@ThcMadness No, you can just plug it in to a guitar amp or put headphones in, and use it just fine. I was wondering this myself until I talked to a Guitar Center employee. I'm sure I'm a little late, but I hope I helped.

Wouldn't recommend Akai midi controllers unless they have a midi out connection USB on my Akai MPD16 made my computer BSOD if it weren't for midi out I'd have had to toss the thing in the trash can.

i don't think so as akai mpd18 is powered by USB, so, no chance, u must connect it to the usb.

Yeh, but if this 'Toy' Happens to be around the £300 mark, it will sell sell sell! Plus, 600 Presets? Compared to SH-201's 35? 40 Band Vocoder? SH-201 doesn't have one! 3 Osc, 25 Effects ..Just look it up on their website. This is a very powerful, & yet portable 'Toy!' I'd never leave home without it!
