  • Thank you!!!

  • I like how they start out with the mushrooms (that were once known to open one's mind).

  • Some people were just born to be musicians. Wish I was.

  • I wanna see them 1 more time!!!!

  • I've got this DVD sitting 5 feet away, and yet I can't bring myself to turn this off.

  • love this, what an inspiration

so awesome. my new theme song.

    thanks for posting <3

  • Is Derek on tour with them right now?

  • @EmFayg Yes i Just left the boston show about an hour ago

  • @EmFayg No this year and next year its John Lennon with Gary Moore and Duane Allman, also some performances from Jerry garcia to

  • fucking AWESOME!!!!

  • I like the way that Derek Takes the slide solo and runs with it, but at the same time finishes it off with roughly the same lick from the studio version.

  • a great post! thank you!!!

  • 10 idiots!

  • The Allman Brothers band has had 4 of the world's greatest guitarists play with them. Duane, Dickie, Derrick, and Warren.

  • @TDubya5

    Derek

  • @TDubya5 Make that 7...dont forget Jimmy Herring, Dan Toler, and Jack Pearson.

  • i just deposited on my shoes

  • i just deposited on my shoes at 0.32

  • we used to play this tune with Thunderjug

  • amazing! and this is 8 years old, both derek and warren have only improved since

two legends. make that 7 legends.

  • Derek is a magician

  • How many people are waistin' time?

  • Nothing short of phenomenal from Derek..

  • im using this as my theme song to regain control over my life.

tired of wasting time on stupid shit.

    its time to move on.

  • Oh yeah!~ That's IT man!

  • I found an old, OLD blue glass bottle the size they use while digging a new garden in my yard down here in north Mississippi. It's in perfect condition, and I would love to pass it on to one of these guys to play a mean slide with...

  • Amen glimmerman108

  • Always loved the Allman Brothers and they always seem to have great guitarists: Duane Allman, Dickie Betts, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes and others.

  • I saw these guys in the early 80`s when I was a teenager in Georgia and I still enjoy them to this day!

  • Rock on bro Greg!

  • Nothing in the world like it! Awesome....

  • This is a great vid. If you're a fan and don't have "The ABB: Live at The Beacon" (2003) BUY IT. A fantastic DVD, and you won't not be disappointed!!

  • Nobody better than these guys......unfreakinbelievable......

  • 10 people are still wastin' time.

  • @glimmerman108 u got that right!!

  • I was at this show.. as well as many other great concerts by the A.B.B. @ The Beacon. Man, that band in that theater is just musical heaven! Everytime I see them there it's always a phenomenal, almost spiritual experience.... it's simply amazing.

  • Derek turned 32 today.

  • thank you again folks so much. Has been my feel good for a few weeks Yes oh yes it goes by faster and faster but I have better control and I may not slow it down but it will be easier to live in . again thanks Peace Rick Wichita Kansas

  • He changed the last verse .. "When all the terrorist have died off" ...

  • Using real glass bottles...no metal junk on the finger...The way it was meant to be played!

  • @TomN2010 yeah, but they still don't make good cases for those blues bottles, so people like me carry the chrome slides so we don't end up with a guitar case full of glass shards. :)

(I have three kinds of glass slides and one chrome.)

  • I'm becoming absolutely amazed

  • in the music industry hayes is noted as the best slide player in the bussiness.

  • @bmunzz haynes is sick, i think people forget how well he plays slide

  • Comment removed

  • @bmunzz Warren and Derek are in my opinion the two best guitarists in their prime right now, but I'm sure Warren would not hesitate in telling you that Derek is 10x the slide player he will ever be.

  • @theatlantisrise

    definitely.

  • Derek is truly a virtuoso !!

  • I wanna shake his hand I dont know why because i grew up in the same neighborhoods still i think my music would expand with a handshake, thats soul baby, come on out to the mushroom festival in bugtussel mo, people.

  • Thanks for sharing this great video! Wanted you to know I posted it in my Facebook group called Songs of Strength. If you're a facebooker, love for you to join us for more like this!

  • derek trucks is my boy

  • derek trucks is my shit

  • As amazingly good as this is, the brothers are playing better and better each year. IMHO. Time for them to issue another DVD don't you think!?

  • Thanks for posting, this has been cheering me up all week!

  • I remember this great show, shortly after there was a DVD released I remember seeing it in Borders them a year or so later I was told it was no longer available? Cant find it anywhere. Any ideas, thanks for sharing

  • Derek is the best !!!! i was watching his videos when he was 12 yo and is

awesome, he play like Duane, i'm 55 yo and Allman Brothers Fan since 1976

  • man, sounds like they are half asleep and just calling this one in. I mean. everybody is playing ok. but wheres the spark? wheres the fire? I miss the old days I guess

  • 9 dislikes must hate life........This "IS " ROCK N ROLL @ it's purest form.

  • Derek Trucks is a god.

  • after listening to this song and I'll Take You There by The Staple Singers extremely loud on my headphones (after having a few brews) my life was altered..this song rocks..what band couldn't do without an organ.

  • Perfeito!

  • i love the slide and trucks and haynes are great, but come on guys, get a little more diversity in the song

  • to be honest, trucks is great, but haynes owned that song with that solo.

  • @bluespower94

    Both solos are great . . . I'll take Truck's . . . on this tune.

  • @bluespower94

Both solos are great . . . I'll take Derek's on this tune . . . but that's really just a matter of preference . . . Derek threw down and Warren answered, that's the fact.

  • @emmoiv song was written after duane died, the orig recording is dickey playing slide which was never his strength

  • allman brothers and pink floyd are the best bands ever....

  • caught them at the stony pony,,asbury park nj...thinking 83..was 2 feet from greg...I'm sure he remembers it also lol

  • its crazy to think derek trucks was only 24 at this point in his career, unbelievable

  • @zippo8695

Not that crazy when you realize that Duane Allman was only 24 when he died.

  • wow warren makes guitar literally cry at the end of the 2nd solo. If only guitarists today had .05% of his talent.

  • Warren is a pretty good slide player in his own right.

  • Greg wrote this after Duane died in the motorcycle accident. Time is too short and he's not wastin time no more! He changed the words war freaks(Vietnam era) to terrorists die off and leave us alone...

  • leave your mind alone..and just get high..miss ya liz!

  • @kaptkarl Greg changed that line too! Leave your mind alone... and we'll all just get by...

  • I saw the Allman Bros about twenty years ago. Best show I can't even remember now...

  • Thank you for posting this. They are amazing. I only wish I could have made it to one of their concerts...

    Bill

  • To the meager handful of negative posters, I have to ask, Have you seen the Allman Brothers live in the last 10 years? I have. It was an eye opener. They absolutely fucking rock! Are they the Allmans of 20 years ago? No. Neither is any other band that has been around as long. People live. People die. People move on. Just like the lyrics in an ABB song. Life goes on. You should too. Enjoy these abso-fuckingly-brilliant artists for what they are. Stop wastin time....

  • Love the long ones where they let loose and let the music take over. That is when they have magic

  • absolutely stunning

  • Really good but the ABB isn't the same without Dickey. Gregg is a great singer and songwriter but to a lot of us old farts he'll always be a narc. Derek's daddy has always been a fantastic drummer!! Jaimoe, too!!

  • @HawgsDaddy u are so right

  • @HawgsDaddy Butch is his uncle.

  • @HawgsDaddy butch is dereks uncle, not dad...

  • suweet!

  • Love this so much, can't even describe the feeling I have when I hear it,maybe "homesick".I know one day I will return down south and live the rest of my life there, listening to good old music like this, living in a small log cabin near a lake, with a good old boy. This post made my evening PatongTed,thanks so much! ♥

  • This is a fantastic exhibition by Derek, Greg, Warren and the band. I have been an ABB fan since 1971. This 2003 performance represents their most musically accomplished lineup ever. Duane Allman was an innovator and a creative genius on the slide guitar and Dickey Betts is a great song writer, but Derek is a technically more accomplished musican than either of them in my opinion.

  • Awesome.

  • Fantastic!!!

  • devno...thats one of the most uneducated and ignorant statements I think I've ever heard. Go find your hoie and stay there.

  • anyone have another video from this show?...this is excellent !

  • Love it!

  • Cool Intro. Love this song, Love the Allman bros. I grew up around Macon. They are ledgends in that area.

  • Say a prayer for Gregg

  • Hey Patong Ted. I'm not sure what show it was. However, you can see the Allman Brothers Live anywhere in the Summer. They usually come to the Comcast Center and they were at the Bank of Boston "Tent" two Summers ago! Rock on!

  • I think i'm responsible for at least 900 of these views

  • Hot damn I just love Southern rock! Awesome.

  • @devno9904 you fail

  • @danblomquist1 Warren Hayes is the John Tesh of southern rock, Period.

  • @devno9904 John Tesh wrote great songs like Soulshine and Rockin' Horse......yeah buddy, you bet! YOU are the Yanni of Youtube. EPIC FAIL.

  • @mrtonebone

One of the best interwebz put downs I have ever seen. kudos to you, sir! ;-)

  • they lost alot of the enregy with Dickie not in the band, Dickie,Warren,Woody, now thats a great line up

  • @texas9085 dickie blows... Derek is much more versatile and you don't have the CRAZY factor to deal with!!!

  • fukin awesome

  • Man this is still the best! Derek's slide runs are spine chilling hot and melodic! AWESOME! Thanks always to ABB

  • Man this is still the best! Derek's slide runs are spine chilling hot and melodic! AWESOME! Thanks always to ABB

  • the slide solos are both incredible

  • I know everyone blabs about Derek and Duane; but Warren has been in this band for a long long time and basically he shreds. Don't want warren to feel left out. that's all.

  • @pcburgh01 Warren Hayes single handedly ruined this bands classic sound. His constant wanking takes away from the original songs, live or recorded. Duane would kick this guy off the stage and tell him to go ride his mule.

  • wow.. duane died in the 70's loser.. do even know what the year is? I hope you die in a house fire you worthless piece of shit cause Warren Haynes would out play 98 % of the people out there today.. what did they lose? a drunk and 4 songs thats it.. you suck fuck face.. die.fag

  • @devno9904 You must have forgot how Warren pretty much helped them get back to "where it all begins"- they wrote some great songs w/ Warren in the band. For a ABB fan, you're pretty freakin' ungreatful- and you're just flat out wrong- I've seen Warren and Dickie trade leads with the best of ANYONE- those two sounded great together. I think Warren fit better than Dan or Jack too- as good as Jack is, Warren adds some great bluesy vocals and great song writing too.

  • @devno9904 you yak about nothing...

  • wow kick ass hits home bigtime!!!!

  • Love this so much...

  • stevie ray is to hendrix as derek trucks is to duane

  • Relaxed version...

  • Once again. I know Derek is great and definitely has a unique sound. I was commenting that his songs are not nearly as memorable as The Allman Bros. This is no comment on his style or ability.

  • Both are great guitarists. Duane's music is memorable. Derek's is not.

  • @danohat wrong. so wrong. derek will be remembered just as much as duane.

  • Are u kidding me?? There is no guitarist on this earth who has their own sound more than derek. If you don't see this guy's greatness then i feel sorry for you

  • @McKegger420 YOU ARE CORRECT SIR!!!

  • Derek IS a much much better player than Duane, hands down..........Take the notion that Duane was a genius and cram it..........Duane WAS an excellent player for 24 years old, but he was just a kid when he died. people think that because he died, he's a saint now.......he ain't. He made some beautiful stuff, but died as a child. If he lived, he would have been a producer, and Southern rock would have been better for it, I believe. Stop sucking his dick, it's rotten now.

  • @chifinonbigblunts this performance is awesome but i do miss the raunchier blues feeling duane provided. derek is better maybe but duane MADE the allman bros famous for awesome slide guitar

  • You don't get it. That kind of talk is definitely not what this music is about.

  • @davehoganmusic Who are you, the crossing guard now? Judge Judy's janitor? The music is about sharing.........If you want a G-Rated session, go back to the Disney channel with your kids and sing Michael Row the Boat Ashore. Opinions are be like assholes and yours really stinks. Now go make me a sandwich. Do-you-get-it-now? Dismissed.

  • Just so you know, Ain't Wasting Time" was recorded after Duane's death. Dicky played slide on the record.

  • yo Nuts Music1234 please go into detail. Explain how Derick ''is so much more technical than Duane was In what way how? You're parroting something you heard somewhere. This is no knock on Derek Trucks. I've heard people say this but no one can ever say how. They are all blowing smoke up their own skirts. I really wish someone could explain this but no one ever does or can.

  • This video is pretty nuts and I think its really tight. And this Derek Is really good but its the respect for duane allman that makes him better i mean he got that good at slide in 3 years.

  • KInda agree with chefmccabe....this is pretty freakin flat energy wise...I love warren and derek...but this was so half assed...listen to the "wipe the window...." version....now thats shit is deep

  • Derek can hold his own with anyone Jackass below me!!!

  • need respect all bands that have been still doing live gigs after 40 years,,ABB sounds great..I grew up on Duane/Dickie but Derek is so much more technical, Joe Walsh,Eric CThe,Who..keep it going

  • Comment removed

  • Ain't Wastin' Time No More How I live every day ! Than you Allmand Brothers for making me put on a new face!

  • My favorite song to sing in the shower:)

  • They are still great!!!

  • no better then derek, well maybe jake e lee.

  • I listen to duane--he flew in the spirit--takin nothing away from derek, no competition, two different cats 40 years apart--just loving it that the music goes on 'this love will not fade away'

ps dickie betts on album brothers and sisters never improved on!!

  • Saw these guys last weekend in Rochester NY and they performed this song which gave me a new appreciation for it. The haven't got much of a stage presence, but that psychedelic screen gives the audience something to look at during the show.

  • Truly your not an ABB fan if your watching the screen! get a clue!

  • doesn't matter what you are looking at as long as you are listening to their sweet sound.

  • Its still Duanes Band, always was and always will be, Remember that, no matter who rides in the cockpit.

Derek is ridiculously talented though and a supreme badazz.

  • damn why is derek so good???!!

  • no one was better than duane

  • umm i actually think somebody in this video was and is better than duane.....ino duane is a great talent that was ended short but if u listen to both of them derek is much more technically talented than duane

  • duane never played on this song

  • incorrect sir... derek is incomparable

  • What show was this? Thanks for the great post!

  • Beacon Theater 2003

  • Wish I was there! Thanks man!

  • Re stretch not having seen this before the stretch, It looks alright to me totally acceptable., I will tell folk about it , actually I have now for a while!! there is another too yt:crop=16.9 that has a kinda zoom effect, I have not tried it, as I have no need too, some say its OK too. regards David.

  • Good to know David! Thanks again for the tip! Keep in Touch!

    Peace!~Ted

  • Is Dickie Betts still around?

  • Yes Dickie is still around and he is touring right now. Check out dickeybetts(dot)com for tour dates.

    Peace!~Ted

  • what's up PatongTed? how have you been, brother? you still traveling to Thailand, etc? I see that many people still agree with my opinion that the band went downhill after the replacement of several key members, but as we said before, 90 percent of the ABB is better than 110 percent of some of the shit on the radio today. god speed, brother, I hope everything is well.

  • Good to hear from you sbnewman! I think I accidently deleted my response to your comment. I am doing ok brother! How about yourself? I leave for Thailand June 22 and will return on August 15! Cant wait!

    Stay in Touch Bro!

    ~Ted

  • I hope the weather and travels work out for you. I'm jealous.... I travel to Germany any time I get a chance to leave the US, and it looks like you've found the same second home in Thailand! Let me know if you are ever in the North Carolina area, I'll sniff out a good cover band and some local brews.

  • You can really tell where the Black Crows got their inspiration.

  • awesome video. makes you think about living each day to the fullest, with people who really love and care about you. It's now or never! xx

  • Incredible Improv on a great solo.

    Great Band...

    Great Song...

  • The good old days is all I can say!! They were my first concert at M.S.G.

I love the message in this song!! One of my favorites for sure!!

    Thanks for posting it!!

    Some Great Memories Huh!!

  • They do their best, ....I just grew up on Dickie and Duane, .....after those , where do you go?.........

  • Right Here....where else could you go ?

I grew up on Duane and Dickey also

This is the best the band has sounded since Oct. 29, 1971

They were still tight until Nov 11, 1972

Then the sound and the whole vibe of the band changed

They were still a cooking band, but it took it's toll.

So to hear this song played live with two smoking guitarists, there is only one place to go...back to where it all began.

  • Is Warren Haynes and Gregg Allman the same person? LOL

  • no, greg allman is the guy playing the keys and hes the lead vocals.... warren haynes is the big guy playing the les paul =]

  • any one who doesn't know Warren Haynes, he i s th ebig guy. and he is god.. check out gov't mule ..you will understand...peace

  • We're not all corrupt and interested in bling man, im 21 and my bands plays allman brothers music all the time...but of course we play all kinds of music like this...and hell im the oldest, the other guys are all 18!

  • i love both the allman brothers band and derek trucks' band but i think when you add the bongo stuff to the allman brothers sound, i dont like it. thats just my opinion. other than that, fucking great!

  • Ok, that's it... I'm never buying a Volkswagen again.

  • Is that really necessary?

  • And.. not to go crazy with the comments, but the Allmans have such a great message of tradition, tragedy/endurance, and such, how can people young and old not listen to them?

  • Vocal*.

  • Disregard that comment-- the one before it didn't seem to post. Gregg's dad died in my area, many family and friends in the area. Been into the ABB atmosphere/structure, ever since I was a youngin (still 18). Moreocal harmonies would be interesting, Gregg leading all he can. Older [ younger, alike] folks wish Duane/Dickey were still around, but it is what it is. Derek represents my generation pretty well. Warren always does a great job lending a hand... didn't know of him till I got into ABB.

  • his.. meaning Gregg.

  • i was here great show

  • Right on!

  • Derek would make his daddy proud the dude is awsome seen him in chicago playing with Clapton. Where's Dicky Bettes? and who's the big guy he's pretty bad ass too. Its about the music "jabbin retard". When you come out of the closet will cut YOU some slack.

  • Betts left because he didn't agree with Gregg on almost everything and he's still old school--he wants to drink and fight. Dickey said of Derek, "I left the "Brothers" in good hands. The other guitarist is Warren Haynes of Government Mule. You will probably like their music if you like ABB

  • I have been a fan of Gregg and ABB since I was a kid in the early 70's. The older I get I appreciate them more. My bad I thought Derek was Butch's son and that Butch(his uncle)had died. The Kid(29 is a kid 2me) is awesome. is there any one else able to step up on vocals and allow the ABB to go another generation? My grandkids need something more than BLING and phony rebels to appreciate the art of music. thanks ewoldt

  • Yea. Warren Haynes is increable blues singer. Check him out on "Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks - Old Friend" on Youtube.

  • Who better to growl out bluesy rock numbers than a guy like Greg Allman who's lived thru it all and still can jam. Having Derek Trucks don't hurt either.

  • To go along with PatongTed: JaminRebel-While you are in your mental hospital take 14 or 15 vicadin. i heard it works when it comes to people who shouldn't live.

  • Thanks for posting real music. I love the Brothers.
