I have this same guitar hanging on my wall. I bought it from an old man, 25yrs. ago for $5.00. A luthier said it would cost $500. to restore it. What's your thought?
@artdecco I have always been partial to this guitar mainly for the sentimental value. In my research the cost of restoring it would have to be justified by you. I had mine restored some 30 years ago (Wife accidently put her foot through it) and she had it done. There is a replica out that runs about 700.00 So it would be up to you. The used price on E-Bay indicates a lesser value than you or I would place on it. Hope this has helped.
Roy, I just love this kind of guitar playing. Would you happen to remember a tune called, "I'm Gonna Whistle and Blow My Blues Away?" I had an aunt and uncle who would play it, with him playing the fiddle while she played the guitar. It was just great. Your "Under the Double Eagle" reminds me of it so much. You still play marvelously well. Five stars.
Naomi, I dont believe I ever heard that one, did a search on my sites and cant come up with it. Will keep looking have it in my saved search. Thanks for stopping by.
That's the same guitar my dad tought me to play on, except the pickup. Dad would let me touch it until I was about 11 years old then he he finally let me at it... well about 1 year later the guitar was pretty well trashed from my abuse... guess Dad knew it would happen. Thank you for the memories Roy, the guitar sounds good for it's age, you too for that matter, even with mashed fingers...
What wonderful sounds you make with that instrument Roy! Sounds great with the amplifier! Thoroughly enjoyed listening! Big bright stars and hugs..Jan and Susan.x

@jaywhoper Thanks I am tryingt to find some flat wound strings for it. No string buzz when you slide your fingers down them.

Thanks your so much for stopping by, I used to keep a rattle snake rattle in it to improve the sound (Old cowboy tale) but it finally disintegrated.
