I just love the color and the texture of the cocktail, reminds me of bubbles in a bubble bath (LOL). If you want, just have a click on gourmet heartbeat for more recipes. Party time!
Do these people know about food safety? Though , their eggnog recipe is delicious. They allow their cats on their workstation. Hairball can fly to the eggnog. However, I will do this eggnog recipe WITHOUT CATS.
@ArcticDrum I would say no longer than a week, because it is dairy-based. It might separate a little in the fridge so just give it a shake to recombine. If you know you're going to be making it in advance, don't add the alcohol til you're ready to serve it.
Ok, I'm totally making this. I'm American and my husband is British... He's never had eggnog and thinks it sounds weird and gross. I need to remedy this situation.
@taboman well, that's the thing. it's the whites that can contain bacteria, so ideally that's what you'd want to cook. but you can't beat cooked whites into peaks, so it's a bit of a sticky spot. To be honest, if you buy pasteurized eggs or trust your farmer (ask him/her how recently the eggs were laid before you buy) you should be fine. If anyone is really worried, though, the egg whites could be subbed out for some whipped cream. It would make the eggnog even richer and creamier, though.
I just... dont think id like eggnog... idk why... i LOVE creamy stuff but it just... doesnt.. sound appetizing. :( Rebecca will you be a egg nog drinker now?? or are you still 'eh' about it?
@HummingbirdKrista I hope I'm not biased because it's my recipe, but I would drink this eggnog if someone handed me some. Still probably wouldn't drink other eggnogs. Like Justin said in the video, this tastes like cake - rich and creamy and sweet. But boozy.
@IndieDream231@nickeles0@blumbriel@platypusguitar WHOA! Sorry for the temporary extreme 'drunk vision' on this video, everyone. Thought I'd give the 'Stabilize' filter from YouTube a shot...and, apparently, it works in reverse if your video's already stabilized. I feel like a scientist, taking on the unknown and finding new extremes...anyway, the video's back to normal now, so please try again if you would be so kind.
I've never understood the connection between eggnog and alcohol, around here it's just sold by itself and I've never known anyone that adds alcohol to it. Maybe it's just not common around here.
@hunthicks Eggnog was originally an alcoholic beverage. It is only in more recent history that the fake non-alcoholic version has become a popular holiday drink sold at supermarkets. Most people seem to drink the supermarket non-alcoholic eggnog these days, but that's not how real eggnog traditionally is made, which is with alcohol.
@DrSuperSparkle Well, I'm glad I can get it without alcohol, because the one time I decided to add alcohol it was just terrible. My family has made their own egg nog since I was a kid, way better then what you can buy in store.
This looks awesome! I am thinking of making it to bring to Christmas.. do you think I could prep the whole thing in advance, or do the egg whites need to be added just before serving?
@Sereneblaze I would definitely try it with soy or almond milk. We used 2% milk where most recipes call for whole and it was ridiculously rich from the cream and egg yolks and super thick from the peaked egg whites. So I bet skim milk or a non-dairy milk would work just fine.
@deathbygoat That's basically exactly how I felt. I don't generally like creamy things but this was a lot of fun to make and would really do well at a holiday party, with or without booze. (But especially with booze.)
what's that thing called when you blading the cinnamon?
