What's your opinion on ASUS's Republic of Gamers brand of laptops? I'm getting one for moderate gaming (not expecting it to be a hardcore gaming machine) and also for video editing and game design for school. The laptop I'm eying has an Nvidia GTX560M (Assuming the "M" is an automatic indicator that it's a lot less powerful than a desktop GTX560), 12 GB RAM (UDK requires at least 8 GB so that's in my favor) and a Core i7 clocked to 2.8 GHz. Would that be worth the $1,450 price tag?
@Skaarjguy I like Asus's stuff a lot. My graphics card is an Asus RoG. Normally I would say that 12GB of memory is overkill, but if you are using something that requires 8GB then you might go for 12. Unless you need a laptop I would lean toward a desktop. They are not hard to build at all, and they are faster and cheaper.
@trydyingtolive I need a laptop for school, and since I'm doing game design I might as well kill two birds with one stone and get a laptop that can handle the Unreal Development Kit. Otherwise I'd have to buy a medium-low end laptop and then buy parts for a desktop, which might end up costing more than $1,450.
@Skaarjguy It may be cheaper with the lappy and desktop. I'm really not sure though. It's free to price check and who knows maybe the gaming lappy is the better option and maybe the two computers is the better. Now I'm interesting. I might have to price check and see if I can do a gaming rig and a decent lappy for under $1,450
Last time I tried to go to 90 degrees, my rocket didn't cooperate very well either. Maybe there's a flaw in this new version that causes rockets to freak out. I don't see why rockets would behave differently depending on where they point though so I don't know...
Hi, first of all, i luv your vidz !!!! You are just the person to be a youtube partner! And second, whats your name?? Because I don't think I'll want to call you trydyingtolive when I want to ask u something ! :P
I just did a challenge that you might enjoy, I went to the moon using no SAS modules. took forever, but i could use any parts i wanted other than the SAS.
i know this sounds extremly hard/unbelievable, but i know for a fact that you can go past the moon, and get within 10,000 feet of the sun. Since the sun is impossible to land on, you can only get that close to it. If you get bored and want to upload another video, theres a challenge :P
Haha, you had me on the floor when the burn got into the later stages xD Gave you a good chance to talk to us about future KSP and computers though :D I personally put all of my money into rent and commute for college otherwise I'd just build my own since it's super cheaper than buying pre-built from a big name. Thanks so much for flying this, good to finally know the speed, and I'm hoping to start a high trend of speed rockets, it has potential for many unique builds :)
@wryip350 Possibly. It should be noted that you get diminishing returns with every card you add. Plus you can add other problems such as micro stuttering. I've looked at it with the goal of upgrades and not initial performance.
Don't forget that AMD video cards are faster at bitcoin mining. Really though if you're building a budget computer, there are great deals to be had on intel/nvidia combinations when you're not buying the bleeding edge hardware. The Tom's Hardware budget builds (low/med/high budget) usually run intel/nvidia on the lower cost machines, then AMD on the high end. You're spot on though, buy as much computer as you can afford and you'll have it much longer before you need an upgrade.
@gogonimago Gosh, I'm turning red. I just try to keep things reasonable and balanced. Its like a top fuel drag racer vs a standard four door car. The drag racer is faster, more expensive and more complicated. But you put them on a race track with turns and even a PT Cruiser will win. Is your $400 intel faster than my $200 AMD? Yes, but my computer can turn corners.
@trydyingtolive True that man, true that. Fortunately, not a lot of people realize this and they all go buy intels and that keeps the AMD prices down ;)
@gogonimago But that to me is sad. AMD has been the innovator. They are pushing boundaries. They deserve our money. Because who gave us dual core processors, and usable 64bit CPUs? AMD. Who gave us on the die memory controllers and APUs? AMD. Who gave us the Core, the Core 2, & i7? That's right AMD. You see back in the mid 2000's Intel was perfectly fine with the abysmal P4 until AMD came along with a simpler yet faster CPU forcing Intel to actually try to serve their customers again
@cptorangutang2 Nah just sharing specs. When I was in college I needed a lappy, and couldn't afford a gaming computer and a laptop, I bought a laptop with a nice video card and a good processor. It played games for me for several years until I could afford the rig I have now. The laptop is close to 6 years old now and is still better than many of the new budget computers out there.
get into a free return trajectory like early Apollo missions did, that is:
From Kerbin orbit, you make a burn to inject into munar transfer orbit in such a way, that without any further burns you'll do a 180° turn around Mun and get right back to Kerbin.
This might require a little math, but with the KSP physics where you are only in the sphere of influence of a single body at any given time, I think it should be possible.
@MrSvensli I would. Technically its a desktop replacement. In reality most desktops aren't even that good. Besides you have to overpay by at least $1000 for the monicker of "Gaming Laptop". Of course if you game on it, it is.
@trydyingtolive i have to agree whit the fakt that i could gotten a much better pc for the price of my laptop, but i bought it for LAN partis whit my friens so a laptopis much more praktical for my use.

Would be nice if you could build a spacebase, dock with it,
and then use the stored parts to build a new ship.
Of course you would need enough storage room at the spacebase
and a hangar to build it. :D
