  • @DieHasa I bought this laptop at the start of the year, and I don't have £450 + to spare.

  • @Linux4UnMe You are as crazy as i am in linux !!

  • @DieHasa

    ;)

  • @Linux4UnMe lol, it sucks to be me, only Ubuntu-based distros support my wireless card, and I don't have a ethernet cable available. :(

  • @MultiJamala Buy a new one xD !!

  • Probably the worst KDE distro I have ever tried. lols

  • @MultiJamala

    Kubuntu is the worst :P

  • @Linux4UnMe i agree. I'm on kubuntu right now and it's sucks. I'm gonna try something else. Wich linux is the most compatible with nvidia?

  • @demonpulse2

They all are.... it's just that some Distros make it easier to install than others...

  • I have a question Im on linux Mint 10 Kde Right now and I havent Got The Theme That looks like Windows 7...

When I Installed Linux Mint 10 i wasnt connected tto internet so i had to download Kde from Synpatic Manager when i was on LXDE

    I Got KDE 4 :/ Not Kde 4.6

  • @TheOpensourceFTW

you would have Kde 4.5.x most likely

You might need to update from backports to install kde 4.6

There are plenty of tutorials if you google "ubuntu 10.10 how to install kde4.6"

  • the final release is now available! :D

  • @Ubuntufrog

    Nice. thanx

  • hi kaddy tard. Hope you're well today. THE ONLY SHOW WORTH CATCHING IS OSGUI, not that I think you're a dumb retard or anything. OSGUI is far more intelligent and you are obviously badly in need of a dick up your bum. You see, a dick up your bum would be very therapeutic for you.

  • @DumbIrishChimp

No thanx Tim. But you can have as many dicks in your ass as you like........... Nice fake hidden channel Tim... very clever. loser

  • i think they wanted to make this version a bit slow for the users thats coming over from windows

  • @TuxNoBux

ahahhaahhha. would be familiar I guess ;)

  • @Linux4UnMe hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa suck it ballmer put your cock in the penguin's mouth

& we will see if the penguin shits out the right flag!

  • @Linux4UnMe "would be familiar I guess ;)" Hardly... Windows 7 for the win.

  • @MrNumeroid

    if you say so :)

  • I have a doubt mate .. If I have 3 GB RAM how much do I allocate for SWAP?

  • OS guy FTW!!!!!! hahahaha im just trolling :D

  • Linux Mint is the best Ubuntu off shoot among all of the Linux Distributions based on Ubuntu. I been using Linux mint for over six years, and the only other Linux Distros I'd recommend is Pepermint ,and Puppy Linux 5.11 .

  • wow, mint has always been the best looking linux by far

  • @chiccorevolution96

ffmpeg, but an easier way is "gtk-recordmydesktop"

  • @Linux4UnMe

I have got gtk-RecordMyDesktop but it only works in command line. I've been using the command line and it works well so I'll stick with that for a bit. I wanted RecordItNow because it offers more formats to save in. Oh well I can always get another command line capture program. I did notice someone had the same problem on a forum. The problem has something to do with KDE 4. Thank for advice :)

  • my Mint KDE has used the PAE kernal since version 9, and works that way in 10 RC as well, so not sure why you didn't get the PAE when you installed it. Odd you find it slow, it is much faster for me. But have heard others say its slower as well.

  • @GhoS64

did you do an online upgrade from mint 9 to mint 10? thats probly why.... I done a fresh install....

  • @Linux4UnMe

I did a fresh install, but did keep my /home as its on its own partition

  • @GhoS64

hhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm very very strange then. We should both have the same kernels........ i dunno. I didn't do an update after installation..... so I don't know if a pae kernel came with an update or not.......

  • Nice review. On VLC though, it seems to me that every version after 1.1.5 has been somewhat bugged up. If I even try to "open file" with 1.1.6-1.1.7 on either Arch or FreeBSD, the program just freezes up.

  • @ElderSnake90

strange eh. With the latest Vlc on arch the only problem I have is that in full screen mode, the bottom control panel of vlc goes black.

  • Is the KDE network manager working properly in KDE 4.6?

  • @t6uni

yes. Seems to work fine. I have Wifi

  • Can you please make a video of how to install utorrent server? Everything seems to work for me but I can't add rss and it's driving me insane :( if not, please show me some way to add rss feeds to a bittorent client. qbittorrent works but it seems to place all rar file outside the directory... Sorry for requesting but I thought since your doing videos any way :)

  • @ilightbite Have you tried ktorrent, with the RSS plugin? Do a google search for torrent RSS, and you should find a few feeds with tutorials. eztv is a good one.

  • @ecconz Thanks, I'll try it

  • @ilightbite

hhmmmm. I have never tried that.... I would suggest signing up on my Forum on my website and asking the question. You will get an answer fairly quickly. cheers

  • I've been waiting for someone to review Mint 10 KDE :)

I can't get RecordItNow to install. I had the same problem with Kubuntu 10.10 when I upgraded to KDE 4.6! Anyone else have the same problem?

  • @mousegeek

hehe yeah I wanted to be one of the first to review mint 10. I have never tried RecorditNow.... Those screencasting tools that have a Gui often have Bugs and weirdness so I just use Ffmpeg... there is not much that can ever go wrong with it since it is a commandline tool ;)

  • @Linux4UnMe

Yep you were first off the mark :)

That seems to be the case. I'll have to stick with the command line tools :)

  • Oooohhh man when this goes final its getting installed straight away! Although, they may be using 4.6, the GTK integration in the mint edition is kinda messed, did they switch it to QTCurve or something despite the oxygen-gtk theme? I just wish Debian 6 had 4.6 in the backports :(

  • @lindsaymobil22

not too sure I havn't looked into it and have reinstalled over that partition now lol.

As for Debian, I have read tutorials on how to fairly Safely Mix branches of stable, testing and unstable without messing it up via Apt Pinning. I might take kde 4.6 from unstable and see how it goes

  • Man they are kinda late with the KDE..

  • @74ryanwolf

how so? Kde 4.6 has only been out for a couple of weeks.... not too bad

  • @Linux4UnMe No I mean the KDE version, should have been out
