@bigheadchau How long does each card play for? Depends on how fast you crank it =P Also, my homemade cards in some of my videos are much longer than standard ones. Second question - I have seen a Japanese video somewhere that attached a motor of sorts.

See what you need to do is get it mounted on a board and hook up a nice little motor in place of the handle so you can just put the sheet in push the button and let it play itself :D

@LaNcEdApAnTz Yes, actually I didn't have a choice. The music box is diatonic and can't play accidentals, which was pretty crucial to this song so that's why it sounds so off.

You can buy 80lb stock paper and cut it to fit the width (4cm i think) and tape them together till you get the length you need.

80lb is the thickness that the original music box comes with, you could try a lighter weight (67lb) for cheaper, but the music box might rip through the paper or not grab it correctly.

5 punch cards cost $5 at thinkgeek

150 8.5x11in 80lb paper at staples cost $15

8.5in = 21.95cm ~ 20

20/4 = 5 11in long punch cards per sheet

5*150 = 750... thats a lot of music

One a side note: when cutting blank strips be very very precise about the width. Cutting the wrong or uneven width will cause the music box to play incorrect notes or not run smothly (guess how i found out ^^; )

You can't buy a music box for this song specifically - I made it myself by punching out the holes. The music box (available online at thinkgeek) comes with blank sheets and you have to make the song yourself.

Physically making the punch card isn't difficult, but arranging this song was a little tough. The music box is diatonic so it can't play any sharps or flats (so it's off in a lot of parts)...which is why I like to stick to simple video game songs but I couldn't resist trying out Hedwig's Theme. Thanks for the comment. =)
