPPOSEA1's comment is a true testament of his/her upbringing. sad indeed.

  • @AESOPPOSEA1

    u r such a racist asshole

  • I was slightly offended by some of the comments here, and I feel I needed to face that ugliness head on. Why does the color of one’s skin matter so much? All colors are beautiful in god’s eyes. I was raised to believe that judging others based off of their skin tone was racist.

  • Do you like it when someone judges you based off the color of your skin? Think of the “wittiest” job you can think of. If a man or woman of a mocha complexion had that job would that make them a “wigger” or “poser” as you so put it? So, why is the opposite true to you?

  • She was a First and second Alto and first and second Soprano. Lady T could sing any song that any of today’s R&B singers sing. But the same cannot be said about today’s singers. They just don’t have the range. Plus most don’t even write their own music or even play an instrument. They are singing the light that someone else’s soles reflect. I think that’s rather sad.

  • I have said my peace on the matter. So, please stop judging people based on something as trivial as skin tone. It’s like judging a person off of the size and shape of their big toe. It makes no since at all. Instead how about basing your beliefs about a person on their abilities and what they say and do in their life. Ok?

  • Ok, I need to rant and it’s not letting me put in the whole thing. So segments it is..

  • Teena did her thing for decades. You youngsters need to give proper respect to the people who make your favorite artist possible today

  • So much more alive than so many folks walking the earth. A dynamic, generous artist. We were blessed to have her above ground. A gorgeous tsunami of talent. Goodbye Lady T.

  • Loving these pics - great video! Respect and much love Lady T...

  • Some people don't know how to appreciate a beautiful voice when they hear one... Lady T went in the right direction with music.. A soulful voice would have went to waste if she sang country or rock... RIP Teena Marie

  • I WAS SO SICK OF TEENA MARIE ACTIN SO BLACK!!!!! SHE NEEDED TO DO SOME COUNTRY OR ROCK THAT WHITE PEOPLE DO!!!!!!!

  • @vh1newyork with a voice like Teena Marie, she went the right direction with her choice in music.. and She is one soulful woman... Country music or rock wouldn't have served that voice justice...

  • @vh1newyork Actually, Teena did do rock music; check out the song "You So Heavy." Also, she did a folk-like song, called "How Can You Resist It." As far as "acting black," she wasn't just posing; Teena had a black godmother and her favorite music was always r&b. She was a genuine soul singer; if she had wanted to be more popular, she could have "crossed over" to the Top 40, but she always stayed true to her favorite type of music: Soul music.

  • What a gorgeous smooth voice. Left us far to early.

  • I don't know what started the argument nor do I care., Beyonce is Beyonce and Teena Marie is Teena Marie (Lady T) and no one can ever, ever, ever replace her. No one sounds like her and we lost a LEGEND! Everyone is entitled to their opinion (no matter how ridiculous or obsurd anyone else may think it is). The beauty of music (0r life in that matter) is that it varies...no one wants to hear the same ole thang and I am glad that there are people out there who has differing opinion. Thats MUSIC!!!

  • I am white. I am proud of Teena for singing this music. I love soft smooth jazz.

  • @zevadav So am I. I only discovered Teena's music by accident, because I didn't have access to r&b radio stations where I live. The only song I knew of hers was "Lovergirl." I ordered a greatest hits album of hers based on "Lovergirl" and I was amazed at the depth of her musical styles (jazz, in particular) and the poetry of her lyrics. Now, my favorite songs of hers are album cuts like "Casanova Brown," "Yes Indeed" and "Out on a Limb." She was so talented; can't believe she's gone.

  • The Queen of Funk Teena Marie R.I.P Love You

  • its funny ,.as old as she was her sweet voice never changed!. dam,. i loved that woman so much and nobody understood it,. unfortunately now that my baby is gone, maybe now people will take a second look and realize what a phenomenon she was!!

  • GOODBYE WIGGER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Mr070363 fukin red neck

  • THANK YOU TEENA FOR THE INSPIRATION AND FOR GIVING ME A CAREER X

  • I can't compare Beyonce' or any of today's artists to Teena. Because there was only one Teena Marie. God I miss You. But I ain't sad, cause for 30 Years you soothed my heart and soul Teena and now you are forever immortal in our spirits. Rest Teena.

  • Now this is r&b. Thank you Teena and Faith

  • Talent is talent-no matter what color of the artists is- music is an art form-and this woman had ONE HELL OF PAINT BRUSH.... LOVE YOU TEENA

  • nearly saw her last year here in London ,im full of regrets .gonna miss her loads ,gone too soon like the rest of the greats ....hope you wake up in a place called Paradise.

  • She is pimpin this track. this is called breathe control. Still as slick as her debut. This could easily be on her 1st and 2nd cd

  • R.I.P. lady t, you will always be loved and never forgotten,

  • Goodbye Lady T....

  • she was only 54 . I totally didn't see this coming. She was discrete.

Teena you will be missed xoxo

  • I will never forget back in 1979 my BF introduce me to her from playing the album "Wild and Peaceful" the moment I listen to the album. I was hook forever. To the lost hip hop generation listen to this woman music and learn. Get away from that technology Sh*t and learn what REAL R&B/SOUL Music is.

  • not to wish death on anyone, but why cant some of these young shitty dont know what true artists are if they got slapped by one wannabe 'entertainers' get taken instead of our legends? im mean, yeah the young kids would be sad but it really wouldnt be a big loss to music. all they do is bite from the old school anyway and ruin the classic masterpieces. i wouldnt blink if i heard beyonce, gaga, rhianna, or nikki died. but we losing the ppl that made music music yall. damn.

  • @volchaise you still ended up wishing death on these kids. :) They don't get taken, cause they are young and still have alot to do and learn. Like you said the "legends", those who lived longer, are dying. It is sad, but at least they got to do what they did and left us with music and a legacy to remember them by forever. That is all that matters. :)

  • God I am not questioning you why; but I just can't understand this one. You promised your believers 70 score years. Wow. Heartbreaken.

  • I love Tinas voice. It had never changed. Goodness!!!!

  • R.I.P Lady T!!!!!!!!!!

  • GREAT ARTIST!!! TRUE Classic!!! Music Timeless and clear! She truly will be missed!!! Up coming artists please do your home work !!!!

  • @falconsports0809 I can say honestly say that I love Stevie Wonder. He owns KJLH radio here in Los Angeles and they played the heck out of "Can't Last A Day." I never heard it on any other radio station in Los Angeles. Steve gave a lot of support and showed TRUE loyalty to Teena Marie. She was well respected by KJLH and her loyal fans in Los Angeles. I knew about all of Teena's new album because of Stevie. I absolutely love this song and Teena and she is sorely missed. I am so sad. RIP Lady T.

  • One thing I've loved most about Teena Marie is that she stayed true to her talent, herself and her fans. She continued to make the music that 'put her over' her entire career. She didn't try to radically change her style to 'cross over' like so many other artists have. I will always respect her for that. RIP Lady T -- beautiful 'Vanilla Child' and Ivory Queen of Soul....

  • I am devastated by the loss of Teena Marie. I grew up listening to her music and thought she was black because her first album didn't have her photo on it BUT no matter, I was hooked! She was soulful and totally real. Another one GONE TOO SOON. May GOD comfort and keep her family in perfect peace. RIP Ivory Queen.

  • Fiiiirrrrreeeee! Jazzy. RIP

  • I am sad. Oh so sad. I need therapy for this.

  • Her daughter Alia Rose should keep her mother's legacy alive for the rest of her life. Do your thing Alia stay stong and I know you would be alright. Alia would be a wonderful singer as well. They should do a scholarship or a foundation under her name to keep her memory alive. Rest in peace you'll be missed.

  • Love me some Teena Marie..I'm in shock, so sad..RIP..condolensenses to ther family and friends.

  • tina marie,...why?

  • Oh, man my girl, Lady T, is gone, but not forgotten!

  • Teena was truly a class act. As far as I am concerned, she should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. She will be missed greatly.

  • @MsNeoDraven Why don't you go play a nice quiet game of hide and go fuck yourself on the edge of a gun you fucking Paki. Durka Durka!

  • @Heftron you really need to get a life and go fk yourself! How dare you say such rude shit! This woman was a musical genius! May she rest in peace and I hope someone shits on your grave you bastard!

  • @Heftron

    F@ck you!

  • @Heftron You shouldn't be breathing at all.

  • @chelle315 U got a problem...Just imagine if someone says that about your mother; Oh my bad they did the day you were born.

  • @shunda12 First off Shunda, learn how to read before you respond to a comment, had you been paying attention you would have noticed that I was responding to the asshole that referred to Teena's music as wigger music, see where it says @HEFTRON in front of my comment? Please make this the last time you EVER in your fuckin' life EVER say anything about MY mother. Peace. :))

  • @Heftron Next time you feel what you think is rain, it will be Teen pissing on your head.

  • @TheTricky4u Next time you hear screams from your bedroom, Its just me fucking your mom in the ass.

  • Cant believe I didnt really get into her music like I should have, this song is my jam, and I just started listening to it a few months ago, and now she's gone, Im reading and listeing to all of these songs not knowing they were her, now Square Biz- I knew was her for sure, but so many I had no idea. She was Super Kool! R.I.P Lady T

  • R.I.P LADY T. YOU ALWAYS HAD YOUR BLACK CARD NO DOUBT!

  • I agree that the media coverage in speaking about her has been lacking. Entertainment Tonight didn't say a mumbling word about her passing....I don't get it...

  • love this song

  • Teena you will be missed. Faith Evans is another one who does not get the promotion that she deserves. Must be locked in a contract with P. Diddy! She needs better management.

  • @fairladyAtl I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING. FAITH DOESN'T GET THE PROMOTION THAT SHE DESERVE. I DON'T GET IT. I HOPE SHE ISN'T STILL OBLIGATED TO PUFF. MAYBE AFTER SHE PLAYS FLORENCE BALLARD SHE WILL GET THE RECOGNITION THAT SHE RIGHTLY DESERVE. I HAVE MY FINGERS CROSSED. I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH. MS. TEENA MARIE and FAITH DID THE DAMN THING ON THIS JOINT.

  • WE LUV YOU TEENA!!! HEAVEN'S NEWEST ANGEL!!!! NEVER 4GOTTEN!!!!!!

  • THANKS FOR THE GOOD MUSIC..TEENA!!!

  • R.I.P. Lady T.

  • SOUUUUUUUUULLL......... MUZIK

  • On the contrary, Teena Marie got a lot of recognition...from the people she appealed to...black people. I will truly miss Teena Marie. Her death is a major news story in my world as I listen to the news every morning and did not hear about it, I believe, because she was not well known by white people. I have practically all of Teena Marie'e early recordings, I cannot say that about a lot of black female singers. Nuff said.

  • @Onlythetruth247, yes, she was treated the way most R&B singers have or will be treated when they pass. Her passing is so unfortunate. CNN is the only "news" channel that mentioned her. I feel unhonored to have seen her live a few years ago in Chicago. She was big during my mom's youth, but I thoroughly enjoyed her talent. RIP

  • @kgsunshine I know what you mean, I did not know that Teena had passed, until I saw a short snippet on BET they said she passed and did not say anything more. Entertainment tonight didn't even mention her, its sad the way our legends get treated, when they are living and when they pass. I bet you if Gaga, Kesha or someone like that passed they would be holding candle light vigils, its such a shame!

  • What does color have to do with anything ????? DuH - Wake UP!!!!!

  • Teena was an extraordinary singer, entertainer, and person and not necessarily in that order. She had a voice that crossed over color and culture. Berry Gordy definitely realized what he had in signing her to a contract. Even until today, as recently as the summer of 2010 seeing her perform she was still electricfying.

  • Another tight bass line..............!!!

  • @rthominc Tell em' again, family.

  • When people think R&B, Funk etc, normally they think only black voices are supposed to dominate. Tina told u in her music that true artistic talent's colorless. I'm black, honestly today's black artists just don't give me that same old feeling like old school. TIna was old & new school perfectly packaged in one unique soul genius.True talent makes statements pushes bondaries without trying, today's crap is only out for one thing & the almighty dollar, winning awards & showing off.

  • @zxoopqui I agree with you on everything but the fact remains that music is neither black or white so it doesnt matter the persons color who makes ART

  • Tina was one of a kind. R and B today is seriously lacking. People think that Trey Songz, Beyonce make good music. May she forever rest in the arms of the Lord.

  • @day1498 Even though I'm 16 and suppose to be with this 'so called music' Justin Bieber and Rihanna or what not ain't cutting it mate, This 'new sound' has no soul what so ever, were being miss guided =/ . I'd rather listen to a Real R&B classic any day, back way before I was born. Maybe one day Music will sound real again. Well I pray so.

  • @zxoopqui I just don't think today's black artists really care about the music anymore. It's now more about popularity and money as you said, opposed to raw and significant talent. Teena was also a strong role model for all women. Today's artists just don't get it. I often wonder what and who they grew up listening too because most of the artists from the 1960's-1990's were talented. Today's so-called artists need to study real artists like Teena. That should be required.

  • A voice like none other. Never be another like hers. Like Phylis Hyman 2 unique voices that made you want to listen more & more. RIP Lady T. Today's singers should use her style as a lesson. Lady T could be sexy & sensual without being vulgar. Today's voices leave nothing to your imagination. Hell don't match up period. She made your mind think & focus on her lyrics while you melted away deep inside her music. Talent, legend dosen't even begin to describe her gift. RIP Lady T.

  • Beyonce and Rihanna listen and learn.

You've left us too soon Tina.

  • @MagnusMG1 ....I'm younger than both Rihanna and Beyonce and even I know it's an insult to even compare those two clowns to Miss Teena Marie, especially no singing Rihanna,I mean really now!!!

  • @Syyymone I wasn't comparing them to Lady T, just pointing out the difference between real talent and fake. Unlike you a lot of people can't seem to tell the difference. How else can you explain why Rihanna is so successful despite singing like she's trying to raise the dead? As for Beyonce, yeah she can holler a tune or two but when it comes to the sensitivity and subtlety required for a ballad she definitely shows how limited she is vocally. Keep listening to real RnB and spread the Soul.

  • @MagnusMG1 Beyonce is terrible. Her vibrto is the worse thing I have ever heard and she sings all over the place. She screams, yells, and yodels...that is not soul music. I don't know what she's doing? She has a voice, but she really needs to work on her technique. She is no where near the range, soul, and control that Teena Marie had. Maybe she should have grown up listening to her, maybe she would sound better had she done so? Because...

  • @MagnusMG1 Hating on Bey is sooo lame now. Bey can flat at SANG. Stop hating on artist to make yourself feel about YOURSELF.

  • @MagnusMG1 Hating on Bey is sooo lame now. Bey can flat at SANG. Stop hating on artist to make yourself feel good about YOURSELF.

  • @shardtx Bey can flat a Snag??! Please explain because I have no idea what that means. Why is it that when someone expresses an opinion that you disagree with it then means that they're hating? I'm not 'hating' on anyone I just don't think Beyonce is a great singer. Why should I settle for a mediocre talent because he or she is popular. I grew up listening to real talent, real singers and real RnB so I know I deserve better.

  • @MagnusMG1 'Flat out saaang' is what I meant. I can't tell you settle for a damn thing that you don't WANT hell I don't care. I LOVE soul music and great sanging. I just don't like it when people always feel the need to talk down on another artist just because you may like another one. You can't kill the game like Bey and be called 'mediocre' that's just flat out hating. I love artist such as Rachelle Ferrell, Ledisi, Lalah, Bilal, Raphael and Bey included I could go on and on. Just stop hating.

  • @shardtx If you don't care why are responding to my comment and why are getting so worked up? You seem to want to argue rather than just accept that my opinion is different from yours. You think Beyonce is great, that's fine. Personally I'm not impressed. Yeah she can scream and holler a song but when it comes to ballads...that's when you see that vocally she is very limited. As I said before...mediocre. And if to you that's hating then yes, I'm 'hating.

  • @MagnusMG1 WOW!!!!!! BEYONCE IS A POWERHOUSE!!!! YOU'VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE LIKE BEYONCE!!! AHHH BALLADS ARE HER STRONG POINT!! SOULFUL,POWERFUL,GREAT CONTROL,AMAZING SENSE OF TIMING,RYTHEM,RIFFS FOR DAYS!!! SOUNDS LIKE YOU REALLY HAVEN'T LISTENED TO VERY MUCH BEYONCE! ASIDE FROM THE FACT THAT NO ONE......NOBODY, WORKS HARDER! MEDIOCRE.......NEVER! YOU CAN LIKE OR DISLIKE HER.......BUT NEVER DENY HER TALENT!! BY THE WAY I LOVE TEENA MARIE...YOU CAN'T COMPARE.....BOTH, 1 OF A KIND!!!!

  • @livingdollshoppe We could go on and on with this one however for me the proof is in the music. You telling me that Beyonce is a powerhouse, amazing, great etc isn't going to change my mind. I admit that I may have been a bit harsh in describing her as mediocre but vocally she doesn't move me. And that's how you can compare the two. Vocally Teena was more soulful. I've just listened to Congo Square; every single track is pure quality R&B. Further proof of the great talent we've lost.

  • @MagnusMG1 ok hater.

  • @shardtx There you go with that 'hater' thing again. What's the matter - can't you express yourself in a more intelligent way? Is you vocabulary really that limited?! Here's my advice to you. Don't be so closed minded and try to accept that some people have different opinions and views to you. Show some intelligence...not ignorance. Believe me...it's a better way to live.

  • @MagnusMG1 shut up. teena marie wasnt all that great WITH HER WHINING WEIRD VOICE!!!!!

  • @MagnusMG1 BEYONCE IS BETTER THAN TEENA. POINT BLANK. SUCK IT UP!!!!!

  • @vh1newyork lmfao you're high to even joke about that

  • @dakliq420 OH IT WASNT A JOKE AT ALL!!!!! JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR THANK YOU!!!!!

  • @dakliq420 rotf well look who she choose to name herself after on here - pure ignorance.

  • @vh1newyork lmao u gotta be kidding ryte? teena has more soul in her big toe then beyonce ever will!

  • @2100boy no i am not. beyonce has more stage presence than that boring teena marie will ever have. teena wasnt even versatile vocally!!!!

  • @vh1newyork thats bcuz beyonce is a preformer she need the stage lights n costumes... all teena needed to do is stand there n sing!!!! but to each his own right sooo ima walk on.....

  • @2100boy yeah and she was boring just standing there and singing. she didnt have any energy. her music shined more than she did on stage, and i dont mean that in a good way.

  • @2100boy and just b/c someone can sing good does mena they are a great performer!!!

  • @vh1newyork GREAT ENTERTAiNERS WiLL ALWAYS HAVE HATERS. Thank God you're 1 of the few that feel that way about Teena Marie because BLACK LEGENDS have respect for Teena & she rep'd her PORTUGESE side hence the song PORTUGUESE LOVE...R.I.P. LADY T...

  • We will never hear a voice or music like this anymore. #underrated RIP Teena Marie u will never be forgotten. #DKP :(

  • Awesome sound of the Bay Area. Her voice always soothed me driving late at night from San Francisco.

  • This was sooo... unexpected, she was one of the best . RIP sweet soul sista.

  • Teena is 4 stars. Before she pass away I already had her as my ringstone. What a golden voice. Her and Rick is reunited and saying again.

  • Lady T, yet another amazing singer and legend gone too soon.

R.I.P. Teena Marie, 'Ivory Queen of Soul'
