I have been trying for the past 4 years to master that triplet roll at 1.13 but I just can't play it. I'm fine on the snare but once i get to the toms I lose where I am
I am not worthy, O Holy Batterer of Skin!
Help me please, Beau, or anybody for that matter!
The fill is over 1 bar and is made up of 7 groups of triplets.
3 groups of triplets on the snare, 2 on tom 1, then 2 on either tom 2 or floor tom. Try practising the fill slowly then slowly building up speed. You could sort of cheat on it and just play a roll over the 3 drums.
@LedZepZoSo96 Beau Ferchaud does NOT read drum music, so your instructions unfortunately will do him no good. He is self taught and plays completely by ear.
now if you'd like to see America's Mr. Bonham do it ( with some extras ) Yes with some extras.. go to my page and look 12 th one down under uploads .....
..... great job Beua hope you dont mind the plug but we must all share the Zeppelin
I don't understand why there are dislikes on this vid. If you went searching for drum covers to a song you must be a fan of the song and this cover is flawless!
Bot to say Beau, all your Led Zepp cover are just AWESOME. I'm so jealous of your drum skills ^^. But anyway I'm quit not a drummer but guitar player.
You play what you feel. Which is what Bohnam did. I thought you nailed the groove, which is what is important. I think JB would agree. Keep playing. You've got "the touch". (So do I-lol_)
John Bonham plays sixteenth notes on those fills with ghost notes on the and of 3 and on beat 4 (ghost notes, if you don't know what they are, are beats that are barely played. They can still be heard, obviously). In English, that means you would play that fill like so: RL(R)L (R)LRL. The beats in parentheses are the ghost notes. That is then followed by a cymbal crash, and the rest of the song.
This is what you would hear: RL L LRL C<--for whatever hand you use while crashing. =]
Beau Can't read drum music, so all the definations of beats and notes would not mean anything to him anyway LOL. He plays completely by ear without any sheet music.
HEY!!!! PPL. I made a drum compilation video, its a huge mix of amazing drum songs in Rock n Roll, i really need feedback and views on it!! its got great drumming....from Bonham to Peart etc etc....Bill Ward u know the deal... please check it out its on my channel!!!! THANKSS!!!!!!!!
@karjunkz I personally find it comfortable to play RL L L RL R with the last R being the crash cymbal. What I gave you is natural sticking, right hands on the downbeats and left on the upbeats, in case you didn't know. If you're somewhat new at drumming, let me tell you that natural sticking makes life so much easier.
at 9:15 you were having trouble lol cuz of the smile on your face you were like "god this is hard!" haha but you nailed it well done m8, the very best of bonham and zeppelin rite there. 10/10
Wow thanks for posting this vid, it really helped because i couldnt figure some parts in the song when my band was learning it. You're a really great drummer, keep it up
@ RuberHammer: Not neccessarily. It all depends on your skill and how well you can play by ear. If you require drum music to play drums, then NO you will not be able to do it after a year of playing. Achillies is very much an improvised track, as all of John Bonhams drumming was. Beau Ferchaud (Above) is completely self taught and does not read a single note of sheet music. He plays all of his drum beats by ear...Otherwords, he hears it and then replicates it by memory.
This has nothing to do with hearing by ear just because he can play by ear dosent mean if you play sheet music you cant. If you need to go buy a book with it, and that will at least give you an idea of the beat you can than improv from their. Good luck. Tough song
It sure is...........I have been in coversation with Beau over the last couple of weeks and he has verbaly agreed to record a drumming track of "Kashmir". I have been asking him to do it for a couple of years and finally now he has said he is going to do it...I can't wait!
@bjamn123: No, Beau Ferchaud and myself are not the same person.
Please read the information posted to the video...........Make sure to always read the information on any video you watch because it often answers your questions before you ask them LOL.
I know.....Best Drum cover of this song I have ever seen anyone do.
He does it with such precision not missing a single beat to the original track.
I suggest you watch some of his other videos no youtube. He does quite a few Led Zeppelin drum covers. There is one where he mounts a camera on his bass pedal.....can't remember which one at the moment, but total genius.
If you want to know the answer to Beau's equipment type his name into the youtube search bar......I just re-posted this video of his because it is my favorite one he has done. He has Several Zeppeling tunes recorded if you go to his youtube Channel..his name is Beau Ferchaud.
