  • Soundgarden and Alice are incredibly interesting bands and if you ask me, I'd take them over Nirvana and Pearl Jam. But you can't undermine Nirvana and Pearl Jam's body of work. All were great bands. With that said, most folks seem to forget probably the most important band to ever emerge from Washington state, The Melvins. It's a possibility many bands wouldn't have existed had they not heard their music.

  • Although I love all four bands-Soundgarden, Alice in chains, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam, it seems like only Nirvana and PJ are remembered. I think that SG and AIC were clearly the most talented and interesting.

  • Soundgarden were WAY ahead of most bands at that time. They were using alternate tunings and odd time signatures and employed a greater range of musical dynamics than practically any other grunge or wannabe grunge band.

  • the song is 'slaves and bulldozers' off badmotorfinger

  • Soundgarden in Black Sabbath's house... that's cool! :D

  • fuck guns and roses

  • My dad went to school with Kim thyil and Kim's thyils mom was my uncles teacher

  • they totally looked stoned at 0:50 with both their heads down and like their staring into space!

    ha ha

  • If they intend on making some new music....great. Otherwise, please stop.

  • @jbenettable Why? Wouldn't you like one last tour of their old stuff?

  • instead of a reunion id like to teleport the chris cornell of '91 to present day and watch him sing live :D

  • THEY ARE FUCKING REU-FUCKING-NITED!! YEEEEAAAAAAHHH!!!! I like soundgarden.

  • they are? I thought they were never going to get back together. Are they making a new cd?

  • Kim and Chris always looked like they were brothers....i wish they get back together again

  • As much as I loved Soundgarden if they got back together it wouldn't sound like it used to. I mean, have you heard the Chris Cornell solo stuff? He's definitely in a different place. Nothing they did after Badmotorfinger had the rawness that made them great imo anyway.

  • Well. Although I'm not quit sure if Chris can reach the same voice rank he had when they were together. I mean, in his solo career shit he didn't use it at all. Maybe his is just tired and if he can't reach it there isn't gonna be any Soungarden man !!

  • i disagree in the most major of ways lol. Chris makes up 1/4 of the whole collective. you think Ben, and Kim are going to play into where Chris' 'different place' is??? lol. funny

  • they just did

    also fuck you

  • @AmberJohnson2103 I know asshole....that was 4 weeks ago....DICK!

  • im aware it was 4 weeks ago, i was informing you they got back together.

I was just saying fuck you because your a piece of trash, you are garbage so I didn't think that I should treat you with any respect

  • great interview, and Slaves and Bulldozers in the background makes my day..

  • what about alice in chains

  • kim and chris seem to b depressed 2 b there. but they always seemd like that in interviews at that time!

i want chis's hair and goatee there!

  • You've obviously never been to Seattle.

It's the most depressing place on Earth. Being from there, I should know.

  • i live in jersey

it too is also the most depressing shitty place on earth

so seattle and jersey are a lot alike

just on opposite ends of the country

at least seattle had a big music scene

we ant got shit here cause no one is creative or their just brainless here!

  • I believe the nature is clean

  • u not found of nature there

  • I'm not fond of the perpetual grayness and drizzle.

  • shut the fuck up bimbo

  • I miss Long Hair Chris

  • It gives me the shits how soundgarden is always forgotten when people talk about grunge nowadays. All they ever mention is Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Like that was it. Guess we know better though :)

  • You bet we do!

  • it's better that way though. they weren't a 'popular' band, they slid under the radar.....and did it better than the rest of them. :)

  • lol Soundgarden absolutely destroys Pearl Jam and Nirvana

  • @tastethejace thank fucking you curt cobaine is a complete fuck off!!!!

  • @tigerintermusic Can you please mind your language?

  • @tigerintermusic 1. You spelled Kurt's name wrong and 2. Fuck-off is a verb not a adjective.

  • @jizzle313 1. Soundgarden > Nirvana and 2. He wasn't using it as a verb or adjective. He was using it as a noun. Go back to 4th grade and learn some standard English, you dumbass.

  • @tastethejace i think they coexisted peacefully without destroying each other

  • @tastethejace Nirvana yes but not Pearl Jam dude

  • AAAND ALICE IN CHAINS!!!

  • @artisthespoonman I always that Soundgarden and Alice in Chains were the best of the bunch

  • @artisthespoonman what the hell are you talking about...you need to stop hanging out with those people because me and all my friends remember EVERY grunge band and in our discussions each group has equal amount of discussion time.

  • @artisthespoonman soundgarden is the very base of grunge,,, pearl jam respects n luvs thm.... dunno bout nirvana tho,,thy seem 2 loath every othr grunge band...

  • @artisthespoonman soundgarden is the very base of grunge,, pearl jam respects thm,,oftn mntions bout thm in thir interviws.... but i cnt say dat bout nirvana tho,, thy seem to loath every othr grunge band !!!!

  • @artisthespoonman

i know and its funny because in my opinion alice in chains and soundgarden put more talent into 2 songs than mccreedy, vedder, and cobain had in their entire bodies....

  • @artisthespoonman Absolutely!!

  • LMFAO around 3:00 through 3:30 she gets the record labels and albums they did mixed up and you can tell thayil is pissed but he keeps his calm that was the highlight of the interview for me

  • I miss the Thayil/Cornell kettle of massive riffs and awesome melodies!!

  • brummies love their grunge, don't they? XD

  • how do you pronounce kims name ? thigh-ill??

  • Thay-il

  • before superunknown

  • horrible laughter

  • What is the song in the back?????

  • Slaves and bulldozers

  • SHIT THIS THEY HAVE TO GET BACK NOW

  • It's not gonna happen, They've always said that

  • we just need some new bands to grow some balls and do something new. soundgarden was doing some interesting things back then. too many bitch bands around right now

  • I AGREE

  • i agree too.

  • Couldnt had put it any different! As Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity and Down said it in one Metal Hammer interview: " I desperatly miss Soundgarden..!"

  • That British accent...

  • Soundgarden were always given these same questions, Chris never really gives a shit because he's said it all before and plus he probably didn't think he cpould solely represent the scene. Not that he's not worthy, but he's a modest person.

  • Blah blah blah, Seatlle, blah blah blah, grunge, blah blah blah, subpop, blah blah blah, Pearl Jam, Nirvana...

I totally understand that bored faces.

  • watch the movie "hype!"

that will give you a better understanding of it.

  • what is it about

  • it is about the beginning of "grunge" and how it broke into the mainstream and all that good stuff. lots of great bands in there too. you learn a lot.

  • okay. i'll look for it...

    thanks

  • if u cant find it in a video or record store it is posted here on youtube.

  • alright...

    thanks again

  • what a painfully unoriginal interview. seems they answered the same questions for 10 years straight. "seattle, subpop, grunge..." blah blah..

  • You're 100% right!

  • well thats because everyone kept asking the same fricken question

  • awesome

  • probably the robert plant and the jimmy page of their generation

  • they are better than plant and page

  • @Andre2010

No, They are the Chris Cornell and Kim Thayil of their generation.

  • it's kinda depressing to see Chris nowadays. soundgarden was so unique and amazing, such a diverse body of work. all those old-school SST punk influences yet they were so epic, but not like ordinary headbanger's ball fodder. Kim Thayil needs to come out of exile!

  • oh my god definitely awesome folks!.. Certainly , I am in same idea with rivariad, this is the greatest shit i've ever seen in youtube REALLY =).. I followed all; The words isn't sufficient, great job by buckwheat1990 thnks a lot dude ..

  • Thanks so much ;D

  • you got my blessing, this is the greatest shit i've ever seen in youtube. thnks

  • Great!

  • I really need to live in Europe! They have the best television programming, especially when it comes to music!

  • great stuff, never seen this!!

  • Thanks! ;oD

It was on MTV Europe, maybe that's why you didn't see it...

  • This looks great considering you had it in the dungeon on tape since 1992! I can't wait to see the rest! OH GOD, he's so cute!

  • nice!

    where did you get this?

  • It's all mine...I recorded that myself in 1992 and kept it in the dungeon.
