  • what a beast! It amazing to see it still running. great vid

  • i think its fixable with few boxes of welding rod!!and a new clutch.just seems like a diehard

  • It must be a laugh a minute down there?

  • my god, much abuse of this machine! poor D8!

  • This is a Tank :D

  • ill take it it will be a good test for wd-40 lol

  • @Fordgpw1942ocalafl

WD40 is a water displacer FYI.

  • I have run equipment like that in Mexico!

Facts of the matter, they would fix the valves and injectors and whatever else, sand blast it and repaint it and tell me I now have a "new" tractor to work with.

  • still have this machine or did it get cut up?

  • Was this one a log dragger at one point or a pit miner?

It looks vaguely familiar to one that was sitting in an old abandoned quarry in festus,MO(d8, d9, and some kind of earth mover, OLD puppies those ones)

  • It aint no sports car id run the hell out of it.......

  • Those are track cleats, not pads. Pads are rubber for use on pavement.

  • that is a great piece of machine with a little love u should have her running like a top

  • It's fixable, I didn't see any cracked castings. Cat can make you new ones, "no orphans" but it's not cheap. You don't have that problem! Is there a scrap dealer nearby who can sell you some new track pads?

  • Theres no such thing as abused, just well-used.

  • at least it runs

  • are you guys located in texas. U all have alot of old machines. Tell ur dad i'll sell him my 36A wit a plow

  • @dieselcrazy07 Located in Central Texas. How much do you want for your 36A?

  • @DieselPowerTV we asking 36000 with root plow.

  • @NeedleInTheGroove1 i was referring to this particular one with the cracks. One not so beat up, yes you are right ot can be done, but not to this one.

  • Promotional video for pimp my ride

  • Don't know what you paid for it but you can still smash stuff with it.

And when it dies you can say "Oh well".

  • Fix it up. I've seen FAR worse on newer machines.

  • An old machine like that is worth no more or less that what someone who loves this type of old classic equipment thinks it’s worth. She would be a lot of work for sure, but would shine up real nice.

  • @Radioguy54 u have a good point there

  • i remember as a small boy that a lot of farms had smaller versions of these , but sadly they seem to have disappeared

  • good old farm dozer,,scarp is 250per ton ,,,shes around 30ton= 8,000. its a mans toy.

  • the problem with fixing this old stuff up is that even after you get the engine and the undercarriage right, you still have all of the blade cracks etc....its still a piece of shit. A piece of shit that runs good, but really you spent $20k on a machine that will be worth $10k even after fixing everything.

A shiney turd is still a turd.

  • @jozzie2000 not so,i spent 27k restoring an even older d8 and sold it for 39k.

  • about 5 tubes of grease on the right side should tighten that track up a bit

  • nice man..

  • A little lovin, oil and elbow grease, paint and she will be good as new

  • lol the ad for the prius happened before the video

  • That things awesome

  • beats using a shovel and wheel barrow............

  • love that old dozer

  • well, it has one decent track....

  • Thats some sketchy welding on the blade..

  • that's way cool! parts? Heck no!

  • its freakin SWEET i like it

  • Lots of weld on there.Grind it off and redo it.Then once you get the clutch and engine fixed it sounds like you'd have a half decent machine.

Anyhow I'd take it as is.

  • That thing really is a pile of shit

  • One of those kind you need 4 arms and legs to run.I like the new joystick ones today but not made as older machines.

  • that thing is scary

  • if it goes it will work.

  • i think alot of people on here are jealous of your dozer, they talk shit about it because their mad that you didnt spend your money on what they wanted. oh by the way, i got a stupid question, were you cracking the fuel lines to bleed the air out?

  • @huckster78 Yes, my dad was cracking the fuel lines to help diagnose if any of the injectors were bad.

  • @huckster78 cracking the lines is to do a power balance test, when a cylinder is working and you loosen the line you can hear the cylinder go dead and that means it is working but if you crack an injection line and nothing changes, than it is a bad cylinder

  • just dip it in WD-40 :D

  • what year is this machine

  • i'd fix her up, but not paint her and use her as a movie prop, maybe they could do a remake of the old scool movie killdozer?

  • It looks like it was in a fire at one point in time making everything brittle and very easy to break.

  • this man has almost 20 pieces of equipment and doesnt know what to look at? sounds like a lot is wrong with this dozer i see 3 things wrong with it the tension in the spring is messed up

  • This is/was a logging dozer. Nothing dumber in the world than logging operators. Hence, this thing's in REALLY bad shape.

  • @DeserTBoB93535

thats not true, that dozer wasnt opperated by the owner thats for sure

  • GET OFF THE FUCKING COMMERCIALS !

  • I`m a modeler and videos like this are priceless for us. Thanks.

  • I would use it to commute to work!

  • What did you do with this? Also how much did you pay if I may ask That is just the kind of thing I'm looking for!

  • Judging by all the caging on it it possibly was used in logging operations?

  • How can it be Ironplanet's fault?? They give reports and plenty of pics. Looks like a cause of buyer remorse to me or whining

  • @460gman He didn't say it was Ironplanets fault he said, "My dad bought this dozer from ironplanet and didn't ask enough questions".

  • Some people can break an anvil with a glass hammer!

  • those were just extra grousers any way lmao

  • Man that right track is loose. I'd say rehab the motor and find a junked out D8 with a good under carrage and make work. Like one of the other guys said, "They ain't makin' any more of 'em."

  • @435now I'd say find a D8 with a good undercarrage and us this one for parts, she's been abused.

I'm terrible sentimental about old machines too,and I'd probably try and save it too...but it's still a bad idea.

  • Think of this as a rescue project and not a mistake....fixing her up would be doing a very good deed..

  • that machine could be used again in no time fix er and run er

  • one of the carrier rollers is stuck to dang it lol

  • Oh come on now, she just needs a little tender loving care haha. Kinda makes you wonder what it's been through. I would still take it

  • At least she got to move under her own power one last time.

  • umm how much did u spend roughly just buyin it like that?

  • yeah but they aint making anymore of em1 gotta work with the ones we got. maybe parts to keep a brother alive.

  • wow that is pretty worn out, id still take it though

  • DAMN i love it, i want it. that thing is a work horse, the only cats i have are 4cyl. its a butie

  • god buy new one it would cost u less work god

  • Yea a museum restoration piece..

  • Buyer beware!!

  • Well...it runs right? Could be restored with a lot of work! Its seen better days thats for sure.

  • thanks for posting ,i really enjoy your clips i hope you did not pay over the odds for it and will still be in pocket if you use it for parts cheers graham

  • ive seen them in worse condition.youre lucky you got one that runs on 5 cylinders.LOL

  • heck of cab guard goin on there
